an artist in family that does amazing pictures

I would love to view the finished product. Would you mind sharing upon completion?

I will probably try to do it in 2 weeks minimally, cause I'm still tied up to colledge...she finished academy and had allready 3 solo galleries in the first year she had finished the colledge. So I think if the "project" comes to realization, it would be pretty nice as a substitue to real power...

You should also have a look at the work of Nerea Iturgaiz and Ron Spencer to have a look at uber pimp art on cards........ you might be able to deduce techniques from it.

I'm not on my computer atm, but can I find those guys by googleing it, or can you provide me with a link ?

Tnx

You should totally peep the uber proxy thread on Star City's Vintage forums. It's like a million pages long and can answer all of your proxy needs.

This is the most usefull link I ever received ! kudos on that...
5  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / How to pimp proxy magic cards ? on: July 04, 2007, 04:39:46 am
This is kinda a short and understandable question...thing is I have an artist in family that does amazing pictures, and I would like to know if possible how she can picture cards that they look cooler then original, so I don't feel bad with my bad photocopy of moxen...

So, what style of painting stick to cards, how to erase some cards parts so she can paint on it etc.

For example I would like to have Time Walk proxied, how to do it ?

Tnx
6  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Single Card Discussion] Pact of Negation on: April 21, 2007, 01:06:11 pm
You can "hardcast" this too...we are not talking about control matchups...we are talking about pitchlong like decks...turn 1-3 kills with pact in backup, i think that beats misdirection...
7  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Single Card Discussion] Pact of Negation on: April 21, 2007, 03:34:31 am
I would like to point out that Pact is very, very, narrow; even in a quick combo deck.  It is true that you can protect a game winning bomb (Yawgmoth's Will, Yawgmoth's Bargain) on the turn you are going to win.  And, in this situation Pact is extremely powerful.  However, what you sacrifice is flexibility.  Pact does not allow you a tool to interact with other decks in the way that Duress or FOW do.  You cannot use it to take away a Trinisphere, or counter a Meddling Mage the way that Duress or FOW allow you to in problematic match ups.  That being said:  Pact is still awesome, and an absolute house against Drain decks.  The problem is:  Who plays Drain decks anymore?
But pact in its narrowness can be compared with misdirection...misdirection is here only to protect your bombs and steal random ancestral...and pact > misd -.-
Pact will be played, and combo will make up some troubles in metagame...

And why would u counter with force(& blue card) some meddling mage when u can pact with that blue bounce in your hand and win...
8  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Single Card Discussion] Pact of Negation on: April 19, 2007, 05:47:16 am
I would not want to see fast combo with this card...sadly, it will happen...

Quote
While you are intuitioning and setting up some AK's, you can simply cast Gifts and win from there...faster, cleaner, less luck factor combo...
Personally I disagree with this statement because the Intuition/AK control decks had a very strong showing at Waterbury.  I do agree with your assessment that Gifts can win faster I think that T1T would rather assume the control role on the back of Duress/Force/Drain.  The only decks that I know of that run Intuition and AK are actually more control-centric than combo.

The article was very good, probably one of your best in a while which is saying something.  I am constantly modifying my combo deck and I've tried many iterations with varying degrees of success.  The fragmentation you addressed is something that I knew in the back of my mind but I enjoyed the way that you addressed it.  I think one of the most important things for combo players is choosing a deck that fits your play style.  I tried Cross-Long for a while but the decreased number of threats and slightly slower combo didn't fit my way of playing combo.  Probably my favorite part of the article was the table at the end of the article; I think there is a ton of information in that small portion.
Personally, I asked the same question when MDG arrived and got the same answer...now I'm 100 % sure it is the right one...Faster factor is one of the thing that add in the favor of gifts for sure...now intuition AK where I found it's mistakes were right there in the luck % part. I would much rather been playing against combo and have a merchant scroll in my hand then ak for 3(that even need more setup)...maybe situational, but surely you know that with the card you are going to find, you'll be able to stop the combo breathing off slowly as they cannot catch you in the mid late game (not completely true afc)...They have less dead slots, and that duress drain force against force misd drain scrolls plus duress sb are all looking same to me, nothing spectacular to brag on to.

