My friend and I are making casual decks, Ive always like ug madness, but haven't been looking at new cards much because we have always played vintage. Any potantial cards I can throw in there without altering the "staples" for madness that are newer

i solid tezz hate Fish deck (bug fish, or gwu fish) with artifact removal and a heavy stax/shop board could pull thru as well.
I don't understand the part about tezz...can you please retype that?

Eternal Formats / Creative / meta question

I have a few upcoming tournaments and my meta consists of mostly drains (split between tezz/painter and lots of stax/shops with very little aggro), between TPS, GWSx, and tezz what makes the most sense to play? (I will not play ichorid) Thanks in advance for the advice.

got it, but i do not like ignorance...
It's not ignorance. You can win a tournament with a sub-optimal deck. You can win with an optimal deck. Regardless, he was stating that some of the Ichorid posts are using lists are not as efficient or lack particular cards to survive in the current meta. There may be preference, but there is also the meta game to shape decisions for what's in and what's out. bro, listen, nothing is "sub-optimal". Do i have to post my entire meta game for you? no, i do not, so i play based on what is around me, so in that case, no deck would be suboptimal. Contribute to the thread, and stop talking out of your ass trying to defend this guy Flaming and ignoring moderation instructions are not acceptable conduct. See prior post.

A friend of mine plays River Kelpie instead of Cephalid Sage, and i beleive you should try him as well. I think in the end the extra draw the kelpie effectively provides is worth it.
Cephalid sage > River Kelpie reason being, why do you want to sac more creatures to draw, when you would have less Bridges in your yard, giving you less tokens, and Sage prepares it for you Not quite; Kelpie does need support, yes, but the support is already there. Return Ichorid? Dredge. Is that a Dread return? Dredge. You putting a Narc into play? Dredge. This is something that Sage can't really do. The only advantage Sage has, IMO, is that you can discard more dredgers after you draw. Sage also has the advantage of being somewhat safer. While the built-in support for Kelpie is already there, that doesn't account for the times your Dredges have been unusual and failed to provide you with that support. However, I have found Kelpie, on average, to at least immediately Dredge as well as Sage and sometimes it has dredged out my entire deck immediately on its own. Untapping with Kelpie in play usually means you win - you can spread him out over 2 turns, unlike Sage. I play with Kelpie in my Legacy deck, and run neither in my Vintage list. thats exactly what i was thinking, in terms of wierd dreges..like random compiled crap instead of something benefitting

This thread somehow blows because we already have like infinite lists, the majority of them being suboptimal.
This. And the old tread was good enough. you guys are acting like little kids. Just leave the thread for people who want to actually talk about the deck, and not critisim by you dudes acting like little 8 year old girls who cant even wipe their own asses. and what do you define as "suboptimal", play Magic, and stop thinking youre the best...people play what they want to, wtf is "suboptimal" if it wins Full Warning for violation of Rule III, Inflammatory Posting. -DA

Dread Return, kelpie, dredge. Cabal Therapy kelpie, dredge 3 times. I beleive Kelpie is just more consistant TBH it might just be a matter or preference.... what if its early in the game, and you only have a dread return and a few creatures, Sage would be optimal

Whoever made the 1st Ichorid thread is slacking, so its time for me to remake it. First off, if anyone has any questions about playing the deck, feel free to ask. Anyways, it seems like Ichorid has fallen off the planet or something, being nobody plays it anymore, from what ive seen in tournament reports and research, but it should be still very alive. Very few people have been playing this deck lately, and i think its time to basically bring it back.
i was recently in a tournament, rather small one, and i was the only player playing Ichorid, and i placed 1st. heres my decklist, and suggestion would help:
Lands
4x Bazaar of Baghdad 4x Dryad Arbor
Creatures
4x Ichorid 4x Golgari Grave-Troll 4x Golgari Thug 4x Stinkweed Imp 4x Narcomoeba 1x Sundering Titan 2x Cephalid Sage 2x Flame-Kin Zealot
Spells
3x Chalice of the Void 4x Bridge from Below 4x Dread Return 4x Cabal Therapy 4x Serum Powder 4x Leyline 4x Unmask
Sideboard
4x Contagion 3x Wooded Foothills 3x Reverent Silence 3x Ancient Grudge 2x Emerald Charm
I understand there are many different ways to play this deck, but after much play testing and research, this seems to be the best list, for me that is. i would like something to compare it too, so please post your lists as well

I will be there Saturday too hopefully bringing 4 others. Ichorid rematch time.
How has Sundering Titan been? You didn't get to play it against me so I'm not sure how good it is, but it's an interesting choice for sure.
i actually played sundering titan once, against Josh's Oath, and won the match. i see it like if i cant win turn 2 and i have him there, i can dread return him for some disruption, and it did work, being i couldnt win that turn but destroyed his lands. Also, it takes Inkwell on, and basically wastes Tinker. Plus, Sundering Titan looks cool!

Yep congrats on winning dude, well played. The Cabal Therapy on Force of Will won you the last game. I'm really liking manaless right now, much more than the Crop Rotation dredge. Did you have an answer for Platinum in the deck at all though? I didn't see one unless you had Ancient Grudge or Angel of Despair I never saw. Just wondering. I'm definitely going to have to actually pay attention to Ichorid now.
Well, thanks for the support guys, i really apperciate it..being i was really never in a vintage tournament before. The thing was, that i have been playing Ichorid for about 2-3 years, when it was just an idea. I took that and created my own, with Sundering Titan, and never wanted to make it run mana. And yes, i didnt have an answer for angel, i was running Ancient Grudge. People have really changed Ichorid since it first started being played, with Angel of Despair and such, but i kept it simple. Also if anyone is a free agent, meaning they arent on a team or anything, they can always team up with mine. If youre interested, please let me know or Joe (shadow).

Are you the Ichorid guy? ----------- Thanks to everybody who showed up. I had a good time, though a slightly disappointing finish, particularly after the proper play was shown to me after game 3. But, that's why you practice; it's my own fault. I hope we continue to have these in the future. yea, i am the ich player...lol and great match Josh, although i knew i had game 2 on the second turn,...you played well also, Yare, are you Dave, which i played and then explain after what you should have done

very interesting article. Its a shock at first looking at the suggested decklist as the dynamics of it are alot different than TPS as we know it. The removal of grim tutor, the 3 off-color moxen, and mind's desire is also interesting as well. I for one am interested to playtest it and see how it works out, I would like to hear what other people think about that article. Who knows, maybe this is a step in the right direction for the revival of TPS?

I had a few questions in reference to TPS. First, I wanted to know if its viable to drop grim tutor completely, as I feel more so than not its a dead card plus its very costly @ 1BB, not to mention it's a sorcery. Second, assuming you run a full playset of duress, for arguments sake if you wanted to include thoughtseize as more disruption, would it make more sense to drop a 4th duress for it or could it be the replacement for grim?
