Shameful how marginalized Vintage is, even among eternal enthusiasts, that they can't even be concerned to post the decklists.
I don't understand people that always complain...
Wait a few days, TO have to write down all decklists, which includes 2 Commander decklists tournaments.
5  Eternal Formats / Europe / Re: BoM PARIS - Bazaar of Moxen : 1, 2, 3 november 2013 on: November 07, 2013, 07:42:25 am
I too have been looking everywhere for them.  I think I remember from watching the coverage: BUG deathrite guys took first, with 2 workshop decks (1 with forgemaster) rounding out the top 4.  I think there was an oath deck in the top 8. Am looking forward to the top 8 lists when/where ever they get posted.
In fact the 2 workshop decks in the Top4 were playing kuldotha. (3kuldotha shop in top8)
AS you could have seen it in the top 8 streaming, the first who activates its kuldotha wins the game.
Only found mine in the first game though Very Happy
6  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: Bomberman Redux on: April 28, 2013, 05:53:05 pm
I must admit that I didn't really played the deck, I goldfished it a little bit and was feeling that my hands were terrible.
I guess we'll give it a try in some playtesting this week. If your feedbacks about the dredge match up are that good, I have to see that!

About the mana, I'm more concerned about the tempo that it seems you are losing by playing those 2 Auriok, 4 Jaces, 4 trinkets, 2 clique instead of playing dark confidant than the mana itself.

Concerning fish, Merfolks doesn't see play in Europe, so we are more focused on Bant (stony silence being pretty hard) or BUG fish (decays are so good).

We made some more tests against ichorid (by using the same method : 6 cards + bazaar) as I promised Wink  I made 6-2 on the play, but 4-8 on the draw... not really great (but yes, that is always playing against full powered ichorid, we want to have a deck that is prepared for the ichorid match up. As I said earlier, I want to win, not dredge losing by itself, evnen though I'll take it in tourney Wink  )
Surgical was indeed bad. Rest in Peace lost me 2 games out of 8 where I could not cast it turn 1. But here again, I'm not playing the 5th moxen and the mana crypt. I do really like ravenous trap, really one of the best card you can have again st dredge.
I do agree about the spellbomb vs cage in the MD.

Hope I'll come back very soon with some new tests with the UW version so I can understand your statements Smile

(about the mud MU, what does your siding plans look like? I really feelyou are very low on hate... You keep telling me about that devout witness while you are only running one!)
7  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: Bomberman Redux on: April 28, 2013, 05:11:13 am
We have been disappointed about the surgical extractions and we'll try some Rest In Peace/Tormod's crypt in those slots.
About the test with 6 cards+BoB we really liked this. I really prefer to get some nice stats against a full powered dredge (we are not doing the bazaR + land + claim + unmask + black cards + dredge though :p ) as I expect to win against dredge instead of dredge losing itself

Concerning the EE, I'll keep because it's versatile and it's like "never bad". (but i do think it's bad at killing zombies - just meaning it's not the type of hate you really want but it's still an emergency button)

We should also have some time to test against MUD (metalworker build, no stax build in our area), we'll try those devout witness if possible

Also, if playing the UW version, I would try those notion thief which should be really good (but would need the 5 moxen and mana crypt imho), I can't see myself playing this version, do you really beat fish and MUD with that build? It seems to me that they are too many overcosted card in the maindeck (2 auriok, 4 jaces, 4 trinket... so much!). The  esper version needs less mana and I'm pretty happy with it.

