Won 2-1 against serracollector

Game1 (on the play): He mulls, tomb lotus Golem. He plays a land. Next turn, workshop golem and off to g2.

Game2 (on the draw): Kept a bad hand and paid for it with him going turn 2 jace via lotus. Should've mulled but drawing into a sphere, with a metamorph already in hand with a strip mine and 2 wastes was too tempting for me. Alas I kept on drawing more mana.

Game3 (on the play): Tomb into sphere. He goes land into lotus. I play workshop revoker, he thinks and lets it resolve, on lotus. He plays a land and go. I play a factory and try to drop a tangle wire but meets a steel sabotage, I attack. He drops another land puts mox into play. I drop golem and attack again, he eot claims my revoker. He uses lotus into Jace and bounces golem. I replay my golem, met a force of will and kill jace with factory. He drops 2nd Jace and fateseals me, leaving it (mox pearl). I play the pearl and drop a hellkite. He brainstorms and says go. I swing both hellkite and factory (just to be sure) at jace, I play another golem. He plays 3rd Jace hoping to draw into something but I have lethal on board (golem, hellkite pumped twice and factory to his 14 life).

Follow-up report from game with GI (I won 2-1)

Game 1 (on the play): Wasteland, mox, sphere of resistance. He goes land mox mox. I go city, revoker on mox emerald. He plays a land and a delver. I play workshop lodestone, he forces, I also waste his waste so he can't waste my shop, attack with revoker. Delver doesn't flip he attacks for 1. Play a factory, and play another revoker which meets a spell snare, attack again. Delver flips off misstep, swings for 3. I play metamorph copying revoker on his other moxen, attack. He draws and ends. I play a thorn, and attack with revoker, revoker and factory, he blocks a revoker and goes down to 9. He plays another delver, I swing with factory. He flips off vampiric tutor. I swing with factory he blocks with insect. He plays a land and passes. I swing and he blocks with snapcaster. Later I play a hellkite but he has a guilded drake. I play revoker on hellkite, and kuldotha forgemaster but he repeals the drake again, and steals forgemaster. I lose. I think I could've won if he didn't have the repeal with an activation from forgemaster.

Game 2 (on the play): Tomb, sphere. He goes land mox mox again. Factory, revoker, but he forces. He plays land and go. I play strip mine, play another revoker but he hyrkyll's, I strip his sea. He draws and passes. I play another factory, and lodestone. He drakes it. I play 3rd factory, another golem and swing with my drake. He draw-goes for a couple of turns while I drop revoker, sphere, chalice for 2 while swinging with drake. I drop my 4th factory and swing with everybody when he's down to 6, off to g3.

Game 3 (on the draw): He mulls, delta go. Workshop, trinisphere go. He plays another delta, go. Wasteland, golem go. Sea go. I play a thorn, he responds with hukyll's, play another workshop and play tangle wire (I misplayed by not dropping my mox). He plays delver. I drop tomb, play golem, metamorph golem, go. Delver flips off merchant scroll. Waste his untapped land, swing with 2 golems (he blocked 1), drop mox, trinisphere, sphere of resistance. He draw goes. I waste another land and dropped a new tangle wire and won from there.

@serracollector, any chance you can do mornings? 9pm EST is 9am for me and I always have classes from morning to the afternoon.

Game 1 (on the play): He mulls. I go turn 1 Trinisphere of Tomb and Sol Ring. He drops wasteland, pass. 2nd turn I get Lodestone and drop wasteland. On his turn he drops Tomb and Crucible, I metamorph it, and waste both his lands, and off to g2.

Game 2 (on the draw): He goes mox mox land chalice on 0, and on 1. I play tomb chalice on 1 (I had a Workshop and Tolarian in hand), he wastes tomb. I play wasteland and pass, he draws and passes as well. I play workshop, then Golem, he metamorphs it on his turn. I play another golem, drop tolarian and play tangle wire, and attack with the golem, he blocks, both die. He drops a workshop and plays his own golem. I tap wire,golem and chalice so i can go duplicant plus waste on his workshop. Next turn attack for 10, drop Revoker on a moxen. He drops a Revoker to block for one more turn then I win.

Pretty bad draws on his part.

Yup I totally understand. Haha I wasn't trying to be rude or anything. I'm sorry if it came off that way. 

Noted. I just thought that since we were the only ones playing the first round, it might influence the deck choice of my subsequent opponent since I'll be his first opponent. That's why I held off posting until after my match with GI.

Regarding the cage, I think its okay in the board. Against Dredge, Grafdigger's is so much stronger than Tormod's Crypt moreso when you combine a couple of spheres, he's gonna be locked out whereas Tormod's Crypt can be Ancient Grudged from the graveyard. GC - Chewers as answers as opposed to TC - Chewers and Grudges as answers. Also when you count it as 4 additional slots for Oath, that just seals it for me.

In that case I'd like to give this a try

Perhaps a 1-of to tutor for it? Well it can be sacced to Forgemaster too if it comes to it. Also, what happens if my opponent has a Cage in play, then I Forgemaster for Phyrexian Metamorph copying a Non-creature artifact, let's say a Tangle Wire (assuming I have 1 in play and the rest in the graveyard and that's my only way to win), would that play be legal?

I'm fairly new to these forums but I would like to open a discussion about this recent list which won a big event.

First off, I'm a Panther player. However, the recent shift in the meta makes Panthers (the card itself) not viable due to the rise of creatures that can just trade with it, and you end up losing that bargain (Panther being blocked by a Flashed Snapcaster for example). This deck basically drops the bad panthers, and with it gives up a little bit of Aggro, for some stability and late game bombs via Forgemaster. Due to the nature of Forgemasters, the deck is then forced to drop Null Rods and subsequently become much weaker to Null Rods as well (a 3/5 beater is nothing to laugh at though).

It would be awesome to hear from Mr. Forino, if he's on TMD. Most of my questions are aimed at his board though, such as why Tormod's Crypt and not Grafdigger's when it serves a dual purpose as it has some splash hate against Oath (Edited to add: NVM, forgot about the library to play aspect), and I'm also wondering about the Ensnaring Bridges as well.

Feel free to tell me I'm wrong if I am regarding my observations though.

Top 4'd a recent 16-man event with Cat Stax. Fairly standard list. Is this deck really dead? It's still pretty explosive granted I lost to a Bant deck in the top-4 (creatures being the in thing being the reason why some say Cat Stax is no longer viable)

Hi my name is Jumbo Poon and I'm a law school student from the Philippines. I've been playing magic since 4th ed (mostly casual with my brothers as I was only 7 years old then) and stopped playing after Mirrodin. Recently came back a couple of years ago, but I just started playing Vintage late last year. I'm playing Panther Stax now and I've top 4/8'd 2 of 3 events I participated in but I'm looking forward to moving to other shop variants such as Espresso and Martello (I loathe metalworker though, I don't know why).
