Actually the weapons are really different. The AWP is terrible while the scout is ridiculous. The updates to the autosniper happened in 1.5, it's been this good for awhile. 1.5 is way better, only noobs play 1.6. Seriously the quality of players is so much better in 1.5 because the best clans refuse to move over to 1.6.
Best clans? You mean like the ones that play for money and win it? Wait, there is no money in 1.5 tournaments. How can the best clans play it, then? Isn't 1.5 like 3-4 years old, anyway? Seriously, the weapons in 1.5 broke the maps. Aztec can't be balanced with quickzooming awps. Source has extremely balanced weapons, at balanced prices, on both of the teams. I don't see any CAL leagues running 1.5, either. And that's where all the cool kids play.

Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Prices on foil asians?

I've never attempted to apply foil to an asian, so I can't really say what the costs involved are for sure. I imagine it would take a fair amount of foil material and some patience, willingness, and understanding from the asian in question though in addition to substantial health issues, so the process would probably be quite expensive. Still, at the end of it you'd have a nice shiny asian, and that's bound to be worth something. I know there are a lot of guys out there who have a thing for asians, and shiny ones in particular could probably draw either a great deal of money or a great deal of jealousy. Good Lu...
Oh wait.
You were talking about cards.....
Best post ever.

Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Why Type 1 Takes Little Skill...What???

The game is compressed in t1, but has as many decisions, if not more than othe formats. This makes it more skill intensive becuase you are working with imperfect information in a very short amount of time to make a key decision. Isn't making decisions on imperfect information considered to be guessing? With things like workshop and redundant combo in an environment you do have alot of things happening all at once, but most of the decisions you make are either non interactive, or are very binary. Force of Will or no? After you get down the ability to make the "right play," high level magic "skill" has more to do with controlling your tells than anything. In a format where a game can literally be sealed by a first turn play. Tells and reads have very little to do with anything.

Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Tendrils of Agony at 1 life and Misdirection

Wait a minute. According to 502.30a in the comprehensive rules. "502.30a Storm is a triggered ability that functions while the spell is on the stack. "Storm" means "When you play this spell, put a copy of it onto the stack for each other spell that was played before it this turn. If the spell has any targets, you may choose new targets for any number of the copies."
Each copy is a spell on the stack separately. So priority passes in between each resolution of the copies. So a misdirection of the first one would put him at -1, priority passes, game ends due to state based effect.

I have been playtesting quite a bit today, and earlier I noticed a trend. Whenever I was playing with strips/crucible in a deck I found that I could win more consistently if I tried to go for this plan. So I started fitting them into other gameplans and the same really held true. I was literally playing with Hulk and winning more off the power of crucible/wasteland than I was wish/berserk. Anyone else seeing this?

I really built this without disruption by design. To see what the deck actually needs before tuning it. AK is there because of Intuition. I have Intuitioned Lotus/Led/Ancestral before just to get the third combo piece out. It seems to be a good tutor for this deck, and it has great synergy with AK. The extra tutors? I don't know. Plunge really doesn't seem to fit in this deck that well.. It is cheap and gets the card -now-, but it misses sometimes.. Maybe add FoWz instead of Plunge? Why pyrite as a kill? What would be better.. you do go infinite on storm count, as well.
As far as being viable, I am worried about hitting dragon splash damage while also being hurt by counters. You need the soldier in play. It goldfishes about the same as the other combo decks, though.

I have been testing a deck with locals on Apprentice that centers on the mana engine of Auriok Salvager from Fifth Dawn and Black Lotus/LED. It kills with pyrite spellbomb This is my first build. I designed it to go off fast without any hate for other decks. Here are the new cards.. Critique? ---- Auriok Salvagers - 3W Human Soldier 1W: Return target artifact card with converted mana cost 1 or less from your graveyard to your hand. 2/4 ---- Plunge into Darkness - 1B Instant Choose one – Sacrifice any number of creatures, then you gain 3 life for each sacrificed creature; or pay X life, then look at the top X cards of your library, put one of those cards into your hand, and remove the rest from the game. Entwine B ---- and.. the deck..
Combo --------- 3 Auriok Salvagers 1 Lion's Eye Diamond 1 Black Lotus 4 Pyrite Spellbomb
Search/Borken Stuff --------- 4 Accumulated Knowledge 3 Intuition 4 Brainstorm 1 Stroke of Genius 1 Ancestral Recall 1 Time Walk 1 Yawgmoth's Will 1 Yawgmoth's Bargain 1 Demonic Tutor 1 Vampiric Tutor 1 Enlightened Tutor 4 Plunge into Darkness 1 Necropotence
Non-Land Accelerants --------- 5 Moxen 1 Mana Crypt 1 Sol Ring 4 Dark Ritual
Land --------- 4 Underground Sea 3 Scrubland 5 Black Fetchlands 4 Gemstone Mine

Name: Tyler Barnwell Loc: Tennessee I am a 20 year old business applications developer that has been playing since Judgement. When I figured out that T2 and 1.X are both really stank, I started looking back. I discovered T1 on Apprentice and Magic Workstation. What craziness. .. maybe I will start posting/stop lurking.. later Favorite card: Sage Owl Favorite color: Blue Least favorite card: Favorite format: Draft/Sealed Favorite art: Mana Drain Favorite mechanic: Cycling Current deck: T1 Hulk Smash/Extended Madness/T2 Goblin Bidding I am currently in the market to port my T1 addiction to paper. I will probably start with blue duals and stuff. If anyone is selling, or wants to trade, email me at seifyk@hotmail.com or tyler@movies4sale.bizThanks.. later