About the dredge 4 cards against 3 cards: It's really not the same, considering Dredge avec serum power, is running 4 BoB, 4 serum; 4 unmaks, many black cards whereas bomberman runs 2(3?) rest in peace
8  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: Bomberman Redux on: April 26, 2013, 03:08:40 am
@Samoht: even though it seems that ichorid doesn't use dredge return anymore, you'll be dead on your 2nd turn becuase of cabal therapies
Concerning the mana crypt, I might be wrong by not playing it, but I'm playing the full moxen set also! Also, I took so many damages from dark confidant that I would not play the mana crypt (even more when not playing tinker)

@Kirika: Indeed, we have been disappointed seeing how surgical was against dredge. And even though ravenous trap is 4 manas (dark confidant!), we'll try it again!
We are also considering replacing the MD  Engineered Explosives by another spellbomb as the EE is not that needed anymore when comboing out (here comes Tvault Key)

More testing will come and I'll share those Wink
9  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: Bomberman Redux on: April 25, 2013, 02:22:04 am
Jace is hard to play under resists but you only have to pay the resistor tax once.   Snapcaster becomes really difficult to pay the resister tax since you have to pay it twice once for Snappy and again for the flashback card.
what's the difference between Jace and Snapcaster + Swrds to Plowshares?
with 1 Sphere/Golem: None
With 1 Thorn: Snapcaster +StP is cheaper

WIth 2+ Resistor: you might just can't play Jace, snapcaster would be a chump block (even though that should be irrelevant I guess)

We made 22 games yesterday against ichorid:
OTPlay I won 6-4, Rest in Peace would have been good I guess
OTD, tied 6-6, Rest in Peace would have been so bad! You really can't affort doing nothing on your first turn or you're going to die...
I was playing 2 surgical (2 snaps) and 2 cages, the non-synergic has been problematic... could not flashback surgical twice because of cage Sad

SB:  2 Kataki, War's Wage
SB:  2 Surgical Extraction
SB:  2 Disenchant
SB:  2 Grafdigger's Cage
SB:  1 Swords to Plowshares

Round 1:ichorid
G1 I ancestrall turn 1, yawg turn 2 into counters, and lose
G2: tormod's, cage do the job
G3 he claim my t1 tormod's crypt, dredge a lot but crappy dredges, i topdecked my black mana to go mox mox sol ring, tvault, demonic key

Round 2:Esper (dark conf, stoneforge, jace, tvault, tinker, mana drain)
G1 i fow jhis confidant and win through comboing
G2: I should have mull, he ancestrall + jace, i got bob and trinkets, kill jace, then his yawg happened
G3: i land mox U go, he went land mox walk into my drain into jace

Round 3: BUG Fish (Deathrite, bob, cutpurse) - siding out the vaultkey
G1: i lose 13 lives to my confidants (fow trinket fow) and then his shaman killed me
G2 i drain a threat into jace to win from there
G3 can't remember but win :p

Round 4:mirror ID

Top4: Oath
G1 I T1 jace (only lands in hand), he doesn't have fow and I win from there
G2, turn 1 Recall, then dark conf, disenchant his oath, win

Top 2: Mirror:
G1: T1 leaving the dream, cavern of souls mox confidant, but he has the swords. However, cavern is unbeatable
G2: i mull, he goes turn 1 confidant, I STP, then ho goes demonic into ancestrall, i misstep, then time vault key from without searching for it, like a champ Wink

The black mana is really annoying, I've cut an island for the 4th tundra, should be the 3rd Sea
Against fishes, I missed the last StP
Don't know what to think about that yawgmoth's will (could be cut for a snap?) and LoA...
Same about time vault + key but it did well for me!
11  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: Bomberman Redux on: April 19, 2013, 02:03:33 am
@cwam: cut the surgical extractions, they seem terrible. And against shops I would much rather cut a snapcaster then the nihil spell bomb. I also think there the esper version can go down to one salvager. As far as the mana base this is what I would support:

-1 library
-1 academy
+1 plains
+1 polluted delta/blue fetch
Could you explain why surgicals seem terrible?
If you're going to answer "it's better to play a turn 1 rest in peace off a mox", please do not. Surgical is really good against dredge as bridge from below is the card that is annoying. Also, it allows you to go dark confidant and still having a nice disrupt card against dredge

Concerning, shop and the snap/jace/spellbomb:
How would you want to play a jace that costs at least mana in sorcery where snapcaster can be another answer to a problem or a permanent for tangle wire?
Why would you want to keep the spellbomb that requires black to activate? You don't want to fetch your Usea for this...

