1  Eternal Formats / Creative / [Budget Deck] MonoG Land Destruction. Feedback wanted! on: December 20, 2004, 05:48:09 pm
Hi, the living wish idea can be useful, but i'm not sure with the 3sphere. Playing it you might cut the root maze, and i think it's one of the most important cards in the deck. Maybe 3sphere works better in aggro matchups, and maybe there are a lor of them in your meta. However, i agree with you in one thing: 3sphere is better than sphere of resistance.

I play 11 land destruction cards, and i don't like argothian wurm and creeping mold. The 2cc cost fot the mold is a lot, i play 3 winter's grasp and 4 thermokarst.

A post in this forum talked about play a white splash. I don't test it yet, but could be a good option against oath and aggro. I don't like the blue splash, as you say it only apports gilde drake or back to basics. One of the problems of the white splash with root maze is that you can't play fetch lands. Including 3sphere may be a solution.

Byez and please continue posting  Wink

My prefer option is NOT run mana drains cause it burns you in many cases, since you not run Intuition+AK draw engine or mind twist. Instead, a good option are counterspells (obviously): i don't like mana leak and if you have problems to have UU open in your meta, the best option is Daze, cause works well with dryads, and if you plays first, helps a lot against some treats of Shop decks like 3sphere or crucible. Test it and forgive my English. Byez

I really likes the white-splash idea. I will test it and if it works, I play it. Another options are the black splash (duress) or the red splash (fire/ice, anti-artifacts as artifact mutation). What do you think about it??

terravore isnt a good option, cause you will play at 5th turn, after a winter grasp and a termokarst for example, and in turn 5th there's a lot of creatures better than terravore... you may play ravenous baloth, and other creature better than troll ascetic... the mana curve, a pillar of magic, remember it ^^

The terravore is a great card in this deck, in the 5th turn you won´t have five or six mana in all your games, so a 3cc creature is good. For example, Terravore is far better than Argothian wurm and with a sword is simply a monster.
About Sphere of resistance, consider include it in the SB against aggro because I think it hasn`t space in the MD.
And now a question: Do you think that including SKULLCLAMP in the SB may be a good weapon against control decks? Recycling elfs or witness can be a good idea. However, it seems as a crazy idea, I know. Comment it please

A posible SB can be:

3x Chalice of the Void
4x Naturalize
1x Powder keg
2-3x Spike feeder??
1-2x Masticore
3x Null rod

hi, this is my deck list

DECK

4 Ice Storm
4 Thermokarst
3 Winter's grasp

4 Llanowar elves
4 Fyndhorn elves
1 Sol ring

4 Tangle wire
3 Powder keg
2 Swords of fire and ice
1 Crucible of worlds

3 Eternal witness
4 Terravore
3 Root maze

LANDS

1 Dust bowl
1 Strip mine
4 Wasteland
1 Pendelhaven
14 snow-covered forests

The deck has 61 cards and many months ago it works perfectly. Now I don't know if the metagame is the most appropiate, but the deck is funny and I play it for this.

The most strange cards are the snow-covered forests   and the swords  Confused . Well, the forests are in because combinates good with Thermokarst in a desesperate situation, and they are basic lands. The swords are very useful in combination with witness or elfs turning little men in dead machines that are a 4 turn clock and give the deck ¡card advantage!, something unusual in mono-green decks.

For the SB I include 4 copies of naturalize (a bomb in my meta, maybe in the MD) and 3 Chalice of the void against Superpower decks with pack and moxen and against slight or stompy. The rest of the SB is free depending of your meta (ground seal, ascetic troll, etc) and the typical green SB cards.

Well, I hope this help you  Wink . Byez

you can also add Chalice of the void in the ascetic troll's slot if in your meta there are a lot of pack.

9  Eternal Formats / Creative / [Deck] Unpowered Oath on: November 18, 2004, 04:46:14 pm
in my opinion the best option is UG Oath, because you only include a few black cards, and if you play 2 colors, you can add lands as 2 wastelands and 2 treetop village/mishras factory and a single Crucible of worlds. With this, you will have more possibilities in the long-game, don't forget that you won't win all the matchs on the 4 turn. Also this configuration allows you to add back to basics if your meta change to a non-basic lands meta (in this case the treetops maybe go out).

Sorry my English
10  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [Budget] Earthcraft on: November 16, 2004, 07:16:09 pm
Hi, this is a deck that I played before the restriciton of Earthcraft, and after the unrestriction I thought in it again. I test it a bit and this is the last list I made:

COMBO
4 Earthcraft
4 Squirrel nest

DISRUPTION
4 Duress
4 Cabal therapy
2 Naturalize

TUTORS
1 Demonic tutor
1 Vampiric tutor
1 Demonic consultation
4 Plungue into darkness

MANA
4 Birds of paradise
4 Llanowar elves
4 Elvish Spirit guide
4 Land grant

1 Lotus Petal
1 Chrome Mox
1 Mox diamond
3 Bayou
4 forest
5 swamp
4 havenwood battlegrounds
1 Volrath's Stronghold

EXPLANATION:

Earthcraft and Squirrel Nest: Obviously
Duress and Cabal therapy: This deck is a budget, so the speed isn't its best quality. Other combo decks may win in second and sometimes first turn, and we can put off his hand his treats with some of disruption. Also it keep away the countermagic to put
Naturalize: For the same reason, the metagame requires naturalize in the MD to get a fast response against Oath, Welder... Maybe 2 is a too low number.
Demonic tutor, Vampiric tutor, Demonic consultation: Obviously. The best tutors.
Plungue into darkness: This requires more explanation. The deck run with a 2-cards combo, and often is unnecessary search a piece to win. However, including more tutors we can hope draw in the first turns both combo cards. Why plungue? Because we play 8 creatures plus the Squirrel tokens and only for this the plungue is better than spoils, for example. Also, I include a freak posibility: Gain infinite lifes with one million squirrels and a plungue (against anything that imposibility you attack, for example)

The rest of the cards are basic: mana acceleration

Ok, I know this isn't a winner deck, but I wants to adapt it to the metagame and make it better and I require help for this. Thanks for all
