1  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: [Report] Myriad Games Vintage November 12th, 2005 w/T8 Decks on: November 21, 2005, 11:46:19 am
Dan worked (YES I SAID WORKED, THIS IS HIS JOB) from 10:30am till 11:00pm,

He was there way longer than that, I called at 2 a.m. to leave a message on his answering machine because I had some issues with sleeves I bought being 2 different sizes and I just wanted to let him know, and he picked up the phone.  he was there at 2 a.m. setting up for the tourney so there was definately a lot of work involved on his part.  I understand that having to pay extra for the prize sucks, it's actually happened to me twice there, one time for a mox pearl (3 tourneys ago i think) and another for a library (I think that was the 2nd or 3rd tourney he held), but I also understand he has to make money off the tourney in order to hold more.  I can see why juggernautgo is a bit pissed, having to drive for a while to get there and then not get what he expected (I only live 5 minutes away so it's not nearly as bad for me).  I would just suggest that next time Dan makes sure there are no tournaments that will really conflict with his.  GP Philly was a pritty big hinderence as well as the Maine PTQ.  PTQ's usually arent big problems, but the GP was major.  Either way I'm hoping I'll be able to make the next one and continue my streak at myriad of lucksacking my way to the top with fish (aka drawing 4 standstills in the finals).

Jason Godek won 1st place and a [card]Mox Emerald[/card]

Dan, it was me, Jesse, who won not Jason.  Anyway, great event, I had a blast especially in the last match vs. Kowal.  That was definately the most fun game of magic ever.  "Masticore, wait... what does that do?  Oh yeah, he beats me up."

That is the fakest magic playing thug I have ever seen.

You say I'm a fake thug?!?!?  Yeah you're probably right, I think the Jackie Chan hat might have given it away, and the fact that I'm friggen white as day, and I played fish.  Thugs dont play fish, remember that.
3  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [Deck] Divining Top Combo on: March 06, 2005, 07:28:44 pm
The only change that I have made to the deck so far has been to remove the lone Merchant Scroll, adding in a Lotus Petal in it's place.  It has been amazing.  Petal allows drain mana up on turn 1, along with giving you another blue source so you can play future sight earlier/without a lotus.

I'm looking for other cards to cut down on to play more Intuition and a possible MD Brainstorm/Echoing Truth.  At the moment I'm leaning towards the thirsts, netting me two more slots for Intuition, but still leaving me without a MD win/answer.

Aside from cutting Thirst, the only other card I dont really think goes too well with the deck is Timetwister.  I'll admit that there are times that it has come in handy, but I think it's slot would probably be better off as either your MD Brainfreeze or the Echoing Truth.

As for cutting down on Helms, I dont reccomed it.  I've tested a lot of games on MWS since I've seen this list, and I cant remember how many times I've needed to grab that final piece, and Intuition did it, without enough of the combo to be able to reliably Intuition for, there will be games you lose that you otherwise could have won.  Having three top, sight, and helm are vital to this deck.

Cosmic larva is sooooo good, it's amazing t3ch.  But seriously, this deck was a good control deck, and as long as you have a good control deck, it doesnt matter how ridiculous your win condition is (although cosmic larva is completely un-ridiculous) it just matters that you are able to prevent your opponent from doing what they need to do.  It doesnt hurt to have a good player behind the deck either.
