1  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Winter Orb on: October 29, 2004, 04:57:32 pm
Heya!

First post in a long time! Only been reading stuff

Well.
I was wondering if the old trick with Winter Orb still worked.
End of opponents turn, tap winter orb with Icy Manipulator or a similar card.

Does this result in me getting to untap all of my lands?

Does this rule go for all continious artifacts?

Thanks!
2  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Storm on: August 01, 2004, 06:31:49 am
Hello!

If i play Mind Desire after played 4 spells a turn, 5 Mind's Desire will resolve. If I then play a Tendril's of Agony will the storm copies of Mind's Desire count?

If so 10 Tendrils of Agony will resolve?

This confuses me  Confused
3  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / A couple of questions regarding Illusonary Mask on: July 31, 2004, 12:03:24 pm
My friend got a Illusionary Mask in play and I got a Standstill.

Q1: He puts a Phyrexian Dreadnought in play. Does this trigger Standstill?
Q2: He flips Phyrexian Dreadnought. Can I counter with Stifle? And must I target the Phyrexian Dreadnought or Illusionary Mask?
Q3: Can he flip or play the Phyrexian Dreadnought with Null Rod in play?

Hello!

My name: Tor-Christian H Eriksen

Living: Near Oslo, Norway

Occupation: IT technican (starting school again this autumn)
Intrest: I'm also addicted to Magic: The Gathering *sit down and take a deep breath*

Been playing Magic since Fifth Edition, and took a pause when Prophecy came out ( my biggest error EVER ).
Started up again in January this year.

Current deck: High Tide
Coming soon: Landstill and Fish or WTF
Coming late: P9  Wink
My favorite card: Null Rod  Cool
My favorite set: Urza's Saga
My favorite color: Blue
Favorite deck: Long
Hates: Underage jackasses at the movie theatre ( note: fathers that bring their jackasses to the movie )

I'm trying to catch up with T1 again, and my goal is to build my own Long deck ( fully legal  Razz right.... ) *ironi*

If only Wizards would unrestrict some cards... *sigh*

Wizards restrict Null Rod = I know where you live [  {T}; {X}{Y}{R} ]  Twisted Evil

Ah, great. That just made me decide to use Night's Whisper in favor of Deep Analysis in my High Tide deck.

Thanks  Smile

What about Ankh of Mishra?
If put out on turn 1 or 2 it's good for at least 4 damage during the game. It's frustrating too  Cool
8  Vintage Community Discussion / Casual Forum / How to feed a guiltfeeder ? [closed] on: July 22, 2004, 05:18:13 am
Bear in mind that if you are going for Millstone / Brain Freeze win you will have trouble winning against decks that uses Gaea's Blessing.
It's not as common as it was before, but I suggest include Jester's Cap. The cap is just pure evil against combo and can remove Blessings as well.

I can't see how you are going to make use of Standstill when you got no manlands. You need a guiltfeeder in the board before the Standstill and waiting 6 turns before putting a standstill in the board is to long in Type1.

I think the Solution at card advantage is not Standstill but Brainstorm. I think that Thran Quarry isn't needed and I suggest putting inn Polluted Delta. They also can fetch all of the dual lands.

Manabase:

-2 Thran Quarry +2 Polluted Delta

Draw:

-4 Standstill +4 Brainstorm

Correct me if I'm wrong.

The flashback ability can only be played as a Sorcery. I was especially thinking about Deep Analysis.
10  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Copy Artifact on Isochron Scepter on: July 18, 2004, 07:42:06 am
My opponent cast Copy Artifact on my Isochron Scepter which got a Mana Drain imprinted on it.

Will my opponent choose a new card from his hand and imprint on the Scepter og does Mana Drain stick on it?
11  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Stifle on: July 18, 2004, 07:38:08 am
My opponent plays Jester's Cap and activates it.
I counter with Stifle.

Will the Cap go to the graveyard?

Does this happen to other cards that requires you to sacrifice when activating it?

Hello!

Is it possible to Stifle a City of Brass when it's tapped for mana, preventing the player from getting the mana from the brass in the mana pool?