p.s. sometimes you really need to just draw and draw to get your kill online, which is kinda dull, but much more easier than thinking which gifts pile will surely win...well I'll put my money on gifts anyhow
10  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Premium Article] Offshoots and Ladders on: February 12, 2007, 05:41:11 am
That was one of the best articles I've read in a long time. The line between combo and control is drawing so thin now its crazy. I noticed that you didn't address Drain TPS, what are your thoughts on that deck? Do you think the intuition AK engine is just not right in these hybrids?
While you are intuitioning and setting up some AK's, you can simply cast Gifts and win from there...faster, cleaner, less luck factor combo...

Great report as always and I hope you continue going top 8 in the future for more reports...how about changing the deck now, your reports might even get  better  Wink

Tnx for the report
13  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: The tendrils of Agony kill in MDG on: September 15, 2006, 03:57:36 pm
Not that casting yawgs will even once is needed for the win, but come on, would you play two yawg wills in your deck if you could??

Burning Wish is only Yawgwill #2 when you've resolved a yawgwill already.  Which means both finding it and winning the counter war.  Not that I've never made this play, but it has also been sort of academic to pull out the second will, I could probably have tutored up a fistful of counters and a tinker instead with no more trouble.  If burning wish read 1R: search your deck for Yawgmoths Will I would run 4.
Actually burning wish DID that...so that's why you can play only 1, and it does it's purpose as a singleton
14  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: New suspend Ancestral Recall on: September 15, 2006, 07:25:10 am
Suspend 4 is just too much. Cant you just Stifle it?

i dont think many of these suspend cards are playable in type one.
Yeah, maybe not in T1, but damn it sure makes me wanna play T2 or just this new block...it sounds like loads of fun, and maybe people will realise how fun T1 is
15  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Veni Vidi Vinci -- Vintage World Champs 1st Place Report on: August 22, 2006, 06:40:46 pm
back on topic, with Trav winning it all with Gifts, will we see a change in the metagame?
Something tells me that meandeck gifts won't have a big part in it neither like before...

I'd be much more afraid of a metagame packed with MDG than CS. The problem is though, that if MDG gets big, tempo decks will come back in full force. Seems to me that Chalice of the Void should be coming back strong since it hoses both MDG and Long quite well.

the problem is that MDG is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to hard to play for the average pilot, imo.

The level of complexity and possible gifts piles rivals that of Doomsday.

think about the number of decisions: the deck is ALL tutors: 4 Scroll 4 Gifts.

The opportunities to fuck up are numerous and varied.  Plus, I'm willing to bet that 99% of the MDG pilots can't competently fight Slaver.
It's not just that...many of the vintage people just won't be fu**ing their brains out to think of a plan to get by that chalice/crypt/whatever...it's really easier to pick up some deck that rather flows or go busted with turn 1/2 wins like combo does. Goldfishing is preferable to : Oh damn, what am I going to search now when planning 3 turns ahead...

Meandeck Gifts are not like Oath (don't use it as an insult, kinda), if it is Tier 1 it will never go off the charts in the numbers it gets played...
16  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Veni Vidi Vinci -- Vintage World Champs 1st Place Report on: August 22, 2006, 02:04:47 pm
Yeah, the MCAT was a bitch to prep for, but I'm finally done!

Also, I quit mary jane cause it got in the way of too many activities like hiking/tennis (I have no idea how Lou does it).

So, if I'm the Harold, who's my Kumar? Ashok?

back on topic, with Trav winning it all with Gifts, will we see a change in the metagame?
Something tells me that meandeck gifts won't have a big part in it neither like before...
17  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Veni Vidi Vinci -- Vintage World Champs 1st Place Report on: August 21, 2006, 07:51:56 pm
Congrats with the win, finally I may expect some results with meandeck gifts !

