1  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: [Results] Crazy T8 from Iserlohn on: September 05, 2005, 04:29:01 pm
6 Bird Shit
6 Landstill
5 R/G Beatz

cs doesnt like these kind of decks..

thats the only explanation that makes sense to me..

I wonder how u perform against chalice?

probably 50% of the decks around have a set maindeck and the others sb..

chalice 1 really hurts ur deck as does chalice 2,0

I don't know the exact number..

But i played Stax 5 times in a row..

The % of Ws-decks was very high..

maybe 40% overall

and maybe 70% in the high seats

Well, the tournament was quite funny..
Regarding the lists: There were 4 stax,2gifts,1 control slaver,1 metagamed u/w
My gifts list was pretty much standard(no goddamn cwishes omg ^^)
Carstens list had a white splash and duress instead of MisD..

And of course i showed up but i conceded to Rene because we are teammates and he had the better matchups..

The Enslaver played cwishes md..

How about moving one sphere of resistance to the sb in favor of a md Trinisphere?

I still think that the effect of trini is strong Smile
6  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Vintage Championship in France Top8 on: May 16, 2005, 12:13:41 pm
Yeah and Dragon can win with Mulligan 4.. even if there isn't a bazaar in the opening grid..
just draw Mana Crypt,Mox Sapp,Uriver,Deep Analysis... then the next 5 cards something like bazaar,double-squee,stifle for the fetchland and ancest ;>

Like Stephane did against me in the t8..
I think the coverage will be up soon.

Maybe you shouldn't blame everything that doesn't match ur expectation of a T8, rather you could see it as an possible metagame shift for the future..

Well, it was a nice tourney and I'm looking forward to visit the French Vintage Championship 2006..

7  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / When do we go for it ... on: November 19, 2004, 10:13:43 am
I would never play that hand the aggressive way.. in order to establish a turn2 win, u would have to fetch a usea(doomsday-->ancest)
That exposes you to wasteland, trinisphere(doesn't really make  a difference.. here the right way would be brainstorm in order to find a fow o_O )or a counter which would kill you..

I would drop the sphere and wait a turn.. (fetching an island of course)

Then you would have far more options on the next turn...
8  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Metagame Shifts: Debating the Future of Fish on: November 01, 2004, 10:01:00 am
For anyone who doesn't know yet..

Gay/r took first @ yesterdays moers..
It was a very bad and random list, unpowered, containing 2 mana leaks,2 counterspells wtf?

There were 39 Players and fish went undefeated.

The T8 was something like

1. Fish(5-0-1)
2. MeanOath(5-1)
all other 4-1-1
3. DeathLong
4. Stax
5. Random suxx Oath
6-8. another stax, reanimator and smt else...

Imo, if a bad player with a bad version of the deck(NO matter HOW lucky he was) doesn't lose to one of the decks(he played against the meanoath and the long)and wins the tournament, doesn't that tell us something about the strength of the archetype?

Olli will up the decklists soon..

I don't know if we should just call it "random" "ultra" luck..
9  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Metagame Shifts: Debating the Future of Fish on: October 29, 2004, 12:43:07 pm
just some ideas:

MD Deep Analysis, sponsored by waterfront bouncers against the bad matchups -> 5/3,oath

I also think the mono-u version would have some better matchup against control.

You have a solid manabase and fast "big" threats..

You would be faster than gay/r..

On the other side, with cutting red you lose cheap answers like lavamancer.

Thoughts anyone?

fish won't become landstill, the amount of crucible/wasteland prevents that.

And Landstill with crucible doesn't work as we all have seen..

Fish needs an universal hatecard(as da bomb), that hurts  a huge field of the meta.

The only card that could do do that at the moment is imo chains of mephistopheles...

This would shift away from cards like curiosity standstill brainstorm n stuff, towards impulse and duress.

of course u would have to add black.

Then the deck looks like handcard denial instead of mana denial.

any suggestions?

I don't want to spam the thread with decklists, but i throwed some ideas together and built a different "fish" build.

It isn't focussed on Rod anymore.

Dark fishes ;>

Creatures
  4 Spiketail Hatchling
  4 Cloud of Faeries
  3 Phyrexian Negator

Spells
  1 Time Walk
  1 Black Lotus
  1 Mox Jet
  1 Mox Sapphire
  1 Ancestral Recall
  4 Duress
  2 Diabolic Edict
  4 Curiosity
  3 Daze
  4 Standstill
  4 Force of Will
  4 Brainstorm

Lands
  2 Island
  4 Wasteland
  1 Strip Mine
  3 Underground Sea
  2 Swamp
  4 Polluted Delta
  3 Mishra's Factory

Sideboard

  3 Lose Hope
  2 Arcane Laboratory
  2 Null Rod
  1 Phyrexian Negator
  1 Diabolic Edict
  2 Blue Elemental Blast
  4 Energy Flux

Thats the list i'm toying around with @ the moment.

It has a better matchup against oath.

This are just my alpha thoughts, so dont kill me ;>

The current meta is dominated by combo and control, so negators seem to be invited for a comeback.

Any thoughts?

I'm not familiar with oathstill.dec.

Maybe you can just post a decklist to talk about...

Fish could beat tog and Workshop-Slaver, and was mainly played because it could beat them.

With the shift of the metagame it wasn't the deck to play anymore, so people added green for River Boa an stuff.

I think its just a matter of time until somebody gets a genius idea which will make it viable again and tune it towards the new meta.

I could imagine that it will be something mono-u with firewalker replacing lavamancer or smt like that.

Just like its called in the newer age -> "Back 2 the roots"
13  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / U/G Oath on: October 06, 2004, 06:24:58 am
I think you also should consider Regrowth as a bomb in this deck.

Just oathing a big part of your library in your graveyard bringing and a big creature in game and recurring time walk or yawwill kicks ass.

Another maybe good card is Deep Analysis, cause ur playing oath and intuitions.
