1  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Leonin Arbiter on: September 14, 2010, 03:26:57 pm
I guess I blanked on that.  I wanted the obvious WW plan and just adding some sort of card advantage.

Would Black splash for Bob be good?  The dissynergy of setting him up or luck ability with Mox Diamond could work.  The deck idea just needs tempo, slowing them down is good, but then we still need to finish them off before they find a way through.

I probably should also find an answer to Massacre, which wrecks the deck outright

I'm in a no-proxy, rather toned down meta.  Had to preface that so you can see my ideas are skewed.

Now I would make an argument that this could be ust another hate-bear, or it could be the etra piece of hate that gets others innovating W/x hate decks again.

If you use Jotun Grunts, it is is enough to matter, fight dredge, and recycles your used strip-effets

I was thinking that to fight the aggro matchs you could have things like Sunscour (terrible, but cost efficient), black for removal (meh plan, but access to Bob and Perish), or you could just handle Fish as Fish handles other decks (Run our own Goyfs and Swords).

On that last idea, Path to Exile is amazing when they have to pay 2 to get their possibly non-existent basic.

I think punting being on the draw to MUD is inevitable.  You can hope for Abolish, Seal, Pridemate, etc.  But either way it comes down to how they lock you out.  If it is the Golem, use ESG and Path.  Sphere, lay a land and play Abolish.  If anything, the bigger problem is the more draw oriented combo decks.

I firmly believe this will be something I grab 4x of early and try out in person.  There are so many hate-bears in just WW, that it could be done so cheaply and the results per $ would justify the investment.

Deck Idea for WW hate:

4x Leonin Arbiter (Tutor)
4x Ethersworn Cannonist (Storm)
4x Jotun Grunt (Dredge/Recursion)
3x Aven Mindcensor (Tutors)
4x Ictacian Jailineer (anti-Bob and Welder)
3x True Believer (Oath)

4x Path to Exile
3x Aura of Silence
1x Seal of Cleansing
3x Enlightened Tutor

5x Open Slot (Maybe Land Tax)

4x Mox Diamond
4x Wasteland
4x Ghost Quarter
1x Strip Mine
9x Plains

SB:
Tariff
Leyline of Sanctity
Orim's Chant
Silence
Abeyance
Swords
Steelshaper Mystic (w/ Jitte or SoFI)
Ronom Unicorn
Seal of Cleaning
Pithing Needle
Null Rod

I like the simplicity and nostalgic feel of bringing budget to fight Oath or Mud
