1  Eternal Formats / Creative / Pick and Choose - Breakable cards that haven't found a place on: January 25, 2005, 07:52:57 pm
Shared fate does the same thing as uba mask when it comes to drawing.

I think the new card from BoK could be broken very easily:
Tomorrow, Azami’s Familiar 5U
Legendary Creature — Spirit
1/5
If you would draw a card, look at the top three cards of your library instead. Put one of those cards into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your library in any order.

If you could drop it turn 2-3 and play glimpse with kobolds that would pretty much mean game. The only problem is it's steep mana cost.

How about this:

Card Name: Limited Resources
       Cost: W
       Type: Enchantment
 Rules Text: When Limited Resources comes into play, each player
             chooses five lands he or she controls and sacrifices
             the rest.

             Players can’t play lands if there are ten or more lands
             in play.
 Set/Rarity: Exodus rare

Is hard locking a game at 0 lands for your opponent worthwhile?

It's not quite a hard lock, with moxen, and other ways of getting lands into play. The problem is you have to get this down fast and get 10 lands down just as fast. Which is very hard without going 3+ colors which screws with consistancing and eventually everything just falls apart and you end up playing land-D with limited resources.

I think weathered wayfarer could be abused more. You can search for wastes, strip, acedemy, etc.

Tutors are bad really bad in shared fate. You do know that they get you remove their library if they're able to cast doomsday? Perhaps you should consider a different route.

Titan may not work very well with volcanics and islands. You might want to add ESG's as a quick mana source though.

Also (in case you weren't sure about Rogue Elephant, still), Rogue Elephant trades with Juggernaut, and is just big enough to survive combat with Su Chi after a Wax/Wane. This seems minor, but it really isn't.

Oxidize take both juggernaut and su-chi out just fine. With stompy, the only time i feel like i have total control is when i have more threats than they have cards in hand and threats in play. So you don't want to trade creature for creature. It's better to have a giant growth + rogue elephant taking out a juggernaut than trading a rogue elephant and playing another one.
R_X_:
The hidden creatures should be cut; 3x hidden gibbons is plenty. And how could you play white without StP?!!!! :shock:  Surprised  StP is possible the best creature removal ever. How would you deal with platinum angel?
6  Eternal Formats / Creative / Spiketail Vs. Daze on: August 24, 2004, 05:57:42 pm
Daze is in no means the best answer to ancestral. If you've ever faced fully powered 4cc you'll know what i mean. First turn drops usually include one or two moxen. When it comes to dealing with ancestral it usually comes down to misdirection being your best option. Daze also is also less useful in taking down exalteds. Spiketail has the power to chump block.

The Spiketail has to be in play for it to be effective; Daze just has to be in your deck. Notice I said deck and not hand, people play around the card just because they know you might have one in hand. I have played many games and never even seen one of my two Dazes and watched people play around them as if they knew I had them in hand. It is like playing with an extra card, almost feels like cheating at times. This to me is the main reason to play with Daze; the mind blowing psychological effect it seems to cause in some people. And the funny thing is those same people will get aggravated later on in another game and you will have a Daze in hand, which only seems to strengthen their belief that you always have one in hand. MindGames4Life:)

Are you sure this isn't because your dazes are also backed up my Fow and mana drain? Also what happens when they realize you don't have a daze in your hand?

Spiketail=creature
creature=damage
damage+curiosity=card advantage

I think that sums up everything
9  Eternal Formats / Creative / R/G beatz - has consistency but lacks inspiration on: August 12, 2004, 05:23:58 pm
Clamping an ape wouldn't be such a bad idea actually. You get a 3/2 beatstick that nets you two cards if it dies. However the loss of null rod for skullclamp is just to risky in my mind.

If you've never played against control/combo without hidden gibbons then you don't know what your missing. It's the aggro players' standstill. Add at least three and take out treetop villages as they cost way to much in the long run to use. 2 mana every turn for a 3/3 trampler isn't super. SB material at best.

Why not try magisrate's scepter/coretapper/lifeline for infinite turns
