Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Single Card Discussion: Darkblast as anti-welder technology?

I don't believe it has been mentioned yet but another bonus to darkblast is that it can be used more than just twice a turn.
Dredge 3 (If you would draw a card, instead you may put exactly three cards from the top of your library into your graveyard. If you do, return this card from your graveyard to your hand. Otherwise, draw a card.)
The text specifically states that whenever you would draw a card... therefore you can cast a draw spell and return it to your hand as well. ~Nate

How so. I am not being sarcastic, I actually don't see it. I figure if you are running gifts, its just another way to go for lands, as you can search for the delta AND the strand if needed. Would you mind expanding on how it makes a difference please?
Thats exactly the point you can search for both. Thats also the reason other gifts lists run snow-covered islands. Another good reason for running both aside from gifts is pithing needle. If your opponent piths out your deltas OR your strands you still have half of your fetches rather then if you ran 4 of one fetch the opponent could hit all of them with one needle and leave you unable to get the colors you needed. ~Nate

@Ged: How is regrowth odd at all this is a gifts deck with green. Regrowth is a common gifts target so you can recur the broken junk that u bring out with it.
When just goldfishing the deck it definately has some raw power and a lot of autowin draws with plays like mox orchard oath, and mox mox land tinker. I think the deck has a great deal of potential. If anyone has better ideas for strengthening the mana base than sacred ground I would be most interested in hearing them. ~Nate

I don't mean to break from the train of conversation here but I threw tog together recently after just having played gifts belcher. Durring my testing of tog I would find myself intuitioning through my library and see yawg and tinker and just think to myself "if only I could grab these right now" but of course I couldn't because the two would be sent straight to my graveyard. I decided to add recoup to the deck and have had amazing success. I am able to pull off game breaking plays like intuition for recoup+yawg+tinker and recoup+yawg+ak #4. With plays like these I think that recoup definately warrants a slot in the deck.Â

The deck certainly does look like fun to play. It also seems to be extremely focused on the enchantment theme (obviously since it runs replenish). I wonder though, if with such a focus on the enchantment theme, wouldn't it be a good idea to run the back up of maybe taking tinker from the board and colossus for an alternate kill route?

This is an excellent site and resource. The only decks that I didn't see on the list were the fish variant wtf/r and the storm combo variant of oath. Great job.

The Rest: 2 Morphling 3 Back to Basics 4 Chalice of the Void
Uh, I don't think so considering the small fact that it's either not there or invisible.

I also play wtf/r and have done well in manly local tourneys but in your opinion is there a build of some sort that will allow fish to become high tier again? Is there any predicted meta change that could allow more blue based control to compete again making fish better again. I hear some people are trying to revamp psychatog.

Eternal Formats / Creative / Can fish come back?

The use of fish has been declining in the current meta. Even according to the article by Stephen Menendian fish is considered at this time a "rotten" deck. Fish has been severly hurt by the increasing use of workshop aggro, 7/10 and other such decks. The purpose of this article is to get any opinions as to when the meta might change enough to allow fish to compete again.

you have a very interesting deck. where did you get the idea that a solid meta deck could t8?
It's generally accepted and enforced that threads as old as this tournament report shouldn't be "upped" in the manner as this one was. If you wish to discuss the subject, search for a more recent thread discussing it or start your own.

many new versions of this highly meta-ed deck have been posted. all that i have seen so far have been u/w/b tricolor. they also seem to have very unsturdy mana bases. some of the more recent deck lists that i have been seeing have attempted to include city of brass as a possible mana fixer. i wanted the general concensus of people whether a 2 color u/w version would be possible if not better. also i have seen that many eba decks have a lack of card draw and an excess of card filtering such as impulse and brainstorm. i want to see the reaction to the possible inclusion of accumulated knowledge (AK) into this deck.
