I agree.

Kiki-Hussar is the best Tooth targets. I'm also not sure about the Heartbeats. I've never seen a Tooth deck with Heartbeats in it.

I would change the deck to:

-1 Akroma, Angel of Wrath
-1 Hellkite Overlord
-1 Magister Sphinx
-1 Progenitus
+1 Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker
+1 Sky Hussar
+1 Simic Sky Swallower
+1 Path to Exile
Replace Cancel with Hinder

A 2-mana hard counter, like Remand, Delay, or Memory Lapse, might be better than Mana Leak. If the deck can consistently win turn 3-4, Delay would be the ticket then, no?

I put Simic Sky Swallower in because he's a shrouded fatty that you can hard-cast if needed. There are other acceptable alternatives though, like Inkwell Leviathan.

Hope these suggestions help. Good luck!

Hello!

Just joined here.

I go to college in Tampa, Florida. I'm studying to get my engineering master's degree.

This site really astounded me when I saw it. I work in research, and I was astounded at the level of care that is taken to "separate the wheat from the chaff" on these forums. The quality controls in place are pretty similar to those at a scientific journal. In my opinion, a lot less BS about Magic would be spewed if every forum had such high standards.

I've been playing Magic for about 5 years, since my senior year of high school. I got into it because I was fed-up with Yu-Gi-Oh, and friends told me Magic was a much better game (they weren't kidding!) I started playing about 2 weeks after the "Darksteel" expansion in the Mirrodin block came out. Oddly enough, I had a relatively easy time adjusting to the game during this time, because the ridiculously-overpowered Ravager Affinity deck was at, more or less, the same level of broken-ness that existed in Yu-Gi-Oh.

Because school takes up so much of my time (and money), I don't really play competively anymore. Also, I don't know if its just a Florida thing or what, but I just can't stand alot of the people that play the game in real life. Alot of them have very bad attitudes, talk smack, or will steal from you. Despite that though, I really love this game. It just has that special flair about it that you don't get from video games, books, or television.

Right now, I just collect goodies for my Type 4 deck (my favorite format!)

I'm thinking about getting into Vintage/Legacy later in life though, because even though its alot of money up front, its cheaper in the long run. I know people that have bought 1-2 boxes of each set since Tempest so they could stay current with Type 2.

I'm always down for some freebie Apprentice play though!
