Hi to everyone:
I´m playing a random deck but so funny. Its a Agro Control Deck near to suicude black.
I,m Playing a lot of 1 slot cards, but with multiple/complementary effects.

1 Black lotus
1 Mox jet
1 Mox emerald
4 Bayou
3 Bloodstained Mire
4 Polluted Delta
1 Strip Mine
3 Swamp
4 Wasteland

4 Dark Confidant
4 Tarmogoyf
4 Duress
3 Thoughtseize
3 himnto tourach
4 Null rod
4 Dark ritual
1 vampiric
1 demonic

1 Bitterblossom
1 Phyrexian negator
1 Tombstalker
1 Thornweald Archer
1 Yixlid Jailer
1 Diabolic edict
1 deglamer
1 Shadow of Doubt
1 extirpate
1 Sinkhole

SIDEBOARD
1 Oxidice
1 Deglamer
1 Seal of primordium
1 Crosan Grip
1 diabolic edict
1 Faerie macabre
1 Extirpate
1 Yixlid Jailer
1 planar void
1 Umezawa´s Jitte
1 Smother
1 Darkblast
1 Choke
1 Phirexian Negator
1 Thornwear archer

Look for these reasonement
Deglamer: Againt Stax, mana base, Vault-key, some Tinker Robots.
Shadow of Doubt: Against tutors, manabase(fetchlands), tinker, Tezz.
Extirpate:Against mana base(fetchlands and destroyed lands) against dredge, stax, yawmoths will, and cards like Fow, drains, oponent Goyf...
Sinkhole: Against stax, bazars and work well with null rod.

As you see one copy of these cards is not usually being a dead card in our diferent mach ups, but 4 deglamer, 4extirpate, 4diabolic edict... could make the second card in a dead card.

The sideboard Works to add second copies of these cards with multy effect. Then with 2 copies of two multieffect cards plus 2 tutors, we have a lot of responses in all our mach ups.

What are the cards you think  will be out of the deck. and what cards (or copies) you think I must add???

5  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Necro Painters on: August 17, 2009, 05:17:41 am
After some time out of magic I return to work in Necro Painters.  I made some changes  from the past month list. Hear is  the list I´m testing now, giving me a  good impresion. The sideboard is so random and need more test and ideas, but is and aproximation of what I want to play.

6  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Fish, What Fish? on: July 18, 2009, 05:49:55 am
Fish is a Blue based Deck that abuse the tempo and disruption to win the game. This deck has suffered a lot of adaptations year by year. First it was Mono blue with Merfolks, latter added it red (Gay Fish). Red was changed by white or Green (Worse Than Fish)... All these changes were thinking in the adaptation to the metagame of the moment. Nowadays there are a lot of configurations of Fish, because Fish is not a deck, is a tipe of deck. I want to discuss what Fish is better in the current metagame.

Most ussual Fishes are:

BUG Fish
Bant Fish
UW Fish
UR Fish

As you see, we can splash with any color, but... Which is the link jointly? What does give us each Splash?

Common Cards:

Most Fish plays:

4 Force of will
3 Daze
3 Stifle
3 Null rod
4 Wasteland
1 Strip mine
As disruptive cards.
1 Ancestral recall
1 Brainstorm
1 Time walk
4 Ninja (or Bob if Black Splash)
As power or draw cards
I think a mystical tutor and a Hurkyl´s Recall is needed maindeck nowadays.
A mana base arround 15/16 Sources (Plus wasteland and strip mine), with only mox in color.
Then, we´ve got 20 more slots. What will be they?

The blue creatures more played besides the ninja are the Sage of Epityr and the Cursecatcher. These two are not common cards of all fish decks, but anyone Fish can have access to they.

Other good blue cards that are playables in any Fish are: Spell snare, Misdirection and Spellstutter Sprite.
Them we got:
X Sage of Epityr
X Cursecatcher
X Spellstutter Sprite
Y Spell snare
Y Misdirection
When X Could be 0 to 4 and Y Could be 0 to 3

Chalice + Aether Vial was played a lot, but nowadays Null Rod is better For the following reasons:
Repeal and Gorilla shaman need more mana to destroy/bounce Null rod
Time vault is stopped by null rod, as well as Sword of F-I, metalworker...
Is better in the middle game and we win slots in our deck.

