Congrats to the Top 8 for a good showing and Nick D. for such a great tournament. I'm hoping the stellar showing and the awesome meta are good signs of a great year of Vintage ahead, although I hope to have more wins in the future. I'm gonna do my best to come out for the February event.

Congrats to Sean and the rest of the Top 8.

Nick, sincere apologies I couldn't make it. I look forward to any events you can put together in the future.

Unless the date can change, I, too, should be in Canada.

Gonna do my best to come out for this. Any rides from the NYC area available?

If you take the train I'll pick you up and I don't even know you. WHAM! BAM! Community Building

Oh snap!

It looks like Nick is offering a mass pick up at Oceanside so I will hop in his carpool. Thanks for the offer!

He's 4-0 matches, 8-0 games. Persecutors, Mindcensors, Cabal Therapies, and Bitter Ordeal. He claims he made the deck this morning.

Does anyone from the New York area who is going to this have extra space in their car? A friend and I were hoping to get in on Vintage/BBQ action and would very much appreciate a carpool. We can pitch in for gas, etc. Please PM me if you can help out!

Brian

I am glad Greg won the Sportsmanship prize. I played him in the Swiss and couldn't have hoped for a nicer opponent, although a first turn Sphinx of the Steel wind isn't the kindest play to make. Luckily, Spell Pierce can't hit Duplicant.

Thanks again for the ride, Chris. I will remind you I saved all our lives when I alerted you to the fact some dude was turning into us.

Thanks to Nick for throwing a fun event and everyone at NYSE for being great Magic players.

Agreed, this was a super fun time, and special thanks to Max, Nick and Dave for helping me organize transportation. I look forward to posting a not completely embarrassing record at the next NYSE event.

My name is Brian and I started playing Magic in the Homelands/Fallen Empires-clogged days. I gave it up around Visions due to money and the fact that my playgroup fell apart, and then played a few games in college before returning with a vengeance around Shadowmoor's release. The game was a lot more stimulating and the players were a lot more advanced, so I began gobbling up theory and game history as much as I could. I randomly played in a 10 proxy Legacy event and loved it, and then found out about 10 proxy Vintage events in the New York area. I have been going to these events when I can find the time and a ride. I've met a lot of the super nice folks in the NYSE/Philly Open scene, and they could not be a better group of gamers. After I had months of trouble getting on this board because of spam problems, they put me in touch with the right people and got my reputation cleared. Stellar work, fellas! I was told to post in this thread to make sure my account works, so I hope I'm not considered necroing an old thread.

I'm 27 and live in Brooklyn. I work in Manhattan as a writer. When not playing Magic I like to read Pynchon, DeLillo, DFW, or history books. Always up for WWII or colonialism chit chat.
