My wife's not down with me playing Magic on our anniversary.  Crying or Very sad  But she like's the idea of going to Chicago!  Maybe, just maybe.

Thanks for the lists!  Joey Smith's decklist is missing 4x Forbidden Orchards i belive.  What was the meta breakdown like?  Was their much Derdge or Stax represented?
3  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: First place with "The Deck" @ First Brussel Vintage Championship on: January 21, 2010, 12:06:38 am
Congrats on the top finish!!  How was the Oath transformation side?  What did you bring Greater gargadon in against?  Lastly how were Mind Twist and Balance in the deck?  Any changes you'd make if you could go back?  Why Crucible and not Life from the Loam?  Sorry about all the question just trying to get more insight.

I love the Watskeburt idea!  Cool name what does it mean?

I don't see how this thread is benificial to the community without even a meta report.  Who played what?  How many people showed?
6  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Scholar's Weekly Vintage Results Thread on: October 27, 2009, 02:47:26 am
How many people showed?  What decks were the top {7} playing?
7  Archives / Tournament Announcement Forum / Re: Large USA-based Vintage Tournament on: October 22, 2009, 11:48:59 pm
Could be fun but PA is a little too far away for me and my group.  It'll be hard enough trying to get to Chicago for the next ICBM Extreme Open.  Something this big with enough publication could be HUGE!  You'd definately get overseas players with the original prize structure.

Apparently when she comes into play you name Michael Solymossy and your opponent scoops!  New tech!!

Thanks Nico!  This is a nice glimpse into the Asian meta.  That Mirroir Magique deck looks CrAzY!
10  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Icon 10-10 report - double win - vroman on: October 13, 2009, 10:39:26 am
Vroman and Colin are friends.  I've scooped to a friend before when I didn't stand much of a chance of getting T8.  I'm sure other mambers of a
"Team" have worked out prize splits before.  It may not be too savory to some people but I happens.

12  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Premium Article] The COMPLETE Vintage Checklist! on: October 05, 2009, 10:00:45 pm
I made my own personal Vintage Checklist about a month ago, and my list differs from Steve's as will anyone else's.  The basic skeleton is the same, but when you start comparing quantities things change.  Some of the accessories change but the the fundementals hold true.  That said Chuck Norris should definately be on the list!

Any of the Zen cards make an appearance?
14  Eternal Formats / Midwest U.S. / Re: Xtreme Games Monthly Vintage September 09 on: September 23, 2009, 11:40:08 pm
Though the winning list kind of sums up what I don't like about vintage right now.

I kinda like seeing a deck win that doesn't have 4x Dark Confidant in it.  But I've also played 4x Force of will and 4x Mana Drain in most every deck I've played in the last 6 years.
15  Archives / Tournament Announcement Forum / Re: ICBM Xtreme Open #2 tentative setup on: August 26, 2009, 10:30:14 pm
The 2-day, 2-Tournament thing is great and realy makes it worth driving the 8 hours one-way.  That prize structre is based on how many people?  While I'm not personally much of a legacy player I'm sure I could get a deck together to play.

1 Chris Roberts
2 Dan Cunningham

We split, but agreed we would play for the "title".  I won the match 2-0. Not bad with little to no sleep after I drove all 15 hours back from Gencon overnight and getting back this morning at 9am. Lol

What deck did you play?  Did you play in the Vintage event at GenCon?  Was it the same deck?

21  Eternal Formats / Eternal Article Discussion / Re: [Premium Article] So Many Insane Plays -- Meandeck Beats ! on: August 15, 2009, 08:03:40 pm
Steve shouldn't have to defend his deck creation.  I was playing in the same room as him when someone said something along the line of "Oh Man!  Steve just got crushed by his own deck!"  Each deck has its own short commings and this deck is no different.  I'm curious to find out if anyone had the juice to play this deck at Gencon and how they did.  But even that wouldn't matter because Steve would have done better.