Adding Splashes:

There is not good blue artifact removal with a low mana cost as Kataki, gorilla shaman or disenchant.
With blue we only can bounce or counter menaces. We can destroy it.
The pool of good cc1/cc2 cretures in blue is small. Blue creatures are not as good as Tarmogoyf, Isamaru, Jotun Grunt or even Hidden Gibons.
Cards like meddling mage, Gorilla shaman, Kataki... works well with the theory of Agro Disruption.

WHITE:

White was added originally to fight against other aggro decks thanks to swords to plowshares and agresive cards like savanah lions. Meddling mage gives a good response to power decks, and cards like Kataki or seal of cleansing are a good response against Stax. Jotun Grunt is amazing against other based creatures decks and works well against graveyard based decks or cards like Yawmoths, loam, crucible tarmogoyf...
All that makes me think that white is the best splash for Fish.
Hear is the list I´m playing with some open slots.

UW FISH
2 Icatian javelineers
3 Jotun Grunt
2 Kataki, War's Wage
4 Meddling Mage
4 Ninja of the Deep Hours
4 Sage of Epityr
1 Stormscape Aprentice/StP/Icatian
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Brainstorm
3 Daze
4 Force of Will
1 Hurkyl's Recall
1 Swords to plowshares
3 Stifle
1 Mystical tutor
1 Time Walk
3 Null rod
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Sapphire
4 Flooded Strand
3 Polluted Delta
2 Island
1 Plains
4 Tundra
4 Wasteland
1 Strip Mine
SIDEBOARD
2 Disenchant
1 Hurkyl's Recall
1 Kataki, War's Wage
1 Serenity
2 Relic of Progenitus/Pithing needle
2 Tormod's Crypt
2 Spell Snare
2 Swords to Plowshares
2 Umezawa's Jitte

Sage of Epytir gives us a fast Ninja or the Hurkyl´s, Medling mage... we need.
Icatian are so good against confidants, welders... and could remove bridge from bellow
The power of Kataki and Medlling is obvious.
Is a solid option agaist all the Metagame but Inked leviantan is our worst enemy (worst enemy of all fish decks)

RED
Red don´t gives us any fatty creature. The removal is good against small creatures only, but it gives us good artifact removal and REBs, that are amazing against a lot of decks.
The best card that we gain playing red is Gorilla Shaman. Is easy to play gorilla in the first turn or Null rod in the second.
As we haven´t big creatures, we need more control/disruption cards. For these reason I play  Spellstutter Sprite.  This creature is better with another Faerie, so I play Zephyr Sprite, that is faerie and gives us ninja in the second turn.
Grim lavamancer and fire/ice are so ussefull to destroy confidants, welders, oponent´s ninja... If we need, we can destroy our creatures to remove bridges, but this is so circumstancial.
In the sideboard we´ve got access to Pyrostatic Pillar against combo, REBs against somethink with blue, and a lot of artifact destruction cards
Our problems are Inked leviatan and Tarmogoyfs (as well as jugernauts anf other fatties).

UR FISH
3 Null rod
3 Zephyr Sprite
3 Gorilla Shaman
2 Grim Lavamancer
4 Ninja of the Deep Hours
3 Sage of Epityr
4 Spellstutter Sprite
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Brainstorm
3 Daze
3 Stifle
2 Fire / Ice
4 Force of Will
1 Time Walk
1 Mystical tutor
1 Hurkils recall
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire
4 Flooded Strand
3 Island
3 Polluted Delta
1 Strip Mine
4 Volcanic Island
4 Wasteland
SIDEBOARD
2 Spell Snare
2 Ingot Chewer
1 Hurkyls Recall
1 Pyroblast
1 Red Elemental Blast
2 Relic of Progenitus/Pithing needle
2 Tormod's Crypt
2 Umezawas Jitte
2 Pyrostatic Pillar

If we need more preasure because a lot of decks with fatties are played in our meta we can add a second splash of green to tarmogoyf, sacrificing some disruption.

