Eternal Formats / Creative / SEEKING CARD - red or artifact anti-enchantment

Heh, solace indeed. But still, I've rebuilt so that in the off chance that someone boards a CoP against me, I can keep a flaring pain back to get crucial burn through. I usually have the mana to price of progress, pyroblast to protect it, and still float 1R to cast the pain. S !

Eternal Formats / Creative / SEEKING CARD - red or artifact anti-enchantment

Well, since nobody countered your Animate Dead... The guy I play test with wanted to play some T1 to practice his decks (at the time mainly an Academy combo deck and whatever the goblin welder/survival of the fittest/squee deck is being called). Having just reentered the game after quitting around Mirage, I turned to net-decking a budget T1. I found "Poula's Ankh" on BB or SC or wherever, and built it using a proxy ruby. Turns out I washed early from GP Columbus and got to try it for real in an 18 person T1 affair using said friend's ruby. I did well (finished 4-1 3rd place). I have since tricked out the list a bit to deal with certain problems I've encountered. Here is your list I used pretty much as you posted it: Poula's Ankh 4 Ankh of Mishra 1 Black Vise 4 Cursed Scroll 1 Mox Ruby 4 Chain Lightning 1 Fork 4 Gorilla Shaman 4 Incinerate 4 Jackal Pup 4 Lightning Bolt 4 Mogg Fanatic 4 Price of Progress 16 Mountain 1 Strip Mine 4 Wasteland Sideboard 4 Pyroblast 3 Pyrokinesis 4 Pyrostatic Pillar 4 Red Elemental Blast Assuming you are the Poula in question... thanks! S !

Eternal Formats / Creative / SEEKING CARD - red or artifact anti-enchantment

Those are great, exactly what I am after. apocalypse - ahh... no thanks. anarchy - takes care of BWC also! Double duty for 1 slot. flaring pain - eureka! This is what I was thinking of. thran lense - nice and cheap, but only gets my creatures through ghostly flame - would be perfect... but no black. Even adding a jet wouldn't be enough. goblin welder - hmmm... that might work to combat smokestack nicely. Thanks for all the ideas. Now I have to build a few Sbs and give them some testing. S !

Hmm. Stone = 3 + 5 / two turns, Disk = 4 + 1 / two turns. Sigh.
I hate to break down a mono deck just to board white for disenchant. Maybe I'll just have to suck it up.
I seem to faintly recall some way to make red damage colorless?
Dave - forgot to respond to your last... I'm attempting to round out the deck vs the general metagame. The deck already does good against some combo and aggro, so I'm looking to patch up specific weaknesses.
Thanks.

Allrighty then... no harm no foul. Apologies for knee-jerking in retribution. Deep breath... starting over...
Dave - I should have been more specific, my bad. I'm running a sligh/burn deck made by someone named Poula. Giving him props, because it works and is surprisingly playable against the big boys even though it is budget.
Anyway, the deck is mono-red. I played in a T1 and went 4-1 (I know, I was shocked also). The games I lost were either to a crippling enchantment (CoP: Red, etc) or to rude artifacts (smokestack mostly) or to Exalted Angel (I have this one covered).
I can handle the artifacts using shattering pulse, crash, shatter, etc. But there are a ton of sick T1 enchantments, and I was hoping for some savior.
Thanks.
S !

Wow. I was referred to this board by someone I met at GTP Columbus. And my second post get moved to the Newbie board (no real problem with that) with a blaring red comment that essentially says "We don't want people who don't know where to find their answers asking questions here" and a rude reply implying that I have no clue how Magic works in general.
The reply was rude but you have to understand there are a LOT of members on this site and we can't control every little thing everyone says, I wouldn't think too much of it
Thanks for that. Wish he'd have warned me about this board being rude and elitist.
Now you're being rude. We aren't elitist, we just like to keep things in the right places. Yes there are forums with restricted access but that is only to prevent replies like the one you got from happening on the most respected of Vintage forums.[/color]
There are what, 32ish sets now x 300ish cards minus some reprints... around 8000+ cards? And there isn't ONE card that I might not know about that would help me against enchantments? Asking that makes me a loser somehow? Wow.
We never said you were a loser, that was self applied. There's no need to be defensive, there's nothing shameful about the newbie forum.
Dave - thanks for the comments and questions, but frankly I don't feel welcome here to discuss it. Maybe I'll PM you.
Of course you're welcome to discuss it, but please keep the site-bashing to yourself and your issues to PMs in the future.
-Eastman

Looking for a RED or ARTIFACT that destroys, removes, kills, or otherwise hoses enchantments. Happy to take a targeted or global killer, either way is fine. Strictly a SB card for my deck. As cheap to cast as possible, but I'll try anything.
TIA.
S !
I'd say this is already questionable for the newbie forum. There are plenty of resources for this purpose available elsewhere.

Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Choosing the right card protectors...how?

The new Ultra Pro SATIN sleeves are very nice. A little more sturdy than the last run of metallics. Also, the are all cut the same length, which if you have a bunch of metallics you know how much differing length sleeves blows. [Can we say "blows" here? ] Anyway, the satins are a bit tough to shuffle till you break them in. But I've been using my T1 deck hard with them for over 40 games now with no rips, and they don't bend like the metallics. MTC. S !

Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Null Rod and Moxen
|
on: April 01, 2004, 07:11:25 am

Null Rod states: "Players cannot play any artifact abilities requiring an activation cost." My opponent in an recent type 1 tourney claimed that this affected my Mox Ruby. In retrospect, this doesn't seem correct. Does anyone know the ruling on this card? Thanks. S ! ps - Sure, I should have called a judge... but I stomped him regardless. Just want to know for the betterment of humankind.
