This week at C and J's the metagame was very strong as all the tier 1 decks were present. This weeks attendance was roughly 20-25, with mostly powered players present. People at attendance were: Zhalfirin, Thelegendofhomoerotics, Lotushead, Unstablecornbread and Fishhead. The decks to beat were: Dragon, TNT, TurboLand, U/G madness, U/R fish and 2 black decks, 1 I think was void.
The winner this week was TheLegendofHomoErotics AKA Brian playing Dragon
His Decklist consisted of:
4 bazaar of baghdad
3 necromancy
2 dance of the dead
3 animate deads
3 compulsion
4 intuition
4 Force of Will
1 ancestral recall
1 time walk
1 demonic tutor
1 vampiric tutor
3 duress
1 ambassador laquatus
1 shivan hellkite
4 squee goblin nabob
4 world gorger dragon
4 polluted deltas
3 underground seas
1 bayou
1 volcanic
1 tropical
1 swamp
2 gemstone mine
1 mox jet
1 mox sapphire
1 mox emerald
1 mox ruby
1 mox pearl
1 black lotus
1 mana crypt
Round 1: He totally crushes Fish, the game consisted of him killing his opponent with turn 1 kill game 1 and game 2, 3 verdant forces came over for the win.
Round 2: He went head on with lotushead's slapjack. Game 1 Lotushead got a turn 2 kill with his salvager combo. The Legend comes back game 2 with a turn 4 kill with many stifles in hand to slow lotusheads mana base by stopping 3 of his fetches. Game 3: both players kept crappy hand as lotus head has the salvager in play with no white mana to recover his lotus. In the end Dragon combos off as Lotusheads aether spellbomb tech is thwarted by a stifle.
Round 3: he plays Frozen poop combo? He murders his opponent...
Round 4: He played turbo land , Dragon combos off turn 4 after both players mulligan down to 5. Game 2 Dragon gets an insane hand and comboes off quickly. MVP Bazaar and Intuition in response to EOTC of the JAr effect.
Round 5: U/G madness Thelegend mulls down to 6 and duress's his opponent and passes. Next turn the Legend drops bazaar, bazaars into combo with Fow Back up!!!! Game 2, 2 verdant forces greet U/G
madness and say goodnight.
Dragon's strengths: Randomly owning turn 1 or 2. 3 stifles and 3 Verdants = good tech versus most metagames. Perhaps maindecking xantids may be better in a fish heavy metagame.
Dragon's weakness's: Drawing non-nazaar hands and having a bunch of animates in hand. The need to aggressively mulligan. Random stifles owning dragon.
Props: To TheLegendOfHomoErotics for coming out and demenstrating how to correctly refer to himself in the third person for the entirety of this post
Slops: To the non-believers of TheLegendOfHomoErotics's skill.........
