During all the proxy/playtest hubbub, was there any reference to the playability of collectors edition?
Not sure how any of these questions relate to sanctioned Vintage. Just to be clear this is sanctioned vintage (see the title). One other note, the prizes do translate (reasonably well) to SCG store credit. But you have to have 100 tickets to get a gift card ($25). So if you are looking for store credit keep that in mind when counting up your duckets.

We've had U/g/b survival with Vines at our local sanctioned. He was U/g aggro with sotf for a toolbox of fairly obvious good creatures. He also had sotf to enable a combo kill with Flash (via Worldspine Wurm).

Maybe choose a couple of eternal themes to help drafting, plenty of tribal (Rath Block Slivers, Merfolk, Elves, Goblins, Soldiers all have some things that could use a reprint).
Put the Zendifetches @ Rare to help squelch the cries.
I'd expect Storm in there. High Tide, the blue cantrip suite, Brain Freeze at common, Tendrils at Uncommon, maybe Time Spiral at rare. (I'd say Palinchron but it's a rare twice and would be a shitbadawful rare in Eternal Masters) Time Spiral and Pally are reserved list so they are non starters. But your point is well taken ... a Dark Ritual with some absolutely hideous art is expected.

It's not necessarily a problem of conscious bias on the part of the Academy members; they just happen to be something like 90+% white. People have an easier time connecting to films with characters like them, which means the Academy members are predisposed to select movies about white people.
This is true. The BET awards have only seen 2-3 white people nominated, the voting body is 95% black. The chance of Ang Lee winning a BET award is low.

So Eternal Masters, old bordered begrudgingly with a hologram with only non reserved list cards might help a bit but mana bases are still the most expensive cards. Another problem for this set is appealing to eternal players would mean keeping the art, which would mean royalties in some cases. I guess they did it with Time Spiral so there is precedent. I suppose they could put the photoshop WoW trash in old border. Either way the originals will just continue to go up given the demand increasing.
(101 commons, 80 uncommons, 53 rares, 15 mythic rares)
Or how about the mythics as old bordered ?
Force of Will Karakas Wasteland Dack Fayden (could use a reprint) Liliana of the Veil Imperial Recruiter Tarmogoyf Sol Ring (old bordered foil ... would probably be savage) Mana Crypt (same thing) Lodestone Golem (and print it in Korean so I can fap) Some crappy cycle like the Titans / Invasion-Legends Dragons ...
Maybe choose a couple of eternal themes to help drafting, plenty of tribal (Rath Block Slivers, Merfolk, Elves, Goblins, Soldiers all have some things that could use a reprint).
Put the Zendifetches @ Rare to help squelch the cries.

one movie I barely see mentioned in this thread is Sicario. The movie is unbelievably good. Psychologically violent and tense, I believe Denis Villeneuve should win Best Director for the movie. Benicio Del Torro takes home his second Oscar for best supporting actor.
I also watched this the other night on the recommendation from Klep in this thread. It was fantastic. Josh Brolin was great also with his aura of control, confidence and almost righteous authority. BDT was able to take scenes without saying hardly anything. Emily Blunt was perfect as the patsy, you could sympathize enough with her to feel bad as her world view gets battered around and eventually shattered. Super film, surprised it didn't get a nod in something, but I haven't seen some of the other films that beat it out. Oscar nominees are out, and you'll need snow goggles to keep from being blinded by the whiteness. Even in the one nomination they gave to Straight Outta Compton (Original Screenplay), they managed to avoid nominating any black people. They also avoided Chinese American people, Pakistani American people, and a huge number of nominees are right handed which personally left me feeling excluded. Are movies featuring not 'white people' supposed to get special dispensation? I honestly don't know. Was Creed or SoCs blackness a factor for inclusion or exclusion in your opinion? I saw both and didn't really hone in on their inherent blackness or whiteness. I was more upset that they left Ren out of the story for the most part, he's also black. For semi-biographical takes like The Big Short, Spotlight or Bridge of Spies where no black people or Chinese people were actually involved do you feel like they should go out of their way to add black people or a random Mexican person? In SooC would a Japanese Eazy-E have made sense? Do you think the Academy voters hate black people consciously or do you think they subconsciously dismiss superior efforts of black people?

Star City Games has heard the requests for Vintage side events. If you are in anyway considering heading to Grand Prix Washington D.C., try your best to make it! Show them that it's worth scheduling these events and let's make sure they fire with a respectable number of players. Their efforts in Atlanta for the GP were received and all the Vintage events fired, it was a blast! These events are sanctioned. They (will!) fire everyday at 1:50pm, Star City also heard the community and prize tickets can now be exchanged for SCG credit in the form of gift cards. Plenty of eternal staples for sale. Additionally at the GP you can expect Star City to have their played inventory, I bought a beta Tundra and two beta Underground Seas at GP Atlanta and got great deals on both. Artist alley is also released and it's pretty good. Jesper Myrfors, Terese Nielsen are the headliners. The details can be found here. http://gpdc.starcitygames.com/schedule.phpMake every effort to attend at least one of these to show Star City that it's worth supporting Vintage!

I own everything, no white border cards that aren't P3K. I hate proxies and looking at poorly made ones irritates me as I enjoy the aesthetics of a nice looking vintage deck. That being said I wish they'd abolish the reserved list and judiciously reprint cards off it (the foil loophole closing was really a shame). I also wish they'd allow IE/CE/Gold cards, that are unmarked.

I'll check it out, I think the first match is just a warm up. We didn't have commentary or accurate (?) life until round 2. Our commentary monkey showed up late!
He activates stage with depths in play, the guy casts StP, the DD player casts Misstep, Mentor player casts Flusterstorm, then the DD player casts a second Misstep, either targeting the Flusterstorm by mistake giving him 20 extra life, or Missteping the StP, resolving in a Marit Lage. LOL, well I think he punts savagely. But his opponent (in the Tusk shirt) verbally acknowledges his life total of 40. I can't see what else Morgan (on the right) had in hand or whether he should have been dead to Cthulu. Either way, good for him it was a warm up match :p Anyway, thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching. Hopefully we'll be streaming live sanctioned vintage once a month. The organizer is stoked that it fired!
