Eternal Formats / Creative / poseur gifts

i decided to try to see if both gifts and slaver could combine into one deck, voltron style.
1 Black Lotus 1 Mox Sapphile 1 Mox Jet 1 Mox Ruby 1 Mox Emerald 1 Mox Pearl 1 Sol Ring 1 Mana Crypt
1 Library of Alexandria 1 Tolarian Academy 4 Polluted Delta 1 Flooded Strand 3 Island 2 Underground Sea 3 Volcanic Island 1 Stripmine 1 Seat of the synod
4 Force of Will 4 Mana Drain 1 Ancestral Recall 4 Brainstorm 3 Thirst for Knowledge 2 Gifts Ungiven 1 Fact or Fiction
1 Demonic Tutor 1 Mystical Tutor 1 Merchant Scroll 1 Burning Wish
1 Echoing Truth 1 Yawgmoth's Will 1 Recoup 1 Time Walk 1 Tinker 1 Mindslaver 1 Crucible of worlds 3 Goblin Welder 1 Darksteel Colossus 1 Platinum Angel
it combines both decks, uses dsc for a kill and has multiple ways to manipulate multiple turns. no tournament data, since theres not t1 where i live. give me some suggestions and lets work on this. maybe it will become a decent deck.

Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Firewalker vs. Old Man in the Control Slaver board?
|
on: September 10, 2004, 03:17:47 am

i will have to test the firewalker, currently i have been using duplicant in my board against FCG but i have found that a resolved welder plus any of the big men mean trouble for FCG i am going to try firewalker and triskellion sideboard.
what are the best ways to get around energy flux, null rod. I use mogg salvages and viashino heretics for the rod and crucible but i dont have a full answer for energy flux besides red blast.

Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / has anyone tried

has anyone tried barbarian ring? with crucible i think this maybe a techy card, yeah i know its vunerable to strips and produces red but its uncounterable and active on the turn you want to use it. the only problem i find is that fish doesnt seem to have a lot of cards dumping in to bin to get threshold.

Eternal Formats / Creative / [single card discussion] Stifle - what makes it good?
|
on: July 09, 2004, 03:18:03 am

against a slaver it is pretty nice, memory jar, wasteland, stripmine, pernicious deed.
you cant use it against standstill due to standstill triggering multiple times for every spell cast. also nev disk doesnt have a sacrifice to its activation so a stiffle stops it for a turn. but what stiffle does do is it is causes you to have a way to stop your opponent from doing some game breaking things, stoping a WGDragon, or stopping a welder for a turn thats pretty good.

Eternal Formats / Creative / Decree Keeper, what's it up to?
|
on: June 11, 2004, 03:47:27 pm
|
the reason i took out the 3rd angel was to add another card to possibly pitch, a card with the same evasion as angel, untargetability, blah. But i found that finding 2 white sources was in some situations harder, so it was easier to add a morphling, instead of having a morphed creature for 2-3 turns before it flips.
I think decree is overall great, but there are some times that I get stuck with too many mana intensive spells, do i go beatdown cast decree, mindtwist, cunning wish, or skeletal scrye? but uncounterable win conditions do rock.

i moved the fire/ice sideboard, to fit 1 morphling, 2 angels and 2 decrees, we have a good portion of aggro/control and aggro. This is for testing purposes only but I think this config should be good, if anyone objects. please list why.

Eternal Formats / Creative / Germbus match issues
|
on: June 07, 2004, 04:38:26 pm

thanks for all the input, the reasoning I went to 1 gorilla shaman was that I had put in a main deck damping matrix, but I dont think that is fully needed.
I get some more results in to see how well this works. with an updated list. there is alot of random decks in my meta, saturday was our first proxy tournament, and our first fully powered turnout. Unfortunately it was a double elim tournament that took well over 9 hours.

Eternal Formats / Creative / Germbus match issues
|
on: June 07, 2004, 02:19:07 pm
|
Hello,
I am currently and have been playing Germbus, very similar to the standard build with 3 angels, 1 mox monkey, and 1 decree.
Now the only questions i have are is anyone having slight trouble beating, madness and or hulk? also supergro seems to have a edge in this matchup, what are some ideas i can get to help these matchups?
Also does anyone else find a problem with specific matchups? I find that control slaver is a easier matchup than workshop slaver.
4x Force of Will 4x Mana Drain 4x Brainstorm 2x Cunning Wish 1x Ancestral Recall 1x Time Walk 1x Fact or Fiction 1x Mystical Tutor
2x Skeletal Scrying 1x Yawgmoth's Will 1x Mind Twist 1x Demonic Tutor
3x Exalted Angel 3x Swords to Plowshares 1x Balance 1x Decree of Justice
1x Gorilla Shaman
1x Black Lotus 1x Sol Ring 1x Mox Sapphire 1x Mox Jet 1x Mox Pearl 1x Mox Ruby
1x Island 1x Library of Alexandria 1x Strip Mine 4x Wasteland 4x Flooded Strand 4x Tundra 3x Underground Sea 2x Volcanic Island 1x City of Brass
SB: 3x Red Elemental Blast 1x Disenchant 1x Rack and Ruin 1x Blue Elemental Blast 1x Firestorm 1x Gush (not sure this is needed but it helps double white) 1x Rule of Law 2x Flame Tongue Kavu 1x Skeletal Scrying 1x Coffin Purge 1x Vampiric Tutor 1x Swords to Plowshares
Some sideboard cards: I am thinking of possibly using, grim reminder, moat + 4th angel, Aura Fracture, or 2nd Mox Monkey.
We see lots of workshop decks, stax, slavers, tnt, affinity. some control like supergro, and some aggro, madness, R/G beats, also 2 combo decks, 1 dragon, 1 belcher.
Thank you, LP
