Because in certain matchup where the jester cap effect is less optimal, the 5/3 power toughness can win you the game.

Just for discussion, in magic online classic format, Elves is a really popular choice, peoples have access to almost the same cards to build the deck and they have to face deck "similar" to the one played in Vintage. The biggest difference is the absence of Stax archetype.

I will post a decklist that seem to be the standard build everyone is using. Maybe its not optimal for vintage but maybe we can also get some idea that we can use too.

You can notice the absence of Pact in favor of Earthcraft and the addition of Squirrel Nest too. 

Also, there is Essence Warden added to the deck to combat Storm deck who want to kill with Tendrils.. i guess.

You forgot one.  Aurioath is the name i think.

Its oath with Auriok Salvager. You Oath a salvager and hopefully put a Spellbomb and Black Lotus or LED in graveyard, then combo.

About Curiosity.

What was great in UR Fish was Grim Lavamancer because he was an awsome Curiosity target. Now in UW version we have Meddling Mage who is a really bad curiosity target. Some ppl run Ninja of the deep hour and/or Voidmage Prodigy. Again, those are not great with Curiosity. Same thing for Spiketail Hatchling. That leave us with only Cloud of Faeries to become Curious. What we need for UW Fish is a great creature with evasion that can take the spot of Grim Lavamancer but without cutting the Meddling Mage who are essential to UW fish imo.

Flying Men? Naah.
Shadow creature? Didnt find any good one.
Waterfront Bouncer? not curious.
Serendib Efreet? I dont know.. i give up

First tournament of the year in Quebec, Canada, held at L'imaginaire in Quebec City and first tournament of the Quebec Vintage Championship too! For information on the Championship you can go visit http://www.mtgquebec.com, but its only in french! It was a tourney with 5 proxy allowed and with 77 players. It was a lot of fun and really good price too, an Unlimited Time Walk for the winner and an Alpha Berserk for ppl who didnt top8.

BTW you can see in the top 8 two version of a deck created in Montreal, Quebec by Lany Chabot Laroche, Bomberman. Its a really great deck with really good result in all tourney ppl play it. Give all the credit to Lany, he deserve it for his great finish and a really cool new deck that ppl should try!