About cutting down to 1 salvagers, you might be right, but a little more explanations would be welcome Smile
Yawg Will, I guess I'd need to play a bit more the deck to be sure it belongs to it

@Kirika, about 4 manas and jace, I don't think this will ever happens: having the 3 basics into play before landing the last one, I think you can hold at least 1 fetch. The plains hurts while playing LoA, 2 caverns and 3 mana drains!
12  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: Bomberman Redux on: April 18, 2013, 02:58:16 am
I've been playing this for some games right now: (which is the exact MD of the guy that top8 at the Gencon)
        1 Library of Alexandria
        1 Polluted Delta
        1 Tolarian Academy
        2 Cavern of Souls
        2 Underground Sea
        3 Island
        3 Tundra
        4 Flooded Strand
        2 Auriok Salvagers
        2 Snapcaster Mage
        3 Trinket Mage
        4 Dark Confidant
        2 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
        1 Black Lotus
        1 Engineered Explosives
        1 Mox Jet
        1 Mox Pearl
        1 Mox Ruby
        1 Mox Sapphire
        1 Nihil Spellbomb
        1 Sensei's Divining Top
        1 Sol Ring
        1 Time Vault
        1 Voltaic Key
        1 Ancestral Recall
        1 Brainstorm
        1 Thirst for Knowledge
        2 Flusterstorm
        2 Mental Misstep
        2 Swords to Plowshares
        3 Mana Drain
        4 Force of Will
        1 Demonic Tutor
        1 Time Walk
        1 Yawgmoth's Will
SB:  1 Steel Sabotage
SB:  1 Hurkyl's Recall
SB:  1 Plains
SB:  2 Surgical Extraction
SB:  1 Tormod's Crypt
SB:  1 Pithing Needle
SB:  2 Energy Flux
SB:  2 Kataki, War's Wage
SB:  1 Disenchant
SB:  2 Grafdigger's Cage
SB:  1 Swords to Plowshares

I didn't like the 3 maindeck island, but I can't see myself playing that basic plains, especially if you want to play 3-4 Jaces.
I really liked the esper version over the straight UW because of the speed that dark confidant provides to the deck. In the UW version, I always have tons of cards in hand that will take forever to resolve (V Clique, the 4h trinket, the 4th jace....)

There are a few cards I'm not sold in:
The 3rd island: This should probably be a fetch or an unerground sea (or you'll never cast mana drain with plains and cavern of souls...)
The spellbomb: I guess I depend on the number of slots I'll have in the sideboard against dredge
The Thirst for Knowledge but haven't tested enough against blue decks to conclude on this card
The 2nd flusterstorm : metagame call I guess

I liked the TVault Key win condition, but still, I'm unsure it really belongs to the deck (especially if you play yawg will that usually exile your black lotus)

About the sideboard,
Devout Witness: didn't try it, but that guy seem weak! 3 manas, one more turn, if you still get your white mana to activate and they didn't play revoker, that's a lot!
Serenity: Tried it, I really think that the card is bad. It's reactive, where you need instant or proactive answers
Kataki & Eflux: they're good!
HRecall: OTPlay against MUD, I didn't like the card, I guess it's better OTDraw... but a 2nd disenchant should be nice so you can side it against oath/fish
Rest in Peace: This card seems imho better than it looks. Not synergic with your deck, 2 manas (it seems ichorid can win on their second turn :p )
Steel Sabotage: will MUD be playing a chalice for 1 or for 2, that's the question, the card has been usually good, I should tried a 2nd one, but don't know what I'm suppoed to cut...?

about your sb against shos:
Quote
Shops:
+1 Devout Witness, +2 Disenchant, +2 Kataki, +0-1 Pithing Needle (Bazaar, Metal Worker, or Welder)  +2 Steel Sabotage, +2 Swords to Plowshares
-2 Auriok Salvagers, -1 Flusterstorm, -2 Mental Mistep -2 Snapcaster Mage, -1 Thirst for Knowledge -1 Yawgmoth's Will
you're cutting auriok but not the spellbomb?
By Playing cheap answers, snapcaster will be a reality that imho you'll need (and 4jace against MUD on the draw seems a bad idea...)

