1  Vintage Community Discussion / Casual Forum / Battle for New Phyrexia: Star Style on: May 19, 2011, 07:13:40 pm
I always wanted to make a set of "Star" style Magic decks and the newest expansion has a good backstory for a scenario.  I want to use all Phyrexian cards from the Scars of Mirrodin block to make the decks.
However I am undecided if I should make them regular decks, or a EDH scenario?  EDH would be fluffy and fun but I am not sure if the card pool would be big enough.

How are colored artifacts and colorless cards counted now?

My sugestion for colored artifacts is they count as an artifact and half of each color in their cost.

For colorless they should count as no color(imo), or maybe should they be counted as a 7th color?

Has anyone tried this format with rares?  I always wanted to play Prismatic but I am unable to get anyone to try it (I assume the deck 250-300 card deck puts people off) and this seems like a good alternative, but the pauper aspect may turn off potential players.
4  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Legacy Section? on: October 04, 2010, 07:54:05 pm
Would anyone else think a Legacy Section would be good on this site?  I often see Legacy tournaments advertised on this site, and with Vintage and Legacy closely related it would be good to have one site for both.

PS to any mods:
I am not asking for a major overhaul of the site to be done, just single child board in the "Other Formats" board.

@  Wagner, I agree.  Every game I lost was to poison counters, and my life was above 20 multiple times when I died.  I had a couple of the 4/3s for 3BB who drain life for 4, and the drain life that costs X {B} {B} and the life i gained was completely irrelevant.

To me at least, the fact that it can't be undone the same way damage can is part of what makes poison what it is.  I'm assuming that there will be ways to get rid of poison counters in the next set though, as Mirroden learns to fight off the infection.

An interview with Mark Rosewater who was head of the design team. He claims there will be no way to remove poison counters in Scars of Mirrodin block.
6  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: New Miracle Grow Shell, need help on: September 22, 2010, 07:48:10 pm
I also have been thinking of a miracle grow deck with the unrestricting of Gush and Frantic.  I was playtesting a grow deck a while back that had black in it for the tutors and 2 duress and 4 thoughtsieze, although the deck used Quirion.  I had some success with it but I simply moved onto other decks (still trying to find a deck I like).  Personally I would splash black at least for Demonic, Vampiric and Yawgmoths Will, and might still play 3-4 discard if I had room.  When I playtested the old build I found that the discard did help.

7  Eternal Formats / Null Rod Based Aggro / Why is "Fish" called "Fish"? on: September 17, 2010, 10:20:48 pm
Out of curiosity, how did this deck get the name "Fish"?  It doesn't seem to make any sense to me.  I can understand why Merfolk in Leagacy are called Fish but I don't see the comparison between the two decks.
8  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Re: Morph Question on: August 30, 2010, 03:15:12 pm
In my original example, say I turn a Voidmage Prodigy (or any other morph creature) face down somehow.  Later in the game, my opponent(s) forget which one was turned face down.  If they ask me what face down creature is the Voidmage, do I have to tell them or is it up to them to remember?
9  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / Morph Question on: August 29, 2010, 10:51:05 pm
If I have a creature with morph in play that gets turned face down along with a face down creature(s), am I allowed to shuffle the cards together so my opponent(s) won't know what creature is which?
10  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Bridge from Below artwork on: August 29, 2010, 09:37:39 pm
I was looking at the artwork on the card Bridge from Below and was wondering if anyone else noticed something.  The guy in the foreground (with his back to the viewer) seems to be wearing Japanese styled clothes.  Being the card is a future shift card, this means there might be another Kamigawa block.  Or is it just me?
11  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / OverExtended, Will you Play? on: August 14, 2010, 05:47:37 pm
If WotC does make this format, how many of you would play it?  Also I have been thinking if WotC doesn't make it a format, who would still want to play it in an unofficial fromat?  The format seems to have taken hold in some MWS groups (most use the banned list from Legacy) that will most likely play it if it becomes a true format or not.
12  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Mono Blue Workshop on: August 07, 2010, 10:25:11 pm
I have been trying a new decklist with mixed results.  I found the list on another site in which it won a tournament, and people's thoughts on the deck seem to be split evenly as good and bad.  For me, it seems to totally dominate the game from early on or flounder early on.
Here is the decklist...
2 Darksteel Citadel
4 Mishra's Workshop
1 Tolarian Academy
4 Seat of the Synod
7 Island
3 Thada Adel, Acquisitor
4 Master of Etherium
4 Lodestone Golem
4 Triskelion
1 Inkwell Leviathan
1 Mox Emerald
1 Black Lotus
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
4 Chalice of the Void
1 Mana Vault
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Time Walk
1 Merchant Scroll
1 Hurkyl's Recall
1 Tinker
1 Trinisphere
4 Force of Will
4 Thoughtcast

Has anyone else seen a similar deck or played using it?  If so what are your thoughts?