Vintage Championship Prelim is tonight.  I hope for CONSTANT updates and hope for a spoiler on that Steel City Vault deck!
23  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: [EPIC THREAD] Pheldagrif's Vintage Championship thread with bonus challenge! on: August 12, 2009, 01:15:22 am
No kidding!  I predict a shop deck will roll the competition.  That's only cause I can't make it.  Good luck Soly!  If you don't go on tilt I see another top 8 in your future, but only top 8.   Wink
24  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Painter's Key on: July 29, 2009, 03:09:56 pm
I completely understand where you are comming from and I have had the chance to play the deck without the top/key.  I think it's a matter of preference and meta.  At the tournament I went to I did not play against a null rod all day.  Null rod does hurt the deck even with bounce and blasts/painter.  I have been looking into other directions that the deck can go but can't go into much detail without further testing.  This is my new pet deck  I enjoy any insight into ANY painter deck or card options that are pertinent.

Thanks!
25  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: [Results] Vintage Side Event at U.S. Nationals 7/26/09 on: July 29, 2009, 03:02:01 pm
My cousin and I decided to play out the match that LSV and Ochoa split.  Take into consideration we are not quite the skilled competitors that they are, I won with Ochoa's deck 2 out of 3 matches with an overall  record of 5-3 (2-1, 1-2, 2-0).  Fun decks to play, LSV your deck is no BS! what a tough deck!
26  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Painter's Key on: July 24, 2009, 01:01:27 am
Thanks for ALL the input.  This IS a great deck to play.  I haven't had this much fun playing magic in years, Stomping a mudhole in my small yet competitive playcircle.

I LOVE the Key-Top draw engine.  The thing's I've done with Mystical and/or Vampiric Tutor on the stack spell G-A-M-E.  If I'm going to include the Key for the Top I might as well have the Time Vault in there.  I couldn't take out the Trinket Mage cause he's tutoring up what you need.  Tezzeret is uber.  Darkblast is freakin great cause it takes care of Bob and his friends, and has extra synergy with the Top.  Thoughtseize and Duress kinda slowed me down a little.  I feel that in todays games people are prepared for Inky and will Hurkyl's him back to my had so it might as well be DSC to let them feel the clock.  I did however get locked in to a Null Rod-Magus of the Moon lock earlier, it made me want to put the Shamans back in.  The petal is wonderful, so is Repeal but I might cut one to try Academy Ruins.

27  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Jake Kempfer's ICBM Xtreme Open report--Day 2 top 8 with Painter on: July 23, 2009, 09:46:48 am
congrats Jake!  Our mirror match in round 5 were the best games I played all weekend!  I look forward to playing you again in the future.
28  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: The New Ichorid Thread! on: July 22, 2009, 10:37:53 am
Anyways, it seems like Ichorid has fallen off the planet or something, being nobody plays it anymore, from what ive seen in tournament reports and research, but it should be still very alive. Very few people have been playing this deck lately, and i think its time to basically bring it back.

Ichorid is very much alive.  There's just ALOT of hate in peoples sideboard.  I love playing Ichorid and game 1 I'm almost for sure a win.
29  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Painter's Key on: July 22, 2009, 10:21:38 am
Thanks for the coments.  I did have a couple of hands that were a little awkward with the vault-painter, but they wern't awkward for long.  Ignot chewer was the nuts that day and should have been in my board.  Getting Tez and Gifts in this deck are a priority and I will try the thoughtseize main.  Duress in side was useless, extirpate helped but not as much as a 3rd jailer would have (I hate Ichorid).  Thanks for the info.  keep it rolling

Wink

Don't let people get you down, CHAMP.  Congrats on the win!  You cut through an Underground Sea of Champions, Some of the BEST VINTAGE PLAYERS in the world were at the tourney and you emerged the victor.  I wish I had the chance to play you.  Maybe next time I can get to Chi-Town.
