1  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: [Innistrad] - Snapcaster Mage on: September 02, 2011, 07:32:56 pm
This is quite amazing, and certainly has eternal potentials. I think the greatest thing about this is that it has flash, EoT this + ancestral will be a pretty common play. The 2/1 body is also very very decent. The only question would be, what do you cut for it? Flash it, target FoW -> pitch another card would be a pretty decent last resort counter as well.

No, to cast FoW from the yard, you have to pay the flashback cost defined by Snapcaster Mage, so you're not allowed to pitch.

Btw, isn't this radically different from the Tiago's original version? I thought that was a counterspell on a land...

R&D couldn't make his original card work, so they had him send in several more submissions.
2  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / [SoM] Semblance Anvil on: September 16, 2010, 02:24:15 pm
Edit: Sorry, didn't realize there was already a thread on this topic. Please put the name of the card into the thread title instead of writing something vague like " Big Bomb Artifact Enabler" which makes it impossible to tell what the thread was about from just looking at the thread titles! Mods, please delete or merge.

Semblance Anvil

Artifact
Imprint - When Semblance Anvil enters the battlefield, you may exile a nonland card from your hand.
Spells you cast that share a card type with the exiled card cost 2 less to cast.

Just the right cost to be dropped with Workshop and then provides super-acceleration. Sure, it has some card disadvantage, but so did Chrome Mox and Mox Diamond.

This is an excellent bulletin on the basics.  The section under practice is the only one that I have a problem with.  I'm not on a team, nor have I had any team mates.  I live in an area that is not known for having local Vintage players - we are very few and far between.  Finding a game online is, was, always was, and always will be a nightmare (rude opponents, severely scrubby opponents, or no opponents at all).  Then I have a complicated work schedule with a two-hour (one-way) commute.  (yeah, Rich, I just started a new job.  It's a shitty new job, but it's paying the bills)

Do you have a local game shop? Go there a few times and get to know the people there. Then ask if people would be willing to join an email list to coordinate online Vintage games.
