1  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Premium Article] The 2009 Players Guide to Vintage on: January 22, 2009, 01:46:14 pm
I'm going to post about something that's been irritating me about your articles Steven. You are obviously paid to write articles for Starcity Games and that's awesome, grats on that but....

You do post these links to premium articles here that people cannot even read if they do not have star city premium. Normally I wouldn't have a problem with this except for the fact that you chastised someone for posting a decklist from it in one of your threads. It just seems monumentally stupid to post links to articles one must pay for on a third party website and get angry when people post a decklist from it in this thread. It feels like free advertising for yourself and starcity and I'm not sure that's the purpose of the Vintage forum.

In closing I'm not sure I'm the only one who is getting tired of links to your "premium articles" being posted on this forum where the content is free and centered around discussion of the format. I know I'm not some Vintage god or anything but personally I'd prefer if you either didn't get angry with people for posting your super secret tech from those paid articles or just don't advertise them here.
2  Eternal Formats / Creative / Conflux/Dream Halls combo deck? on: January 03, 2009, 01:55:49 pm
A new card from Conflux has been previewed named... Conflux.

3UBWGR

Sorcery

Search your library for onewhite card one blue one black one red one greenr (paraphrasing) and put them into your hand, shuffle your library.

Looking at this card I thought about one thing... Dream Halls is unrestricted in Vintage right now. Dream Halls costs 5 like Tezzeret but the combo can win that turn and not have to wait for a second main phase. The one interesting thing about conflux is that it can find more confluxes.

When you cast the first conflux you would find a conflux and four other cards with it, you would probably play a couple of draw spells or rituals and play another conflux for free (or not depending on the situation) find four more cards and another conflux and continue doing this until you've drawn most of your library, you can then finish them off with a tendrils (possibly for free!).

How viable is this? It seems faster than tezzeret but probably more comparable to the pitch long decks going around, any thoughts?
