It seems like the 4th Ancient Tomb should be in there, or possibly a City of Traitors. Turn 1 Metalworker is just so good, I'd want as many ways to get it as possible. Are the Rishadan Ports performing well enough?

I also like the Chalices.

Thanks a lot *G*

And I guess that's why there aren't any Type2 PTQs.

Hello,

It looks like I'll end up moving out to Champaign for school next year, and I'm wondering what the Type 1 (or any gaming, for that matter) scene is like out there. There's got to be something either at the university or, at the very least, Chicago or Indianapolis, right? I was out there a few weeks ago and I didn't see much, but I wasn't really out there to check out the magical cards. Any kind of response would be appreciated, thanks.

4  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Debate on the creature base of BG Void on: January 21, 2004, 11:01:39 pm
Shades and Factories are, at least to me, a no-brainer. I'm not impressed with Blurred Mongoose, and it seems like it'd be hard to argue not including at least some number of Withered Wretches. Negators are probably better suited in a Chalice Black deck, but that's not to say they're ineffective with Voids. Personally, I like Hypnotic Spectre as the third true creature.

And Treetop Villages are definately a no.

If you're going to look at 4cc answers like Moat and Humility, Lobotomy might be worth a look as well. It doesn't need any adjustment to the mana base to fit WW, and it hits Squee if they're careless in addition to a Survival. Unfortunately, it's a very proactive spell in a reactive deck, and it's probably too narrow to be of any use. It suffers the same problems that Duress does, only at a higher mana cost, and so is probably useless.

As for the build you have, I really like the maindecked Damping Matrix. It just stops so much once it hits play. Some things in the sideboard seem out of place, namely the Isochron and a single Angel, as well as no Wishable graveyard-hate. I'd much rather find room for at least one more Exalted Angel in there and add in a Coffin Purge.
