well annul is only good if you go first. otherwise it still doesn't stop trinsphere. h.recall end step is great and yeah i guess energy flux is the only thing. that and atrifact mutation should do the trick. any suggestions on playing something other than lavaman?

i've just been a fan of dyrad for ages, it comes down fast and grows to extreme proportions, only thing river boa has on it is evasion.
i played only 3 waste because i wanted a basic island. it's good cause it can't get wasted.
your point on ground seal is decent, i guess it stops welder. but also great against dragon combo. as you saw my SB did have 3 null rod and 2 artifact mutation, i found that null rod wasn't so flash as stax doesn't depend on it's moxen so much as the draw 7 stax does. artifact mutation would have been great if i could have drawn it.
i placed 4th overall, with a 3-1-1 record. would have been 4-1 if i had about 3 more minutes.
i learnt that at least 1 taiga is also needed, sometimes i wanted red and green mana and it wasn't available to me. cruicible was great on the day and i want more.(the card should so be restricted)
i found that lavaman was very substandard and another more effective creature could be used. i just don't know what.

Disclaimer: tournament in new zealand, no proxies, 24 player tournament only about 4-5 people had power.
I played in a type 1 tournament this weekend gone and came 4th. i played WTF/R and it was great all day except the last rnd where i had to play my friend with stax. here's my list
4 quirion dyrad (why would you play river boa over this guy) 4 spiketail hatchling 4 cloud of faeries 4 grim lavamancer
3 fire/ice 2 cruicible of worlds 4 curiosity 4 standstill 4 force of will 3 daze 1 stifle
2 faerie conclave 4 mishra's factory 3 wasteland 1 stripmine 1 island 4 flooded strands 4 tropical island 4 volcanic island
most of the cards were good on the day except, lavaman and daze to some extent. i wish i had the one gush in there and more cruicible. what creature could replace lavaman, i can't see playing 4 mox monkeys. goblin vandal??
rnd 1: played against growatog. my deck has more beats, more man-lands and i just drew better
rnd 2: against monoblack, discard, hippy, n.shade game 1 he wasn't in the game, game 2 he had like 3 nantuko shades and i won on 4 life...this was the only time lavaman was good the whole day.
rnd 3: don't know the offical name for the deck, but it's u/r/w has n.disks, lightning bolt, mana drain, force's, standstill, man-lands. this deck was trying to push shyt uphill against mine, cruicible owned him but the games too long and it was a draw with me having him cruicible locked him in the 3rd game.
rnd 4: sligh/red burn. was a push over. 6/6 dryad in game 1, faeries faeries chill in game 2.
rnd 5: played stax, fully powered except for twister and LoA. I wasn't even in it really, just got crushed as everything in his deck was like a threat and i only have 4 forces -_-
my sideboard wasn't really turned to this and i didn't have much to fight it off.
3 null rod 4 chill 3 pyroblast 2 hydroblast 1 stifle 2 artifact mutation
the deck seems really good against most decks, but gets hosed by stax. anything that can push this matchup into wtf's favour? i guess rack and ruin should have been in the board.