here is my sideboard:
Out vs MUD
-1 tfk -1 Trinket -2 Auriok -1 Spellbomb B -2 mental misstep -2 fluster -1 flusterstorm  -1 yawg Will
+1 plaine +2 energy flux +2 kataki +1 Needle +1 stp +1 steel sabotage +1 H Recall (2nd Disenchant) +1 disenchant
13  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: "The Unbroken" U/R Landstill: The Primer on: June 01, 2012, 01:12:31 pm
Isnt stony silence + creature pressure too hard for the deck when your answer is EE?(that i really like)
I feel like id like some spell snares in that deck (instead of something like mana drain and EE)?

Nice videos, it sure can be used to improve everyone's game

Like Neonico I wouldn't have Fow the 3Spheres.
With so many way to deal with it (repeals/hurkyl's/fire-ice), I would have used it for a golem/tangle wire
I would love to know Guillem's point of view on this one Smile

I'm not telling you have to play leylines, I'm just saying that the argue "not hardcastable" is not that true
(also your example of turn 1 trinket , turn 2 leyline, only stands when you draw leyline on your 1st draw step, otherwise you can have a turn 0 move Wink )
Leyline against Flash is _very_ bad.
17  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: 3rd Place - Bomberman - Myriad in March on: March 15, 2008, 06:43:49 am
Hardcasting Leyline of the Void isn't that hard in the deck with 4 trinkets.
18  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: ICBM Open 2.5, 1st place report on: March 14, 2008, 12:29:14 pm
T4: Matt with Flash

Game 2: I mulligan into a solid opening of Orchard, Recall, Lotus, go, but he clearly is content to sit back and assemble a million pieces of disruption. He finally goes for it against my full grip and ends up Pacting twice (both REBed) but I have the extra Force. He passes the turn and I pass back expecting him to lose to Pact triggers. He instead untaps and casts a second Flash during his upkeep. Luckily for me the card I drew during my turn was Krosan Reclamation. I let him start to combo out again and fizzle Reveillark's trigger with my Reclamation and he dies to the Pacts.

I double checked in the rules forum, and unless he cast more pacts than the ones you REBed and Forced, he should not have died to pact triggers because you countered the spells.

Good report though.

j

you REB the flash, not the pact, obvious play

May I ask when and where this tournament took place?
Is there a tournament organisator and/or a weblink?
Thanks

DO you really have to write all decklists? I can't see how it can be useful :/

But if SCG pays for writing them all ... just wondering.

Trickbind over orim's chant for the P.Long match up? (also nice vs ETW)
Also, I really like icatian javelineers for killing confidant, welders, lions...
About LotV, playing 3 of them and advising to mulligan aggressively for them is kinda weird imho.

samourai is nice in many matches: dragon, ichorid, fish... that's why I'd never cut any of them

True believer also shuts down intuition, duress, gifts ungiven etc... no way to replace this with extract

The beauty of UW is it can absorb lots of wastes/strip effects... everything in the deck costs 2 or less.
During the few mirror matches I played, between stifle and waste, it wasn't always easy to get UWW on the board. I'll try Flagstones.

About daze, yes, it might be good if your opponent just don't play around. It can be really good but you still lose tempo by replaying your land, that's why I don't like it.
Why do I play onedaze so far? Just to show it to my opponent, I don't want to draw it, I just want my opponent playing around Wink

All I can say is we live on different parts of the globe, so maybe not running them will work out for you.  I noticed the fish that came in second at the tourney you played in ran stormscape apprentices over each of this.  It looks like that was a good call for him
Do not confuse this tourney (spanish one) with the one I played (Side Event during Worlds in Paris :p )
Stormscape apprentice is a nice oath call tho, and not bad in the mirror, but atm I'm more convinced about Icatian javelineers because of their utility.
But for sure, lions missed me in few games where I would have prefered a 2/1 beater instead of a 1/1, but I prefer flexibility.