URg FISH
3 Cursecatcher
1 Grim lavamancer
3 Sage of Epityr
3 Gorilla Shaman
4 Ninja of the Deep Hours
3 Tarmogoyf
3 Daze
4 Force of Will
3 Stifle
1 Misdirection
1 Spell Snare
3 Null Rod
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Time Walk
1 Deglamer/1 Echoing Truth
2  Fire/Ice
1 Hurkils recall
1 Mystical tutor
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Ruby
3 Flooded Strand
1 Island
3 Polluted Delta
1 Strip Mine
2 Tropical Island
4 Volcanic Island
4 Wasteland

SIDEBOARD
1 Grim Lavancer
1 Ingot Chewer
2 Ancient Grudge
1 Pyroblast
1 Red Elemental Blast
2 Relic of Progenitus/Pithing needle
2 Tormod's Crypt
1 Hurkyls Recall
2 Pyrostatic Pillar
2 Umezawas Jitte

Adding green and White we´ve got access to Qasali Pridemage, that is amazing against a lot of decks of the current metagame.
If we add noble hierarch, we can play more cc3 like Trigon predator, Aven Mindcensor and Cold-Eyed Selkie. Selkie has a great sinergy with Qasali and hierarch, and could work better than Ninja.
But... Is this needed? and... Does it works really well?
I think that NO. Our mana base is less stable. If we haven´t the hierarch cc3 are not good, and Ninja works better than Selkie, attacking in the second turn rather than fourth.
Tarmogoyf could be better than Jotun, but remove our oponents graveyard is interesting in a lot of plays. We dont forget we are playing Agro-Control, we win slowly but surely.
In my oppinion, UW is better than UGW, so, I wouldnt play this deck. It dosnt add anything we need.

BANT FISH
3 Flooded Strand
2 Polluted Delta
3 Tropical Island
3 Tundra
1 Island
4 Wasteland
1 Strip Mine
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Pearl
3 Null Rod
4 Noble Hierarch
3 Cursecatcher
3 Meddling Mage
3 Qasali Pridemage
1 Trigon predator / Aven Mindcensor ??
3 Tarmogoyf
4 Cold-Eyed Selkie
4 Force Of Will
3 Stifle
3 Daze
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Hurkyl’s Recall
1 Time Walk
1 Mystical tutor
1 Brainstorm

SIDEBOARD
2 Tormods Crypt
2 Relic of Progenitus
2 Aven Mindcensor
2 Trygon Predator
3 Swords To Plowshares
3 Kataki´s war wage
1 Hurkyl´s Recall

Latter BUG  and conclusions.

Also Swords is way better than Path when you're running Null Rod, Wasteland, Strip Mine and Cursecatcher.

I think like you.

Another good option to play (I think) is URg.
Hear is a list I want to test when time.

MAINDECK
3 Cursecatcher
1 Grim lavamancer
3 Sage of Epityr
3 Gorilla Shaman
4 Ninja of the Deep Hours
3 Tarmogoyf
3 Daze
4 Force of Will
3 Stifle
1 Misdirection
1 Spell Snare
3 Null Rod
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Time Walk
1 Deglamer/1 Echoing Truth
2  Fire/Ice

1 Mystical tutor
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Ruby

3 Tormod's Crypt
9  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: GenCon Fish Feedback Needed on: July 17, 2009, 05:39:28 pm
No Proxy= Lot of wastelands, for this reason I prefer Two Color Fish.
I Think a main Hurkils Recall is needed.
I´m playing this list:

2 Icatian javelineers
3 Jotun Grunt
2 Kataki, War's Wage
4 Meddling Mage
4 Ninja of the Deep Hours
4 Sage of Epityr
1 Stormscape Aprentice (Or StP)
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Brainstorm
3 Daze
4 Force of Will
1 Hurkyl's Recall
1 Swords to plowshares
3 Stifle
1 Mystical tutor
1 Time Walk
3 Null rod
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Sapphire
4 Flooded Strand
3 Polluted Delta
2 Island
1 Plains
4 Tundra
4 Wasteland
1 Strip Mine

An other option so good to non proxy tournaments, that is an Agro Control Deck, but not a Fish is Black Green, with Goyfs, Confidants, Rituals, Duress, Hymto tourach and Null rods.
This is a list, but I would change some cards.
http://www.deckcheck.net/deck.php?id=22534
This Deck is better than Fish against Budget decks. And you can add good cards as Hidden Guerrillas and gibons, or add Root maze (optimicing the mana base arround it). It has a lot of possibilities.
10  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Red Deck Wins on: July 16, 2009, 06:41:47 am
4 Heart Kami
3 gorilla shaman
1 wheel of fortune
4 magus of the moon
3 lava dart
2 Fireblast
4 REB
4 Null rod
4 simian Spirit guide
4 Lightning bolt
4 Price of progress
3 grim lavamancer
6 Fetch
4 Ancient tomb
1 mox ruby
1 Black lotus
8 mountains