Luckily, no one was hurt, and I manage to secure the artwork at our hotel before heading to White Castle for a celebration meal with Scott, Lou, Zach, Zac "no h" from California, and Rafe from team ICBM.
Was it the White Castle from that movie, smoked up Indy guy coupled up with a chinese one ... cant remember the exact title   Surprised

Hell Yeah!

Harold and Kumar go to White Castle

(thats 2 u's 3 q's...)
Hell Yeah ! That's what I was looking for in my head   Very Happy  (sorry but whats about 2 u's and 3 q's ?) ... nvm

Once again congrats and some questions to add :
1) Do you see meandeck gifts shine in todays metagame, and what decks do you fear the most
2) Do you often go to time (does it take a long time to pilot gifts to a win - and I don't count deffended tinker starts)
3) How do you beat modern fishes with lots of stifles, ninjas and other horrible little creatures...
4) I'll add something soon I must finish some stuff atm.

Tnx

Sorry to be on a wrong thing here, but just to ask some questions...firstly, the bigest problem with Intuition/Ak engine was the 7-8 dedicated slots for a card drawing...and welder is supposed to be the weakest card in Slaver (some say that)...

So isn't it logical to bounce out some spells to turn slaver into intuition draw controll deck with a faster kill ? Heck, you can leave 1 mindslaver for random tinker, in most cases you will tinker for it...

p.s. sorry, but I don't see much logic in "dead cards" that slaver has...
20  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Ongoing Waterbury Results on: July 30, 2006, 03:48:29 pm
Sorry to ask, but can anyone give out a general info about top 16 decks...what, lets say, Kowal played/is playing...are there any gifts and so...
21  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Ongoing Waterbury Results on: July 30, 2006, 07:12:20 am
9 StripLoam Kudzu?!? Awesome! Nice to see rogue decks break a meta open with their techy tech.
Nice to see a deck that eats fish...and stax...maybe after all, creatures are the best way to stop other creatures

Gz on your winning with a new deck !
22  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: "go big or go home" Burning Slaver; Decklist on: July 29, 2006, 05:49:43 am
Sorry about not reading the middle of the posting, but to the doubt of recoup...recently i picked a UB deck with drains, rituals and 4 gifts. So that means no red-no recoup. If you think it's a problem, it's not, cause if I put Will in my gifts pile, with 2 cards from that pile I'm gonna win the game non the less (and if they give me will, you know the result). Maybe it's cause of more threat density of that deck (ritual, necro,bargain...). Maybe this recoup conclusion cannot be put in this way of looking, but early on recoup is a dead card, and later on there are better cards. In conclusion, recoup is good, but in right piles it's very questional...

sorry if i missed something important

24  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Going through Eastern Europe by train, need hints on: July 21, 2006, 08:46:42 pm
About Croatia I know nothing. We thought about a bus route up by coast of Croatia, do you have any info on that? Which are the best places to sleep there? We are interested on all kinds of national parks, so they're, so thaks for the advice.
Humph...
If you are travelling from south (Dubrovnik) to north (Istria) everything can be seen on main bus stations (or how it's called)...maybe going Dubrovnik-Split-Zadar-Istria is the right route. Near Zadar (patriotic person I am Wink ) are located most of the national parks. If you like Island people or something like that visit Hvar, Mljet (one of national parks) by boat from Split/Dubrovnik. Or if you just want to see the beauty, not the culture, visit Kornati (starting point Zadar) and Brijuni (starts on east coast of Istria, half an hour with a boat).