Seal is for more than just stax.  It's pretty much your way to beat oath and can randomly be useful in other matchups.  I find myself bringing them in against other fish more and more, since you're pretty much ALWAYS up against a jitte or threads post board these days in the mirror.  My recent change to Old man is reflected in the greatly increased popularity of bomberman.  I didn't notice alot of bomberman in your Spain tourney, and did spot a good amount of fish... so threads is probably going to be better for you.  For me it comes down to thread or oldman, and although I'll probably never permanently go with one over the other, both have UU in the casting cost and it hasn't been a major problem for me yet.
I'm still testing few cards in the board: Seal of Cleansing, Threads of disloyalty, Energy flux...
But I think that with a more solid mana, I should be able to drop Energy flux against stax. Seal of cleansing is indeed, against all and I found myself boarding 1 or 2 of them in mirror, to break opponent's jitte. About ToD, I really disliked it, because in the mirror, you want to have WW (when you run True Believer and Samourain in the board), and it's hard to get WW and UU.

Samurai of the pale curtain in your board doesn't seem very effective.  I'm guessing you board it in for combo... and quite frankly nothing shines better against combo in the sideboard than Orim's Chant.
Against Combo, I just side in one more null rod for a jotun grunt, True Believer is already nice against combo, it gives tempo, they have to find a solution for it.
About "lande venteue", I did copy/paste from our french forum, it's a "Windswept Heath" :p

About Crucible, I find it terrible

Those UW Fish are so weird, so many 2-of, so many oath-hate, and low land count  Surprised

I got few questions on your list Feinstein
Why 4 tundras? Are they really all needed? I think you can easily cut 1 tundra for 1 more basic land, which would change the mirror match quite a bit.
4 dazes?? I mean, ok you'll own your opponent with the first one, then he'll play around and they will be useless
Echoing truth for?
Isamaru and Lions: They do absolutely nothing but beat for 2, I can't support them anymore.

About the side:
Seal of cleansing? Stax will play chalice for 2 asap, so I think It'd be smart to play around
Old man? This guy is good but slow :\ and i Don't llike the UU in the CC

btw, FYI here's the list I played at the Vintage Side Event at Worlds (no top 8, 8 rounds):
4 tundra
1 lande venteuse
1 polluted delta
4 flooded strand
1 ile
1 ile enneigée
2 plaine
1 strip mine
4 wastelands
1 mox pearl
1 mox sapphire
1 black lotus

2 isamaru
1 lions des savanes
3 Jotun grunt
3 True believer
3 kataki
4 meddling mage

1 ancestral recall
1 time walk
1 daze
2 misdirection
4 force of will
3 null rod
3 swords to plowshares
4 brainstorm
3 stifle

//side
3 energy flux
3 samourai du rideau pale
3 seal of cleasing
3 Umezawa's jitte
3 Threads of disloyalty

R1: Pitch Long 2-0
R2: Mirror   1-1
R3: Absolutely no idea what he was playing since I helped him a bit in his mana screw  2-0
R4: Oath 2-0
R5: Fish with confidant 2-1
R6: French Deck (called ZeBrainStorm) 2-1
R7: Friend playing Dragon with Squee, he's the only being 6-0 so I concede and we'll split
R8: CSlaver 2-0

I did hate savannah lions and isamaru each time I was playing them
I'll cut a tundra, and change the SB, because playing cards with WW and UU in the casting cost sux

The deck can't handle a DSC and that's imho a real problem

All the names were removed.  It wasn't meant to be a shaming in any way.  I just wanted to try and be thorough.  Anyone who knows me knows that I do my best never to offend people, and apologize if anyone was offended.
You can still get names through scg, I think he wanted to say to just not even put the #finish

c) Why sundering titan instead of DSC?
You should try to weld a DSC
