I'm one of Brendan's barns. I haven't really played Vintage much except for a random Blue Bell tournament Brendan dragged me to a few months ago. I still am showing my support though.

I vote:
Brendan Banfield
Jeff Anand
Nick Detwiler

How about...

Relinquished Discovery ( {1} {G} {U}, Sorcery)
Choose a player. Search that player's library for a land and put it onto the battlefield tapped under another target player's control.

You can steal other player's lands, or donate one of your own. Making it basics only makes it kinda bad.
3  Vintage Community Discussion / Non-Vintage / Re: Garruk deck builds anyone? on: February 16, 2008, 12:34:56 am
Think of Garruk being a Call of the Herd, a mana generator, a Fog if your opponent attacks him, and sometimes even an Overrun.

That's why people play Garruk - because of its flexibility.

Normal superpower: Lightning speed!
Retard powers: Lightning speed! Except you get just as tired as you would normally walk that distance.

Normal superpower: Super hearing!
Retard superpower: Not hearing a damn thing at all.
6  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Best basic lands on: September 15, 2005, 09:04:57 am
It's easy to say Guru lands and Unglued/Unhinged lands, but these are also good.

I like the spiky Plains from Mirrodin foiled:

The Island from 7th Edition with the strings of small clouds floating by:

8  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Coolest Alteration? on: October 22, 2004, 09:42:52 pm
This is one of the coolest alterations I have seen:

There's also another cool one with the textless Terror.

Remember when no one was into poker?

Remember when Erhnam/Serra/Fat Moti was good?

Remember when Time Vault was insane?

Remember when Type 1 was dead as a dead horse?

Remember Necro Summer and Combo Winter?

Remember when Jim McGreevey was straight?

TMD ORACLE: "I would welcome a DCI ruling that French cards cannot attack."

They should probably be worded like Skulking Ghost.

"If a French card is the target of a spell or effect, it surrenders. (Remove this card from the game and tuck your goddamn head between your legs.)"

As for sweet lands, the Great Wall and Sunflower Plains are awesome, and so are the original and Ice Age land pictures foiled (the forest is shown):

Looking back, it's hard to believe that the Urza's Block came out six years ago. I'm still inclined to treat it like a "recent" block, even though it's closer to the beginning of Magic than to the present!

I have something like that, too.  Tempest block felt like it just came out still, although strangely Odyssey felt like it was last it rotated out like ages ago.

Urza's and Tempest block are probably two of my favorite blocks ever. Urza's block gave me my favorite card and made my favorite color not embarrasingly bad.

By the way, I'm 19 years and 1 day old. I've been playing since September 1996 (the first week of sixth grade). To give you an idea how long I've been playing, I'm now finished with my first year of college.

I removed the regeneration, but it feels like it's a little too weak. Maybe ph33r?
16  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / Cabal Mortician on: June 03, 2004, 08:00:48 pm
A nice and simple creature that actually would be able to see some constructed play.

Cabal Mortician (B, Creature - Zombie Cleric, 1/1)
Whenever a creature would be put into a graveyard from play, remove that creature from the game instead.
BB: Regenerate Cabal Mortician.

Current Wording:
Cabal Mortician
B
Creature - Zombie Cleric
Fear
Whenever a creature would be put into a graveyard from play, remove that creature from the game instead.
1/1

18  Vintage Community Discussion / Community Introductions / Introduce Yourself on: June 02, 2004, 08:08:39 am
I've been lurking for a while, but why not introduce myself now?

My name's Adam and I live on Long Island (Bellport, if you're curious). I've been playing Magic since Mirage, but I don't have much of the Type 1 goodies (including most duals). Over the past few months, though, I have traded to get a Drain as well as a few duals.

My favorite deck ever was Trinity Green, and my favorite card is Deranged Hermit.

This Sunday, I'm going to my first big Type 1 tournament in Jersey (Game Master). Thank god for 10 proxies.

I have one gripe about TMD though, and that's the fact that Basic Users cannot post in the tournament announcement/report forum. Considering quite a bit of announcements are coming from Basic Users, wouldn't it make sense to open that particular forum for all?

Whenever a red, green, black or white spell is played, switch Tetra Elemental's power and toughness (This effect does not end at end of turn.)

You might want to add the part about effects that alter power and toughness being switched as well, or it might create a little confusion, especially with all of the equipment these days.

It's not really necessary. Not all P/T switches have that text (see Aquamoeba).

I was also thinking of making this a 5/2. Would that be too powerful, or not?

I fixed the wording. Anything else?

Right now, this deck seems fairly heavily dependent on four Spoils of the Vault. However, Spoils bears remarkable similarity to Demonic Consultation, a restricted card. Furthermore, the DCI tends to have it in for Tutor cards - and the way everybody talks about it, Spoils seems to be a relatively good one. Is it likely/possible that Spoils will be restricted sometime in the near future? I ask because I've got one copy at present, but I'd hate to invest in more copies of a card that's going to get aced. I'd probably rather try my hand at the Death Wish build.

Spoils are so cheap ($1 or less) that it honestly doesn't matter if they get restricted or not. Plus, nothing in Type One is breaking Spoils to a really great degree, so I don't forsee Spoils getting restricted anytime soon.

Tetra Elemental (3UU, Creature - Elemental, 5/1)
Flying
Whenever a red or green spell is played, Tetra Elemental loses flying. Switch Tetra Elemental's power and toughness. (This effect doesn't end at end of turn.)
Whenever a black or white spell is played, untap Tetra Elemental. Switch Tetra Elemental's power and toughness. (This effect doesn't end at end of turn.)

Tetra Elemental (3UU, Creature - Elemental, 5/2)

Whenever a red, green, black or white spell is played, switch Tetra Elemental's power and toughness (This effect does not end at end of turn.)
Whenever a red or green spell is played, Tetra Elemental loses flying until end of turn.
Whenever a black or white spell is played, untap Tetra Elemental.

25  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / A balanced Lotus variant? on: April 15, 2004, 03:16:29 pm
I changed it so it no longer taps for its sacrifice ability. I also made the mana producing into a cantrip as well.
26  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / A balanced Lotus variant? on: April 15, 2004, 02:18:42 pm
Torn Lotus (0, Artifact)
Imprint - T: Remove a non-land, non-artifact card from your hand the game. You may not imprint more than three cards on Torn Lotus in this way.
Sacrifice Torn Lotus, T: For each card imprinted on Torn Lotus, add one mana of that card's color to your mana pool.

At the very least, you need three turns and three cards to turn this into something resembling Lotus, and one card to turn this into a Petal (and it replaces that card). What do you guys think?

Original Wording:
Torn Lotus (0, Artifact)
Imprint - T: Remove a non-land, non-artifact card from your hand the game. You may not imprint more than three cards on Torn Lotus in this way.
Sacrifice Torn Lotus: For each card imprinted on Torn Lotus, add one mana of that card's color to your mana pool. Draw a card.

I changed Consume Anger's text to fix the problem Neppy brought up.

I also changed Consume Soul so that it basically looks like Quicksilver Elemental's activated ability stealing.
