1  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [Report]Team GRO's GAT takes NYC's Workshop. on: August 10, 2004, 07:11:59 pm
Just wondering Ultima, wasn't there a match where you Naturalize'd one Oath of Druids, Yawg Will'd, and nabbed the other Oath of Druids? This was in your Landstill match.

2  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / New T1 Agro deck (Ravager/Atog), 70% turn three kills on: March 27, 2004, 02:22:46 am
My friend has been playtesting a Ravager deck. It's pretty insane---as it can outrace (sometimes) my 2-land Belch. Instead of completely committing to the aggro route, he has 3 win conditions, depending on what he draws/faces against:

1) Affinity beats - really fast beats from Type II.
2) Ravager/Disciple - swing, sac', Disciple damage, Ravager damage, gg.
3) Tendrils. Free spells = free storm.

Mana Sources: (25)
1X Black Lotus
2X Chromatic Sphere
4X Dark Ritual
1X Lion's Eye Diamond
1X Lotus Petal
1X Mana Crypt
1X Mox Emerald
1X Mox Jet
1X Mox Pearl
1X Mox Ruby
1X Mox Sapphire
4X Seat of the Synod
1X Sol Ring
1X Tolarian Academy
4X Vault of Whispers

Tutors: (3)
1X Demonic Tutor
1X Tinker
1X Vampiric Tutor

Draw: (7)
1X Ancestral Recall
1X Memory Jar
4X Thoughtcast
1X Timetwister

Disruption: (4)
1X Trinisphere
3X Sphere of Resistance

Utility: (4)
3X Ornithopter
1X Time Walk

Kill: (17)
4X Arcbound Ravager
4X Disciple of the Vault
4X Frogmite
3X Myr Enforcer
1X Tendrils of Agony
1X Yawgmoth's Will

I know it looks a bit janky, but hybrid decks have recently been showing their strengths lately, and I think this road for Affinity is better than all-out aggro.

This version doesn't roll over and die to combo---it can beat it to the punch, plus packing disruption like Sphere and Trinisphere is cool---the Sphere balances itself out with Affinity (spells cost +1, but itself is an artifact, -1) and Frogmites and Enforcers don't really care about Trinisphere anyway.

Now, the big question is---is there room for red? Welders? Wheel? My friend and I have been trying to figure it out.

From starcitygames, a pretty good outline IMO:

just a thought:hs anyone thought of putting yawgwill on the mirror for when you need it in a pinch or even sinkhole could be devastating(think about it bye bye land every turn).

Repeated YawgWins wouldn't be worth it. Any cards that go to the graveyard get removed from the game, so the next YawgWin would have even less to do stupid things with.

5  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [Deck] Charbelcher Combo 2004 on: March 19, 2004, 01:49:30 pm
I don't know about building it so it supports Force of Will---I run 3X Welders, plus 1X to wish for in the sideboard if something bad happens to a Belcher. I can't see myself holding certain cards back to pitch for FoW, as opposed to going out and trying to win this turn.

But if it comes down to it, should Transmute Artifact be a contender? It's a blue pitch, even if it's a bad 2nd Tinker (but better than Reshape).

6  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [Deck] Charbelcher Combo 2004 on: March 18, 2004, 04:49:58 pm
This deck is crazy fast.

For those that run Living Wish, would Orcish Lumberjack do any good as a sideboard slot?

7  Eternal Formats / Creative / Why did you choose to play Type 1? on: March 18, 2004, 03:20:21 pm
I play Type I because I can only spend so much time on Magic. Type II seems to consume too much to be good at, and I like the benefit of not playing Magic for a bit and coming back with my cards still legal.
