Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Myriad Games closing

So I heard that Myriad will be closing at the end of January. They've long been a great supporter of vintage and it'll be sad to see them go.
To my knowledge there are no other stores in the area that host regular vintage tournaments. Would any of the regulars like to explore other options? And how far is everyone willing to travel?
Hopefully we can keep the NH vintage scene going.

If the attendees of this event play Magic as well as they trash talk you might as well just give me that mox right now Craig. Saves everybody the time and cuts out the middle man.
You can bet your sweet bippy I trash talk as well as I play Magic, friend!

So I talked to Scott today (owner of ComicsPlus) and he's definitely on board for running some Vintage 8-mans this weekend. He just wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page as far as proxies, etc. so we can discuss that on Saturday. Tiny Leaders flights, too!
I also told him about our group and what we're trying to do in terms of getting something going on a more permanent basis for the Vintage scene in the area, and he seemed pretty excited to accommodate our fledgling group. It might be nice to have a few options in town.
Looking forward to seeing people again on Saturday. I"ll be there at 9 to battle, and will be hanging out for most of the day.

They're basically going to fire any events that you want. Drafts, constructed, there's gunslinging. Plus raffles for cards, other prices, all proceeds going to support Jaycee. I think it's going to be $5 entry fee per 8 man (more for draft of course) and $3 to gunsling. You get points based on your finish that you can redeem for cards.
I'll have a Commando deck built too, inspired by a vintage list.
Also, would you guys be willing to up the proxy count at all, or even make it unlimited proxy? If that's the case I can throw together a few extra decks so we have some spares to make it to 8 people if need be. And I can also throw in a fetch land or something for a 2nd place prize too.

I had a great time slinging some spells yesterday, and it was great to meet some new Vintage enthusiasts in the area. I'm glad another person came after I left to even it out. I mentioned this yesterday but if you are free Saturday, there is a charity tournament at Comics Plus in Manchester. All of the proceeds go to benefit a daughter of one of the regulars who was diagnosed with leukemia. There will be tournaments running all day, and some nice prizes that were donated by the store and its patrons (JTMS, Brimaz, fetches, sealed product, etc). If you want to learn more about specifics, you can go to www.comicsplusnh.com. I'll be there for sure with a vintage deck so if you want to come down and jam all while supporting a good cause, I'll see you Saturday. In terms of a regular weeknight, my preference would be Monday, Wednesday or Friday. Tuesday/Thursday could potentially work if the start times were later. I'll PM my info for the group, too.

Tomorrow is looking great for some Vintage at Double Midnight in Manchester!
Double Midnight Game : 245 MAPLE STREET MANCHESTER, NH 03103
The store opens at noon. I'll be there at 12ish and for a while.
Looking forward to some vintaging!
Awesome, I'll see you there! As a note to everyone, please don't be shy about introducing yourself! I'm a fairly large gentleman so you definitely won't miss me. I'll have some decks sleeved up in pink Dragon Shields. Looking forward to meeting everyone!
