1  Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: [Deck Discussion] Oath of Druids with Rune-Scarred Demon on: August 02, 2011, 07:59:20 am
There was a similar deck that got some top8s here in france, using eternal witness.
See here : http://solomoxen.com/forum/index.php?topic=10889.0

It is true that with rune scarred demon, you can usually kill on the turn you're activating oath, either getting time walk from your grave, or tutoring for it (playing mystical or vampiric at upkeep, or demonic on main phase). Then, you can chain them each turn, while hitting for 6, 12 and 18... Or winning by any other mean.
Well, i totally agree on the concept, using RSD is a good idea.

Nevertheless, I wonder how do you deal with a MUD player with, let's say 2 spheres-like on table ? It is still playable if (an only if) you're able to get time walk in the grave (replaying it for 4), but if you have to tutor for it, it would cost you quite a bit of mana. Instead, a dragon's breath-boosted emrakul could finish the job.

Just wondering how you intend to deal with this specific match-up.
Thanks.

Hello,
I would like to know if the vault/key combo is really needed...
I mean, you can already "pseudo-tinker" for metalworker + staff, that just wins you the game (with the same weaknesses, by the way) without having to fill tour build with dead cards. Correct me if I'm wrong...
The only time this is worst than vault/key is when you would have staff on the table and you need metalworker, which forces you to pass the turn. Is it really a reason important enough to play 5 dead cards ?

Thanks for your answers.

Overall, I liked having Tendrils maindeck, since I always had the option to finish with Tendrils, where BF wouldn't have helped.
When hearing this, I feel like you included ToA just for a matter of personal comfort. Am I wrong ? What I would like to know is : was the maindeck ToA objectively more often usefull / needed to win than sticking in your hand without use, and so taking the slot for a more usefull card ?

About tinker/jar, this may finally be a simple matter of metagame.

I would like to know if you have tested with a maindeck demonic consultation ? This might seem awkward at first, but with 3 kills, multiple confidants/forces/drains, this might work ? I'm still testing it, but consultation can sometimes give you THE boost needed to win right now.

Hello,

First, gg, for proving that watskeburt is still viable.

I would like to hear your thoughts on the ToA maindeck. When reading your report, it seems that you didn't use it at all, every time you could storm, it was an overkill and you could simply use brainfreeze.

I do agree that the addition of dark confidant gives a huge boost to the deck, but is that worth including ToA ? Unlike brainfreeze, ToA is totally useless unless the time you need to kill.

About memory jar : I've played this a lot in watskeburt, and was very pleased with it. But with null rod archetypes rising (at least here in france), doesn't jar get shut off too often ? And why not including instead one big fat dude for tinker ? Even if Mr Big Fatty is totally useless while storming, it gives a good improvement of the MUD and the fish match-ups.

Thanks.

Hi everyone, this is my first post here.
I just wanted to point out the following fact : the trick with DB doesn't work, because it still is not in the grave when you put into play the big dude (via oath).
