1  Eternal Formats / Creative / Pestilence....the Deck on: April 09, 2004, 10:59:26 am
Alright. I know that Pestilence used to be a fairly good deck. And seeing as there is this monster tournament coming up, I would like to see how well it works.

This is my current build:

3x Death Speakers
3x Crypt Rats
1x Sengir Vampire
4x Academy Rector
3x White Knight

2x Sphere of Grace
2x Urza's Armor

4x Duress
4x Pestilence
1x Demonic Tutor
1x Meekstone
4x Withering Wisps

4x Dark Ritual
15x Snow-Covered Swamp
6x Plains
4x Scrubland

Basically, get out some 1/1 for W with pro-black and then pop out a pestilence second turn (or withering wisps, which explains the snow-covered swamps) and start beating away. A sphere of grace is also a good thing to have out to stop damage from reaching you from the pestilence.

Card choices:
3x Death Speakers- A 1/1 for W with pro-black. What more could a player ask for?
3x Crypt Rats- An easy way to gain life/drain their life, and with a COP: Black out it prevents the damage to itself.
1x Sengir Vampire-This is really a finisher to speed up the game
4x Academy Rector-Tutors are always good
3x White Knight- Good pro black 2/2 with first strike.

2x Sphere of Grace- Prevents 2 damage from any black source if it would deal damage. Cheaper than Urza's Armor.
2x Urza's Armor- Still good to have some good old fashioned cards in hither.

4x Duress- Its good to be able to control the early game.
4x Pestilence- The game winner.
1x Demonic Tutor- Like I stated before, tutors are good.
1x Meekstone- Take that you stupid stompy decks/ morphling.
4x Withering Wisps- Another pestilence, just in case.

4x Dark Ritual- No explanation needed
15x Snow-Covered Swamp- Why not? Gives me 4 extra pestilence with no other change.
6x Plains
4x Scrubland

I think that I have WAY too many swamps in there....
What should i substitute? Any help is appreciated.