Is it possible to do the same with a basic land?

Thanks!

Stifle says on the card that mana abilities can't be countered.

If I had an english Sifle I would have seen that
Right now my Stifle's is from China.

how do you cast scrying with blue mana?
U is blue, not black
Hehe, sorry my mistake. I should have wrote 3B.

Thanks btw, I wasn't aware that you had to remove cards in the grave at the same time as casting the spell. Thus it makes the spell dangreous if it's countered.

Thanks ppl  Very Happy
14  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Skeletal Scrying on: July 13, 2004, 05:02:21 am
Ah, ok so 3U will result in drawing 3 cards, loosing 3 life and remove 3 cards from grave.
15  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Skeletal Scrying on: July 13, 2004, 04:24:32 am
I'm not sure how to play Skeletal Scrying.

Do I pay U and then an amount of colorless mana that is equal to the number of cards in my graveyard I wish to remove and then draw X cards.
Or do I pay U and then remove X cards in my graveyard and draw X cards?

I know this sounds very very stupid, but I have no idea.
16  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Re: Stifle against lands on: July 13, 2004, 04:11:57 am

No. Mana abilities don't use the stack, so you can't respond to your opponent tapping a land (or mox, or sol ring, or even metalworker) for mana.

I thought you could stifle a mox, lotus, sol ring and so on because they are treated as instant effects...
I know tapping a land doesn't.

Keep in mind that many decks in T1 has either Null Rod in maindeck or sideboard.

In my eyes this will completly shut doen your mana base, and rest of the deck. The only non-artifact land I see is Underground Sea, Tolarian and Ancient Tomb. None of those produce Red mana.

So I suggest you use 4 Chain of Vapor. This might help you get rid of the Null Rod for 1 turn.
Another solution may be the use of Rack and Ruin. But then you will need to change your mana base. It might seem like a though call to remove artifact lands in this deck.

Another dangerous threat is Gorilla Shaman 2.

20  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [Single Card question] Mana Drain in Landstill / WTF on: July 08, 2004, 11:45:34 am
Hi all  Very Happy
(yes I'm in good mood again, hehe)

I am currently building myself a new deck to play with, but Ã?'m switching between Landstill and WTF build with Flying Men and no Conclaves.

I am thinking of getting me some power (no not P9), Mana Drains.

What I wish to ask is if Mana Drain fits in with WTF. I know it does in Landstill because of Disk's.

Null Rod's are in my WTF, and I thought Mana Drain on turn 2 would be good when it may result in a free Null Rod.

Any opinions.
I am soon going to make the desicion of wheter to get Mana Drains or not.

Thanks in advance  Cool

Ok, if I have a Gorilla Shaman in play and my opponent got one of those artifact lands from Mirrodin ( Great Furnace ).
Can I use the Shaman to destroy the artifact land for 1?

Thanks!
24  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Mind's Desire on: July 06, 2004, 03:08:55 am
So the only spells I can play between the storm effects is instants, and spells that can be played as an instant.

26  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Isochron Scepter + Orim's Chant on: July 05, 2004, 03:42:39 am
Hello again  Razz

I play Isochron Scpeter and Imprint Orim's Chant.
When I activate the Scepter in my opponents upkeep can I choose to play the chant with the kicker or is it played without the kicker?
27  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Mind's Desire on: July 05, 2004, 03:27:09 am

Mind's Desire is broken
28  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Mind's Desire on: July 05, 2004, 03:22:04 am
Super!
Thanks again  Very Happy

I got another question then!

Quote from: Mind's Desire says
Shuffle your library. Then remove the top card of your library from the game. Until end of turn, you may play it as though it were in your hand without paying its mana cost. (If it has X in its mana cost, X is 0.) Storm (When you play this spell, copy it for each spell played before it this turn.)

That means that I can let the Desire resolve ( including the storm effect ). Say I removed 4 cards and I play one of them, the play a Will and then proceed with the rest?
This is after all the storm effects has resolved.

Is this possible?
