Hey Sundering. u wrote P Everson, my names Barry... this tournament was fun. we need to have more people so we can get sanctioning! much to my dissmay, i will not be playing Ichorid at this coming weeks tournament unless my cards dont show up in the mail.  so i think that will make your sideboarding a little easier.

without chalice, you can just get raced by Tezzeret and TPS.

Agreed.  The point is to slow down Tez's (and TPS's) win condition/engine, not their hate.
[/quote]

ok, now i understand what he is talking about, with that said, i completely agree, but in this list i cant see where i can fit it into the main, chalice has been one of my favorite cards since mirrodins release. I would like to be able to play it, I know its to disrupt my opponent and slow him down, and since i have a lack of chalice in the main, my only hope is to race him.
4  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Scholar's Weekly Vintage Results Thread on: January 15, 2009, 07:49:33 pm
your right, i misunderstood what u meant about them racing me, i agree a well placed Crypt can be devastating, maybe i just havent played against enough people who can play the card against me correctly, i didnt mean to avoid your question at all, so my apologies for that. in my experiences with this deck, if my opponent is playing a fast combo deck and has a well placed crypt, it then comes down to the speed of the decks, and the skills of the players, meaning either one of us could make a game losing mistake, or a game winning play. maybe i am still misunderstanding your question, and if so, i apologize.
5  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Premium Article] The 2009 Players Guide to Vintage on: January 15, 2009, 07:44:59 pm
when talking about the Ichorid list and gameplan, how come you didnt Include both Mana Ichorid, and manaless? i think that the Mana Version is alot stronger then the manaless, although more affected by hate cards.

ok, so i re-read this and realized what i said was backwards. what i meant was the Mana Version is alot faster, but more affected by hate then the manaless version.

I admit im not good with words or putting my ideas on paper...or in text for that matter, so i apologize if this doesnt make sense to some.
6  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Scholar's Weekly Vintage Results Thread on: January 15, 2009, 07:23:24 pm
CHalice of the void is amazing, i admit this, but i can get around crypt easily, ive only had 1 situation where chalice would e useful, and i am usually able to combo off before my opponent has the chance to search it out, and i feel running it in the board is pointless, cause 95% of the time, Ichorid wins game 1, so having it in game 2 is less effective then having Pithing needle...cause i wont be able to play it before they already have a crypt in play. and having been playing this deck for over a year and a half straight i am very comfortable playing without chalice..

as for Revielark....ive had to many situations where E truth just ruins my day, so being able to get back a revielark, and sack it to dread return or a cabal therapy to get back a HUGE grave troll and a zealot to win through E truth is to useful. not to mention that in the early game he alows you to create more Zombies then u would normally be able to, and if you have him in play with a cabal therapy in the yard, he creates a 2 for 1 effect off a Dread Return. allowing u to get back Cephalid Sage, and another useful Creature. ive been running him since he was created and i havent been dissapointed by him yet.

Eric, thanks for the comments on the list...i think i might remove the 3rd Gemstone mine to put in the 3rd fatesticher, i always have a large amount of mana sources with this list, so i dont feel cutting a land would hurt me that much.? any thoughts on the choice?

16  Eternal Formats / Creative / need a deck for an unknown meta on: December 07, 2004, 07:24:35 am
I was thinking about droping the Blue for a little more Red but I didnt know if it was a wise idea.Plus I didnt know what cards to put in its place,I was think of stuff like firery temper, another anger???any ideas?

"I was think of stuff"? That's awful, awful grammar. Also, words need to be separated by *spaces* and not just punctuation marks. This post also has very little to say. You can't get feedback from people unless you give them enough information. This post, though, does not have anywhere near enough information to generate useful responses.

I know this is a really old thread but i was wondering if this could be a contender again?Any info would be helpful!

Do not bump eight month old threads--even your own. Especially do not bump terrible old threads like this one. Most especially do not bump terrible old threads like this one with a one-line, content free post that has atrocious punctuation and other mistakes.