In the first turn, there are less options to play somethink, and less optios to dont be beated by Ichorid in the second turn. (No fanatic, less lavamancers and less options to creature+bolt)
In the second turn you usually play one card of cc2 or 3 rather than 2 cc1, being more vulnerable to force of will, mana drain or daze.If we play one menace by turn it could be countered turn by turn but  playing two or three menaces by turn we are less afected by counters

Pups and cadets made we can win against a resolved Inket, but magus and lava dart dosnt do.

When you play Wheel of fortune you are tapped, pass the turn could be the end. I Liked in a deck with a lot of CC1 bolts (as chain lighting) because you could play 2/3 and kill your opponent but this is not probable with your list.

Chalice of the void is awesome. Playing first turn you are so protected against turn 2 tinker. You can play chalice for 0 and REB/Creature in the first turn. Playing against Tendrils you can play it for 0 in the second/Third turn because they keep moxes in hand to make storm. If you have a Mox Monkey or kami, and a pair of lavamancer/Fanatic/pups/Kami/Cadet... you can play chalice of 1 against combo. With rods, chalices and monkeys you will be sure to have one in your opening hand. The only problem I see is the proliferation of repeal, but Rebs could protect it because it means tinker can´t be played.

I know Magus of the moon is so good, but tinker only need U to play that could be stracted for lotus, mox ore one basic isnland, because our oponent will be carefully and fetches to it. The key-vault combo is colorless (as well as painter combo) Stax could asume a Magus, and Ichorid plays turn one bazaar and active it, and we dont usually play magus in the first turn them Wasteland makes de same efect.

Your deck is not focused in tempo, is focused in a control near Stax, and that isn´t what I´m searching, but thanks for coments.

Ok, there is really no reason to not run Wheel of Fortune.  Its a good way to restock after you've burned your hand.

You have correctly Identified the need to run a slightly more robust Artifact Hate suit.  And I like Hearth Kami.  I also think that running a 3-4 mox monkies is a good idea.

-3 Chalice
-3 Goblin Cadet
+4 Hearth Kami
+1 Gorilla Shaman
+1 Wheel of Fortune

Magus of the Moon is one of the strongest cards that a Mono Red deck can run.  What many don't realize is that Magus of the Moon does not change the -SuperType- of a card.  So lands that are non-basic ~stay~ non-basics.  So Running Magus and Price of Progress in the same deck is fine.  In some cases its actually better because Magus prevents Wastelands and Fetches from being removed to dodge Price of Progress.  So if your opponent has 2 Fetches and a wasteland that are All turned into mountains - they still take 6 from price of progress.

-4 Jackle Pup
+4 Magus of the Moon

The problem now is that your mana base needs to be tweeked to accomidate both the higher CC of Magus AND the fact that your still want to use Price for Progress as your finisher.  So I would suggest the following:
-5 Strip/Wasteland
-2 Fetches
+4 Ancient Tomb
+3 Mountain (or Lotus)

Ancient Tomb is nice because it gives you the abilitiy to power down a turn 1 Null Rod OR with Simian Spirit Guide, a turn 1 Magus of the Moon.  Pairing back the fetches will make sure you don't end up getting lands stuck under Magus that make Price unplayable.

Now we can think about Lava Dart.  Lava Dart is another way to get those non-basic mountains out from under Magus.  Asside from that Lava Dart is going to become a great substitute card for Mog Fanatic under the new rules.  It can double up on Welder, Confidant, and other X/1 cards - while still retain its ability to ping players for final points and kill X/2's in a pinch.  Most likely 3 darts will be enough to handle whatever comes your way.

Finally, we can look back on the deck and see we've removed a good amount of 2/1 meat.  The deck could definately use another finisher card.  I'm a big fan of 'burn' style decks running either Shrapnel Blast or Firey Conclusion.  These cards can be very powerful and unexpected.  You don't really have the artifact count to make good on Shrapnel, but you do run some 'bulk' creatures.  Extra Lavamancers, extra gorrilla shamans, even a 2nd Magus now all become game-ending flings.
You can also run something a little more meta-gamey: Fireblast is a catch all that works well with the Magus/PoP combo but can sometimes compete with Lava Dart.  Mog Salvage is a GREAT card if you face alot of Tezz or other blue-Timevault decks.  Pulverize can be used as an answer to Inkwell.  Lastly Fork can be a decent card as well.  Fork be used as a counter-counterspell, as well as something to double-Price someone to death.  I don't think you really have enough good instants and sorcies to use fork though.

