1  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Mad Dragon? on: March 19, 2004, 05:19:26 am
In the past few weeks a new "hybrid" of two decks has been doing quite well.  Mad Dragon as it has become to be known combines the madness creatures with the dragon combo, theses two have great synergy together as they both rely on discarding cards.  With my current meta being mostly artifact prison; and a lot of slaver, is it better to play Dragon.dec (just the combo) or would I be better of playing Mad Dragon?

Here is a smaple deck list for Mad Dragon:

Mana
4 Bazaar of Baghdad
4 Wooded Foothills
4 Taiga
2 Bayou
2 Badlands
1 Forest
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Emerald
1 Lotus Petal
1 Black Lotus

Creatures
4 Elvish Spirit Guide
4 Squee, Goblin Nabob
4 Wild Mongrel
4 Basking Rootwalla
3 Arrogant Wurm
2 Worldgorger Dragon
1 Shivan Hellkite
1 Anger
1 Caller of the Claw

Other
3 Animate Dead
2 Necromancy
4 Duress
4 Survival of the Fittest
1 Demonic Tutor

Sideboard
4 Red Elemental Blast
4 Artifact Mutation
3 Null Rod
2 Verdant Force
2 Necromancy

Also with the meta i mentioned what would be the best sideboard choices?

Well, it's cheaper.

Yes its cheaper, but its incredibly inconsistent, and many times it will just stall out on you.  Ninja mask is the way to go.

If you voted yes, quit Magic now before it's too late.

This is tottaly true, for all of you that voted yes, just quit now...

Twister goes against what hulk is trying to do, which is abuse cards in its grave yard.  Its full of cards like deep analysis, accumulated knowledge, and its graveyard is key to creating a lethal tog.  If you use twister then all your doing is giving your oppnenet more time, this is never good.
4  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / The Problem With FEB on: March 17, 2004, 05:48:23 pm
The main problem with playing FEB these days is that it looses to many of the same cards that Dragon.dec does.  Graveyard hate hate is running rampant and FEB has no way to deal with this.  If you can come up with a way to deal with it then it is pretty solid, but till then its only good for "fish bowling"
5  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / No Need For Xantid in the sideboard on: March 17, 2004, 07:54:04 am
The idea of FCG is that it has 2 ways of winning the match:
1: it can combo off before your opponent has a chance to set up or
     2. It can turn into goblin beats (your best choice against control)

The first option should be attempted only if you are against combo or aggro, control should not be much of a problem considering that you should just beable to play threat after threat until theny cant counter any more, eventually something will get throug.  This is why Xantid would be completly useless against control, it would just slow you down a full turn, when you could just be concentrating on beating them down with goblins.
FCG is an Agro-Combo deck, not a straight combo deck.
6  Eternal Formats / Creative / Myr Enforcer on: March 16, 2004, 09:07:26 am
I agree with Fuzzedball, Myr Enforcer is the correct choice if you are looking for another beat stick.  He can be played quickly and could also be played for pretty cheap if you already have the lock components out, however he might not be the best idea with all the mana drains running around.
The deck looks pretty solid other than that, it seems that u could get the lock pretty fast and then continue to beat the down while they are still locked.  However it seems that your lock is not forever and if your beaters cannot finish them in time they will survive long enough to come back and "win the prize."
