I have an old build of parfait that i have been playing for a long time.. its been unchanged since um.. i dont remember the set name but its the one with isochron septer which just shows how long its been.. i have been playing on and off for a long time while friends update/build new decks with new cards and i have to say parfait is still awesome.
my build only has 1 power (pearl) and leans toward a budget build.. i dont remember the exact build right now but ill tell you my opinion on what has really worked for me and what looks good

-tithe is great for unpowered versions of this deck and works with the low mana count which i think is necessary to run tax/belcher (which is my kill as well)
-4 chant + 4 abeyance = 8 time walk and with 4 septer people just scoop.. now im not saying this is necessary but it works for me
-i run a random plateau to tithe up to play 2 blood moon main.. its an old meta choice but still relevant IMO
-also with red splash you can use burning wish to grab something like scorched earth(interesting with planar birth/squee), replenish, cleansing meditation, even wrath if needed
-i would say Path gets the nod over STP now
-i run 2 aura main 1 seal random #s ya but they never hurt
-i also always ran 1 humility 1 moat main they are both awesome but sometimes you might need one over the other or both

canonist does look good but i have always looked at parfait as creatureless.. its great against combo but with my 4 chant/abeyance it seems to slow them down enough to get one on a stick.. yes vulnerable to bounce but so is solitary confinement

and to answer your other Q this deck is not aggressive in the least bit.. take your time and dont swcew up

edit: forgot to mention how good 4 mox diamond looks but i never liked chrome