-1 Lavamancer
-4 Mog Fanatic
+3 Lava Dart
+2 Firey Conclusion / Fireblast / Mog Salvage / Pulverize

The changes you are proposing are not changes, is another deck. Yes, both are red, but hear ends the similarity.
The deck that you mention is similar to Stax. A low aggro with bombs, but the deck I post is near Fish. An Agro control with small but fast pets.
Shuster, figure of destiny could be part of the deck, but they need a lot of mana, and seems slow. But cards as magus of the moon and whell of fortune are moreover slow.
The game plan of this deck is chalice+REb (if needed) or Mountain+SSG+Null rod or Gorilla shaman, or 2/1+ 2/1 reb, to fight against Tinker and tezzenet. The cc1 2/1 give the speed that other creatures (as sage of epytir, cursecatcher, Spellstutter Sprite or magus of the moon) havent got. We must disrupt out opponent mana base, fighting lands and artifacts, and retarding/dificulting combo, but killing quickly, not giving oportunity to our opponent to search the card he needed.

An earlier pair of 2/1 plus one 1/1 or bolt could kill before inked leviantan attacks for three times.

Null rods, kamis and Smash to Smithereens are so good against vault. Mox Monkey can kill the voltaic key and Lightning bolt can end with tezzenet

Our creatures jump the Remora and usually meditate can´t be played.

Fighting against Stax we´ve got a lot of permanents, a good mana base with simians and basics, and good removal.

Against Fish, lavamancers are awesome, as well as bolts. Fanatic still being good. REbs are a very good counter and swords against ninjas snd others. Against BUG Fish, relics in the sideboard and PoP gives us a good chance.

Against tendrils we need an early chalice or Pyrostatic, but is a hard match up, idem that ichorid, but we have, fanatic, lavamancer to lavamancer or another creature, bolts to our creatures, kami+target... and a good sideboard.

A normal hand will be:
One Null Rod/chalice/Shaman/Wasteland---}Disruption
One fanatic/lavamancer/Shaman/kami---}Agro/Disruption
One fanatic/lavamancer/Pup/kami---}Agro
One Pyrostatic/REB/kami/Smash to Smithereens/Wasteland---}Disruption
Two Mountains/Mountain+Simian/Mountain Wasteland---}Mana
One Bolt/Other---}Depending.

As we can see is usual to have a hand with decent disruption and decent first turns Agro. A good equilibrium in these concepts is the reason of this deck.

I can remember the "TinkerExtended metagame" with Stax, Twidle Desire and other powerfull decks, but, surfing the metagame was RDWs, with cards like tangle wire, pillage, pups, firebolts... it was another time, another format, but the esence is the same: Fast creatures + Fast disruption=Good tempo.
I know Fish disruption is better, thanks to FoW, Daze and Stifle, but well focused, and we are faster, for this reason we need less powerfull disruption,
If I can kill one turn before I need one Fow less.
12  Eternal Formats / Creative / Red Deck Wins on: July 15, 2009, 06:34:20 am
Hi to everyone:

3 or 4 months ago, Freddy Hilty and James Lee made good results with a Red Deck wins deck.

This is the list:

creature [21]

3 Goblin Cadets

2 Gorilla Shaman

4 Grim Lavamancer

4 Jackal Pup

4 Mogg Fanatic

4 Simian Spirit Guide

instant [12]

4 Lightning Bolt

4 Price of Progress

2 Pyroblast

2 Red Elemental Blast

artifact [8]

3 Chalice of the Void

1 Mox Ruby

4 Null Rod

land [19]

4 Bloodstained Mire

6 Mountain

1 Strip Mine

4 Wasteland

4 Wooded Foothills

60 cards

Sideboard:

4 Smash to Smithereens

4 Volcanic Fallout

3 Pyrostatic Pillar

4 Tormod's Crypt

15 cards

Chalice for 1 is a very big problem. I think  Hearth Kami or Smash to Smithereens are needed in the maindeck. Price of progress is awesome, but new decks plays with more basic lands against strip effects and stifles. This makes it less effective.