1. Writing Skills

Sometimes people forget that this is a message board and not IRC or AIM. We certainly understand that many of the users on TMD are from foreign countries and English is not their first language. The easiest way to let us know this is to put it in the "Location" entry in your TMD profile, though you can also mention it in the text of your post. This will allow us to take the most appropriate action.

Obviously no one is perfect. If you make the occasional error it isn't a problem; even the angelic and polite TMD staff is not infallible. But please make an effort.

4. Blatant Ignorance

We don't want to invoke this one too often, but sometimes, to be honest, your post is just not up to par. The Mana Drain is a place for the most advanced Type One deckbuilding on any public forum available. One of the fundamental assumptions is that you have some knowledge of the format's current state (perhaps you found the site through StarCity articles) and because of this will make intelligent suggestions and ask reasonable questions.

If you don't show us some minimal understanding, we'll quite possibly lock your thread. If this happens, try reading up on the StarCity archives of JP Meyer and Steve Menendian (heck, even me, Philip Stanton, if you want). Or just lurk for a while and read what people post, especially in the closed Type One forum. After a week or so, you ought to have a much better idea of what the TMD consensus is on things, which will make your next thread much better.

Post removed. Read the FAQ.

Okay I havent been putting much for a discussion up in the thread(I know-bad grammer)=broken hand, and for that I am sorry but from all the reading I have done since I have been back in the states on the deck I have realized that the better version of the deck for a control metagame is the u/r version due to the mana stability and there are more answers in the control matchup than there are with the u/r/w version and there are less dead cards(swords).Any how I will post my decklist and would like to hear any comments on the way the list is setup.

Landstill//

Can i do this....No!!!!//
4-force of will
4-mana drain
4-stifle
3-misderection

How did that get into play?//
4-fire/ice
3-chain of vapor
4-nevinrryals disk

I need more cards//
4-standstill
1-ancestral recall
1-timewalk

stuff//
1-mox sapphire
1-mox ruby

land//
1-library of alexandria
1-strip mine
4-wasteland
4-mishras factory
3-flooded strand
4-volcanic island
5-island
4-faerie conclave

Okay I think that stifle is gold and 4 is a great number but I think I should take 1 out and put the fourth chain of vapor back in the deck, but i dont know if that would be good in a control metagame or an aggro metagame??

Since my metagame is mostly control and since stifling those fetchlands are gold against control i think that the 4 stifles will stay but i would like to know your thoughts.
20  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / re: on: May 30, 2004, 02:03:34 pm
Ok when I posted this list I did not mention my meta which was a mistake but what I run into in my metagame is just a bunch of control like germbus, hulk,Gat,and lots of other random decks that you see everywhere like sui, sligh, stompy of the oshuwa kind and random rogue decks like reaplace and some type2 control crap.I think this is normal of most new england metagames from what I have seen in the past but as of lately the meta game has turned into fcg.meta and i really need help figuring out how to build my MD an SB to adjust to said decks.Oh and i almost never see combo at all(draw7,dragon,belcher,etc).
21  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / re: on: May 29, 2004, 02:08:03 pm
ok i have changed the decklist again and would like to know your thoughts.better, worse??
22  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / re: on: May 28, 2004, 03:43:45 pm
okay i have updated the deck and please tell me what you think.
23  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Need help with a sideboard for u/r landstill!! on: May 28, 2004, 03:16:51 pm
Okay let me first appolagize for the bad typing due to a broken hand and not sleeping very much(havent slept in 3 days). Sad
I have just recently built a u/r landstill deck and I need help with a sideboard and I also could use any info on the deck(good matchups, bad matchups, etc). I am not entirely sure how this deck plays out cause i am new at control but as far as I can figure you just try to keep stuff off the board and counter vital spells that could really ruin someones day.Ok now that part I get but the part I dont get is when do you start to go on the offensive and start beating with your manlands.I know that once you have board control it should be ok to start beating but I always tap out to attack and what i wanted to know is if thats the right play or should i just attack with 1 man land a turn untill I have enough mana stability to attack with more or should i just go for the throat from the start??

