First of all nice report! It's allways nice to see reports of event's that i visit. I do think to exaggerate about my playskills, that is why I usually judge  . I was drawing quite well during the entire day. I also can't really remember much of our game in the swiss.I think i t was a quick one with me having a lot of removal for your cards.

The finals were a bit weird and I wasn't playing really well (specially in the first game), even though I managed to stay alive quite long a made quite a few mistakes in the first game I think there might have been a way to win. I had set my mind to not losing, which was wrong because I was more-or-less in control for some turns and at a certain point I welded away.my Mox Ruby instead of the sol ring.

In the final game I made a plan in turn 2 that would win me the game unless you had a sphere and another robot, which you obviously had. I could have played it differently in some ways, but neither was a guaranteed win. And getting time walk would have helped because I could have cast it in my third turn, but I used the vamperic the turn before so I had to play the key and vault.

I made second place at the dutch vintage event in Breda yesterday playing a list similar to the one Jeff Anand piloted. In the maindeck I swapped an city of brass for a basic island. I did not want to open with double city hands; the damage might become to much. This was my sideboard:
3x nihil spellbomb (mostly because I didn't have my leylines available)

The sphere should not have been there but I felt that I needed an effective anti-combo card. The maindeck performed really well and I used the blasts, claims, duresses and doomblades in the sideboard quite a few times.

One problem I ran into a few times are multiple spheres; when I get/keep them off the table it's okay, but paying 2/3 mana extra for everything equals to losing games. The answer I am thinking of is running a pair of Engineered explosives. They can be cast underneath spheres for just a few mana. Any thoughts?

Last Sunday the Gameforce dutch vintage champs was organized again. This time the Gameforce itself was the battlefield. 39 player showed up to play six rounds of swiss. The results would determine the top 8. The last round was quite exiting because one person with a 4-2 record would be in. It seemed that winner of the match Tom Hens vs. Peter Reynders would be that lucky person but their match ended in a draw; Benjamin van den Broeck thus got in on the 8th place.

Anyway the event was a succes in my opinion. Good turnout, great prizes and some fun decks in the top 8. I'll post some more info later this week, should I post it here or make a topic in the reports section?

The legacy event was a huge succes! over 200 players showed up playing an a huge amounth of different decks. From survival to tribal to storm combo to enchantress to whatever. In the end our 2009 legacy champ was able to take the event again. An amazing performance. I want to thank everybody who made the trip to eindhoven and hope to see you again next year!


This sunday the vintage champs wil he held. It wil be a bit smaller, but I still expect a nice prize payout! Currently 36 people preregistered. That means plenty of space, fresh air and of course: fun!

A final update before the event.

due to an enormous amounth of pre-registations the event is somewhat full at this moment. We do have a backlist for people who pre-registered but did not make the first 217 spots. If people cancel, the guys on that list will be the first in. Usually some people who pre-registered don;t show up so it is possible to play even if you're on the list. The higer you are, the better you're chances are.

My name is Roel Jans. I am a dutch lvl2 judge and Advanced T.O. I've judge quiete some vintage events for both Marske and crew and in Mol. I've also organised a few and I am currently the TO of the Dutch Legacy and Vintage Championships. But next to that I organize everything from FNM to PTQ's. I've started playing somewhere around urza's saga and started to play tournaments during oddessy-onslaught. I tested for level 1 in 2007 and for lvl 2 in 2009 (so I guess that level 3 will be next year )

Sometimes I get to play as well, my favorite format is legacy followed by boosterdraft, mostly because I don't have the time to explore every nook and cranny of vintage (so I ususally just copy-paste a decklist that seems fun). I mostly registered so I can actually post some vintage announcements when needed.

 

Actually you cannot. Only a select group of players, designers, judges, TO, employees and some other associates get a vote. But we (that's the dutch magic community) are trying to get Bram to be noticed by the group who can vote. Because we feel that a guy who has done so much for the community should get something back. He should be in the Hall of Fame.

What you can do is spread the word: "Bram for Hof!"

Because the pro tour lands in Amsterdam in september I was allowed to organise an extra PTQ. I chose for Breda because the venue is really nice. Bram is a pillar for the Legacy community in the Netherlands, by organizing almost half of all legacy tournaments here. So even if you don't know him, or don't care about the Pro Tour, give Bram some love for his work for Legacy.
