Hello, my name is Bret Lindholm and I am hosting a single T1 Power Tournament in Vancouver Washington, which is just across the river from Portland Oregon. The date is Sunday February 27th at Noon; registration begins at 11:00 AM.

1st Place is an Unlimited Mox Emerald
2nd Place is a Unlimited Timetwister
3rd Place is an Unlimited Berserk
4th Place is 4 Wastelands
5th - 8th Place is a Yawgmoth's Will for each person

Location:
The Batcave
6415 E Mill Plain
Vancouver, WA 98661
(360) 694-4947 (Though please direct any question about the tournament to me here at TMD or at LinkXwing@hotmail.com)

Format:
Vintage/Type 1 Unlimited Proxies
The $10 entry fee will buy you the first 5 proxies free; any additional proxies you wish in your deck will cost you $1 each. (Note: this is contrary to the information posted on www.northwestmagic.com)
Rounds will be Swiss style with a cut to top 8.

Decklist registration is required before the tournament begins and need to note which cards are being proxied in the deck. All proxies must be indistinguishable from the rest of the cards in the deck. The best way to do this is to use a sharpie on a card, not little pieces of paper inside a sleeve. Pleas make sure all proxies are easily distinguishable as proxies by your opponent, a spectator, or a judge's point of view, not necessarily just your own point of view.

Mike, owner of the store and level 1 DCI judge, will be the head judge of this tournament. I will be on hand to answer questions but I will be competing too, also we should have a level 2 judge, Paul Thompson, on hand but he will also be participating in the tournament.

Unfortunately this is just a single tournament for now, but The Batcave does host a Legacy tournament every Friday at 6:30 PM for $5 with usually a turnout of 20-30 people. I look forward to seeing you all there!
4  Eternal Formats / Creative / 2 Tog questions on: April 26, 2004, 03:02:53 pm
I play 1.5 'Tog alot in my area and I've slowly leaned that tog does indeed need acceleration.  It needs it to compete with the aggro that you come up against.  Without the mana acceleration of drain-->Deed (Or disk in Lanstill)  You can barely keep up with the weenie beats comming at you.  Drains power out Intuition and Deed.  Intuition and Deep A. make your early Tog big enough of a blocker to keep your opponent from attacking.

To really survive in T1 where the format is a full turn faster than 1.5 you needs drains AND power 9.

My advice: get Drains and play tog in 1.5 or find another deck.

Let's see...You took standard Landstill, bastardized it with a Landstill/UR Fishy hybrid because they both use Standstill as a draw engine (even through one of the main cards in Landstill is it's disk which will blow up your critters).

Then you realized that disk blew up your creatures so you wanted a critter to live through the disk and what better than masticore right...?  Then you realized Masticore was too slow so you crippled your mana base to add Mishra's Workshop to accelerate Masticore and Disk out.

My only question about your build is....WTF?!