I think as good changes:

Maindeck
-1 Null rod
-1 mogg fanatic
-4 price of progress
+2 Hearth Kami
+2 Smash to Smithereens
+2 Pyrostatic pillar

Sideboard:
1 Smash to Smithereens
1 pulverice
1 Pyrostatic pillar
2 tormods crypt
2 Relic of progenitus
2 umezawas jitte
2 Red elemental blast
3 Price of progress
1 ¿?¿?¿?

We haven´t got a response to inket leviantan but can fight against it with speed and REBs.
An interesting card is Bexing shuster, but... its very hungry of mana.

What do you think about the deck in the current meta?
I think it could fight well against UR and UW Fish, but the firt game against BUG is hardest.
Remora and tezzenet seems to be good pairings, and we have a good response against Stax.
In my meta almost blue iks growing. Thats the reason of pyrostatic pillar main deck.
Elves pairing isn´t seems so dificult.
Tendrils combo and Ichorid will be our worse math ups I think.

I´ve got a slot in my sideboard. What is the better card to include?
+1 Relic/tormods/Faerie macabre?
+1 Pyrostatic pillar?
+1 Mogg fanatic?
+1 Crash/Ingot chewer/Smash to Smithereens
+1 REB?
An other?

Thanks and greatings
13  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Necro Painters on: July 15, 2009, 05:50:22 am
-1 fetch land (manaflood)
-1 duress
-1 REB
+1 Yawgmoth's Bargain
+1 Empty the warrens
+1 Imperial seal

What do you think?

Thanks for all coments!
14  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Necro Painters on: July 05, 2009, 05:45:29 pm
Reap is so interesting, as well as Tarmogoyf, but three colors make dark ritual and ancient tombs less optimal.

I usually play the consultation to search one combo piece  when I have the other, or REB to destroy null rods, vaults... when pinter is in play, or to play the combo with protection against FOW/Drain. For this use Consultation works well. Search Necropotence, Yawmoths will... isn´t the best use of the card, I know the risk, XD. Be carefull.
Our hand could dissapear so fast playing ritual, vault crypt, duress... for this reason gamble isn´t a good option I think.

Thanks for the coments!

Stax usually play chalice for "0" in the first game, but if our oponent play for "1" the game is very very very hard, but... there are risks that it´s necessary to be ready to run. But...  In second and third game our sideboard will destroy chalice and friends easily. A lot of decks loss to dredge the first game, but these decks beat it in second and third game with solid antigraveyard sideboard. We are going to do the same against a turn one chalice of one. We play a hard sideboard to beat it. Our sideboard is focused in Stax and ichorid. 4 leylines and rack and ruins are indispensables.

Implacable, please, said me about your testing and your opinion of math ups, weaknesses that you have seen...

Seems a good card in the first turn, but horrible in the topdeck. It´s as playable as hidden gibons.

First of all sorry for my English, I promise to take classes.

Now i´m playing Necro Painters V1.1
This version is most oriented to the combo game play lossing some control cards like strip effects and mind twist in favor to more acceleration and tendrils plan.

The deck is truelly strong and stable with good math up against drain decks and fish. The dredge and stax math up are more dificult pre sideboard. If stax play a 1 or 2 chalice our win options are very limited. Dredge can combo more fast as necro painters, but this version have turn 1 and 2 kill, but is not ussual.

First of all here is the list, next explanations

NECRO PAINTERS 1.1

4 Dark ritual
4 red elemental blast
2 pyroblast
4 duress
3 thoughtseize
1 skeletal scryng
4 Dark confidant
4 painters
3 grinstone
1 Tendrils of agony
1 demonic tutor
1 vampiric tutor
1 demonic consultation
1 Yawgmoths will
1 necropotence
1 Weel of fortune
1 senseis divining top
1 mana vault
1 mana crypt
1 sol ring
1 black lotus
1 mox jet
1 mox ruby
1 Lotus petal
4 balands
7 fetchlands
2 Ancient tomb
3 swamps

Why I designed this deck?
I was looking for interesting funny and soft-powered decks to began playing vintage. Fish is a very popular deck and I was searching for a less exploited idea. I was searching for a black based deck, with dark rituals, necropotence, Yawmoths will, demonic tutor, wastelands null rods..., because I thought it could be the base of a neat unspowered deck.

