1  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: you did that ....................really? on: July 28, 2009, 03:31:22 am
T2 Regionals...
My opponent has a Chinese-text Mark of Asylum (which prevents noncombat damage to creatures) and 3 Spectral Procession 1/1 tokens in play. I am at 5.
My hand: Wrath, Wrath, Cryptic Command, Volcanic Fallout.
I have 6 mana.
He says, "Wrath?"
I pass the turn, don't tap his team, and cast Volcanic Fallout.

Extended T4...
U/W/g Tron (Me) vs. Goblins
He's swinging with three Piledrivers for lethal next turn.
Him: "Swing?"
Me: "Echoing Truth."
Him: "You sure?"
Me: "Like hell I am! JUDGE!"
The judge gives me a warning and a personal note for silliness.

Vintage game before M10 Rules...
Him: {G}{W}{U} Fish w/Tinker vs. Remora Tezz (Me)
I'm at 3 or 4 life with only a Drain and Force of Will in hand.
Me: Mana Drain your hard-cast Colossus.
Him: Okay.
Me: Put my own Colossus second with Top, fearing a Predict.
Him: Predict naming FoW.
Me: To myself, "Man, what a scrub!" FoW.
Him: Oxidize Top.
Me: Put Top on my library in response.
Him: K.
Me: Die to mana burn.

I'm not the only guilty one, however.

Legacy tourney...
Thriller ({G}{W}{B} Zombies) vs.  {W}{U} Death and Taxes (Me)
He's on the play and mulls to 5.
Him turn 1: Swamp, Dark Rit, Dark Rit, Dark Rit, Sinkhole, long pause, concede.

Vintage Top 8...
Oath (him) vs. Ichorid (me) in Game 3...
T1a: Crop into Bazaar. I have only drawn one creature and it's an Ichorid, so I discard 3 Therapies.
T1b: He drops Oath, giving me a token with Orchard.
T2a: I load my graveyard and Therapy his hate away.
T2b: He plays another Orchard and passes.
T3a: I use his token to Therapy a Hypnotist into my graveyard.
T3b: He plays a third Orchard, Propaganda, pass.
T4a: I dredge, Dread Return on Hypnotist and blow his 4-card hand out. He discards Force, Force, Drain, and a Time Walk.
T4a Part II: He says the F word.

Vintage tourney...
Me: Crucible in play and Strip Mine in the bin.
Him: Tormod's Crypt in play.
Me: Play Strip Mine.
Him: "Hell, no! Tormod's Crypt powers, activate!"
Me: "Form of: Suck!"
2  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Best win condition for Manaless Ichorid? on: July 28, 2009, 01:36:41 am
To report my personal experience, I've tried the following options:

-2 Flame-Kin Zealot (hereafter FKZ)
-1 FKZ, 2 Sadistic Hypnotist
-2 FKZ, 1 Sadistic Hypnotist
-2 FKZ, 2 Sadistic Hypnotist
-1 Sutured Ghoul, 1 Dragon Breath
-3 FKZ
-2 Realm Razer, 1 FKZ
-1 Realm Razer, 2 FKZ
-1 Inkwell Leviathan, 1 FKZ, 1 Sadistic Hypnotist

What I've found is that:
1. 1 FKZ is too few, as it just doesn't come up enough, and 3 FKZ is too many. I saw this on a thread, tried it, and it is just a complete overload. If you have the resources to do the second DR for FKZ number two, you are likely better off using a Hypnotist to wreck your opponent's hand or something similar. 2 is my maximum, and I prefer 1.
2. Sutured Ghoul folds to Fish. In the very early builds (like, Reanimate old), this guy was cool, but he is pretty bad in the face of spot removal.
3. Realm Razer is very bad. If your opponent has {U} or {B} artifact mana, this guy just elicits a shrug and takes away your Bazaar.
4. Inkwell is pretty interesting, but just like Hypnotist, he doesn't read, "Win the game" quite like FKZ.
5. The 2/1 split may be a card too few, but I don't see where the extra Hypnotist is really going to be better than an Angel of Despair most games.
6. 2 FKZ, 2 Hypno seems like the optimal mix for Manaless builds, though I haven't tested them as thoroughly as my preference is Mana Ichorid. Still, the 2/2 split requires only cutting a Golgari Thug (if that), which is probably worth it.
