We set the side event up with anybody having bad breaks in the main event in mind.  Like it says, free entry for anybody that played in the main event, maybe you can still walk off with something sweet.  We originally were going to give up the Mana Drain to the highest placing "un-powered" deck, but then decided that we would allow 10 Proxies, so we scrapped that plan, but still really wanted to give it up. We're not looking to make much on the side event, we just know people car-pool together and some do well, others hit the bad beat & either way they might have to stick around.  This is just a little something for them to go home with

It's November! That time of year when we all get together and give thanks for all the things that are great in life like turkeys, fireflies, Tivo, household cleaning products, and Mox Rubies!

This month, we've selected the Mox Ruby to be put up as our choice of the Power IX! The format you ask? It's about time to let the little kids come play with the big boys.

To many of the eternal players, Type 2 has been looked at as the easiest format, a joke really. However there are many that have come to show respect for the format as well as the players in it. Many of them have become known as champions of the game, creating some of the most ingenious and revolutionary deck ideas and concepts to come to battle on the tabletops. Get Your Game On is proud to announce the second coming of the Power IX. Welcome to the Vintage Battle.

Vintage is the oldest and most complex format available to Magic players as it uses the ENTIRE card pool from throughout Magic's history with only few restrictions. Players will now have access to the Power IX, as well as cards such as Library of Alexandria, Mana Drain, Mishra's Workshop, and Tinker. While these cards are now available to the players, a few have been deemed too strong for the game in it's entirety and have been labeled as "Restricted" in the format while fewer others are banned entirely. As restricted, cards are limited to one per deck. As banned, the cards are not allowed to be in the player's decks or sideboard in the tournament. Get Your Game On will be hosting a 15-Proxy Vintage Event. As many of the cards used in the format cost upwards of $200 and are growing increasingly rare, the players are permitted to "proxy" UP TO 15 cards in their decks. A proxied card is to be identical in every way to a standard magic card, with the exception that it CLEARLY NOTES the properties of the card it is representing. This means that cards cannot feel, bend or weigh differently than any other card in the decks. If the Head Judge feels that your proxies are not to these specifications, we will ask you to use one of ours.
Proxies must include:
~ Casting cost of the card
~ Name of the card

**Please Note! The tournament will be held on a SUNDAY to avoid traffic from the Saturday home U of M Football game.**

Parking isn't too difficult, there are meters up and down our street and the side streets, as well as free parking in the neighborhoods surrounding (signs on these streets will explain the hours better, but most are totally free as long as you don't park more than a whole day)

24-30 Players - One Near Mint Mox Sapphire (Unlimited) to 1st
31-50 Players - One Near Mint Mox Sapphire (Unlimited) to 1st, Store Credit and/or Packs to 2nd-8th
50+ Players - One Near Mint Mox Sapphire (Unlimited) to 1st, One Played Mox Sapphire (Unlimited) to 2nd, and Store Credit and/or Packs to 3rd-8th.

In the event of a Top 4 "split" we will give out the equivalent of the mox(es) as explained above to those 4 players in store credit.

Starting August 8th, 2009, Get Your Game On in Ann Arbor Michigan is giving away one piece of power each month with tournaments using varying formats!  From Vintage to Standard and everything in between!

We'll be starting with the Unlimited Mox Sapphire in an all-out legacy battle on Saturday, August 8th at 1:00pm!  Entry to the event is a sweet Andrew Jackson ($20).  Registration for the event starts at 12:00, so please come early.  If you've been with us for a party, you know we do it right!  We plan on having a grill out back with burgers and dogs going all day long.

A more detailed prize structure is in the works for prizes for 2nd, 3rd, etc.  However, a Mox Sapphire is promised as prize, in the following conditions.  Heavy Play Condition Mox Sapphire for a turnout of fewer than 24 Players and a SP/Mint Condition Mox Sapphire for any number higher.

Saturday is a great day for Legacy events, mostly because nobody ever does them!

We also do weekly Legacy events here in Ann Arbor at Get Your Game On on WEDNESDAY at 6pm.  We do a standard $5 entry, with all of it going back into a prize pool for store credit (which you can save and bank up down here).  We constantly get 20+ people, most of which are regulars, so it'd be nice to see some new faces.

I'll spread the word down here about the Saturday Tournaments.  Tons of our players are looking for a second day, but with our weekly schedule having a solid 7 days of events we don't have room for a second day..  Like I said, I'll let them know, they'll be stoked.
