I'm a complete newb.  Can someone be a bit more specific?

I posted a line asking for good budget alternatives for Ancestral Recall.  Someone came into the forum and gave a snottty remark.  the thread is now locked.  Why is this? if there is a reasonable explanation,, inform me!  But otherwise, id on't appreciate being made fun of.