Anyway let me post my decklist and i hope to get some responses.

counters//
4-force of will
4-mana drain
3-misderection(foil)
3-stifle(foil)
draw//
4-standstill(3 foil,1azn foil)
1-ancestral recall
1-timewalk
utility//
1-teferis response
4-fire/ice(normal Crying or Very sad )
3-chain of vapor(normal Crying or Very sad )
4-disk(bb,azn,signed)
mana//
1-mox sapphire
1-mox ruby
1-library of alexandria
1-strip mine
4-wasteland(foil)
4-mishras factory(spring pic)
4-faerie conclaves(foil)
5-beta island
4-volcanic island
3-flooded strand(foil)

Ok Ithought about putting  LOA in the missing slot but that would make 28 mana sources which seemed like alot to me but i do wanna run the Loa but I need help figuring out what to cut??

anyway I have done a listtle testing and I have a bad matchup against food chain goblins 30/70 and the control match seems more in my favor like 60/40 but thats from minimal testing and I am not sure about the combo match but thats why i put this list up here and posted this thread(to get help on how to play this deck and all of its good, bad matchups)

And before you say to use the search for info on this deck I already have and most of the info I got was on gay red and fish and I feel these are totaly different decks that may play out the same but I want info on landstill and not those decks so I had to post this thread.

oh and here is the temporary sideboard that i need help with

3-reb
2-slice and dice
2-maze of ith
2-misderection
1-chain of vapor
1-dust bowl
2-beb
2-tormods crypt

I feel that this sideboard deffinetlly needs to be changed but since I am not sure what the good and bad mathups for this deck is I dont know how to make a SB for this deck so this is where I need the most help!![/b]
24  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / just a price question?? on: May 26, 2004, 05:22:30 pm

25  Vintage Community Discussion / Card Creation Forum / A red tutor of sort's on: May 20, 2004, 03:12:42 pm
Okay it has always bothered me that every color but red got a tutor of some kind and even green got worldly tutor(even if it does suck). What I have done is try to create a decent tutor card for red with enough drawbacks to maybe make it a decent card.

name needed   [1]

Instant/sorcery

search you library for a card and reveal it and put that card in your hand, Then remove all other copys of that card from your deck from the game.
You lose 3 life.
Target opponent gains 3 life.
You may not play the revealed card in the turn you played-nameless card-

EDIT:changed mana symbols due to forum rules.
26  Vintage Community Discussion / Rules Q&A / workshop and daze question? on: May 11, 2004, 06:24:53 pm
Ok this came up at a tourny the other day when I was playing landstill against a workshop deck(slaver i think..).Well he tapped 2 workshops to play memory jar and i countered with a daze and said that he can use the 1 extra workshop mana to counter the daze effect since daze says pay an extra {1} which the judge ruled that this works cause the card says pay {1} which he said was an extra {1} to the casting cost and in my opinion that judge was wrond but i just wanted to know cause thats what is was ruled.
                             thanks
                                   slighguy.

ps. I know it doesnt work but i just wanted to know your answers.

Hi i have just had something really bad happen in my family(my dad past away)and i need to help pay for the funeral cause he had no insurance and I was wondering if there were any really good decks that do not require the full set of power 9?If somebody could help me with this I would be really grateful and it would really help.I do have a full set of power minus a pearl(it got stolen) but I do have a set of workshops and I would also like to know a good place that I could sell these cause I cant use ebay for selling as for I do not have a credit card to put on there file.

thank you for your help in advance.
                                            slighguy.

PS. pm me if you have any ideas as to where I can sell them.

EDIT:If this does not belong here i am sorry delete if you must.

EDIT:I would like to say thanks to who ever unlocked this thread cause any and all feedback will help out right now as my family is in debt cause of the lack of insurance.