I Found a Black-Green Oath by Matthew Edwards, that make top 8 at GB Vintage at National 2008.
The problem of this theck is that is a Combo that need 2-3 turns to kill, and is so vulnerable to echoing truth, swords... and... there is no option to return creatures you draw to your library. It could be scroll rack, but you lose the powerfull of null rod.

Then, i think that Painter grindstone were a more powerfull two cards combo that oath.
REB is a great cards in a blue dominated metagame, but with painters they win a lot.
8 possible Duress effects, himn to tourach, mind twist, 8 posible REBs(+Painter) and strip effects were a very very strong disrupting pool. Yawmoths will, necropotence, tutors, skeletal scryng, confidants... seemed a good pool to search a 2 pieces bombo (and the pieces werent restricted).

The combo was colorsess, so I could play cards as mana vault, sol ring and mana crypt, and optimice dark rituals. These pool of cards made so fast the combo and mind twist and skeletals were so big.

I decided to optimice the idea and the numbers of cards, and the result were so good. A fast combo deck with a lot of disruption. But there were a problem. The game were lightly definite with two possibles game plans. A hard disruption or  a fast combo. Then I remembered TRIX deck. The original Donate Illusions combo with necropotences, duress, mana vults... The disruption of the deck were focused to enter the combo, not to gain control, with this concept in mind, I designed this Necro Painters deck.

The game plan is duress your oponent, searching protect your combo (or not be combated) and use the REBs Idem, killing null rods when painters is in play or counterpelling the oponents counterspells, and be as fast as you can to put the two combo pieces in play. If we have painter, and a few duress/reb, we could play it without fear, because is easy to protect. Is not necesary to have grinstone as well to play both.

We play a lot of spells in few turns,(Ritual+Sol ring+ dures+ duress+painter)and our hand could be desapear easilly, so I incorpored wheel of fortune, but it was unproductive when i was playing mind twist and hmnto. In one funny game I look with senseis divining top, seeing Ywill on top, and play wheel, the efect to discard the rest of the hand made more productive wheel that timetwister (in this situation, of course).

If you have the two pieces of the combo or one and a tutor, is so easy to kill in turn 2-3, but is possible in one.(In a normal situation we will play carefully looking to be sure we can play the combo, with duress and rebs, but in a math up like ichorid, TPS or Stax, the fast of the deck is the best solution)

Been a based artifact combo deck is interesting to see the capacity we have to fight against null rod, thanks to reb+painter and the tendrils mode on option.

The sideboard will be designed to fight againt graveyard (dredge, recursive wastelands, gaeas blesings...) and artifacts. Ancient tomb is so good to play rack and ruin against stax and leilines in second or third turn. And another game plan (such us negators) could be interesting.

I hope you like the post.
Regards.

HI:

First of all, this is my first post in this forum and  I would like to take the oportuity to my presentation.

I´m retired for magic about to years. I was a constructed and limited player, playing no more than 2 vintage tournamnts in my live. But now, im tryng to play casual magic games and y choose eternal format.

I´m working in a deck I call Necro Painters, that include both, the clasic enginer of a necro decks with discard efects and the combo of painters and grindstone.
The fact is that the inclusion of red is awesome in my oppinion because we can take access to 1cc counterspells.
I´m gonna paste the list to explain the mechanics.

4 Dark ritual
4 red elemental blast
2 pyroblast
3 duress
3 thoughtseize
1 hymn to torach
1 mind twist
1 skeletal scryng
4 Dark confidant
4 painters
3 grinstone
1 demonic tutor
1 vampiric tutor
1 demonic consultation
1 Yawgmoths will
1 necropotence
1 senseis divining top
1 mana vault
1 mana crypt
1 sol ring
1 black lotus
1 mox jet
1 mox ruby
4 balands
7 fetchlands
2 wasteland
1 strip mine
4 swamps

I´m thinking in change the strip effects for ancient tomb, this mean less control but more acceleration OR enter 2 gorilla shaman, i dont know what cut, but 3 strip effect, 2 gorillas plues 6 reb with the painer could be a good mana denial.

Other cards I am testing are wheel of fortune and tendrils/ETW if I play with ancient tomb, cutting hymnto and mind twist, making the deck less controler but giving more options to combing and another win plan.

What do you think is better to promote, the control or combo qualities?

Thanks and gretings