I found this, maybe it helps you (I haven't checked it, if you find something in it good) : http://www.croatia.hr/English/O_Hrvatskoj/O_Hrvatskoj.aspx

p.s. Eat Croatian food...sound stupid afcourse, but mediterenian kitchen is something divine...
25  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Going through Eastern Europe by train, need hints on: July 14, 2006, 09:58:25 am
Just to replay quickly on Croatian topic, you should take a couple of days for this beauty Wink
Take some time to visit Zadar (my town), Dubrovnik (the most famous), and all the national parks you can get ( Kornati islands are maybe the most interesting through summer). Bus is maybe easier to deal with (i don't do trains, sorry)...and go through Istra also...it's kinda relaxing, not so popullated, and it's on your way to Italy (slovenia, bah-you don't need to see that Wink )...going from Dubrovnik up the coast is maybe the right way...or other way around, but then you must take a boat to italy.
26  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Soccer World Cup -06 on: July 03, 2006, 08:22:11 am
Now that France dropped Brazil,i think the final will be Germany-France,0-0 after 120min,3-4 after kicks and France takes the cup... Rolling Eyes
That just cannot possibly happen.
if you want to beat ze Germans, you have to do that in 120 minutes. With penalties ze Germans just can´t lose.
If I was the french, which fortunately I am not, and they have to play the final, I suggest they beat ze Germans in 90 minutes.
History shows that also in the extra time with 2 goals down, they can´t be beaten.
Germany will have reall hard time to win over reborn "Toni Italy"...the best attacker this season in europe is scoring again...I would put my money on Italy for shure...

And germany has lehman for taking care of penals...so no fear in that vs france if it happens...Coupe would be much better goalkeeper for france, but they are doing so well for now  Surprised
27  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Soccer World Cup -06 on: May 29, 2006, 09:43:27 am
Here is my analisys.

The Brazilians will not win because in history only once a team that was of another continent won, so a European team will win.

The Germans will not win because their team is sheer crap, the Germanss themselves don't even believe they will win. They will however survive the groupstage as they have the worst group ever.

The Italians are favorites. They will not win it because their team historically do not play attacking, and they only need to have 1 goalless draw to go out with penalties.

The French will not win because they are a team of hasbeens. The only player that really stands out anymore is Henry, and a striker can make goals only if his team provides him with chances and that will not happen.

The Czecks are a very good team but lack experience. As are the Croats.

The Argentinian players are good but they will be missing some keyplayers due to injuries as far as i know. If they survive the groupstage they will get far though.

The English have a very dangerous team but i think the loss of Rooney will proove to great for them to handle.

That leaves the Dutch. If they survive the groupstage (which i really think) they will take it all the way.

GO HOLLAND GO, DON'T LEAVE THE LION IN ITS UNDERWEAR, GO HOLLAND GO

AANVALLUH (ATTACK)

That's a really nice analysis...and you mentioned Croats Wink gosu
Yeah, it would be really nice to see dutch as number one...they make the best decks 2, so why not let them win in this ^^

Btw, drain+ritual FTW
28  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Soccer World Cup -06 on: May 29, 2006, 06:07:58 am
come on! They at least deserve to be part of the pull...
No, they don't deserve it Wink

@freakish777 : kahn ? I don't think he is a half good golman as lehman is now...
29  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Soccer World Cup -06 on: May 28, 2006, 09:46:56 am
Croatia is missing from the poll too, however you'll change your mind after the first game when we humiliate Brazil.

True, The Netherlands are one of the favorites, if they manage to overcome their group which is savage. That's the strongest group and there's a possibility that one of the favorites (Arg, Holland) won't go through. Also, there will be one surprise team in quarter/semifinals (think something like Croatia in '98, S. Korea in 2002, or Greece in European cup), and there's always at least one African team that will shine.
Germany is rather weak, but considering what Shock Wave said (playing at home & money) and that they are always better as tournament progresses, they could go far. However, I don't see them on top.

There are 3 ways to look at it :
Croatia will win (patriotic feeling inside)
Ivory Coast (I don't know if it is correctly spelled on english...but they are n0.1 African country and very strong indeed...arsenal's deffense + chelsea's att aint bad)
Netherlands (from all the favourites this one takes my place FTW)

Maybe England shines again...this world cup would be very hard to predict...i voted england cause i missed the netherland thingie
