Jon wins the tournament on account of deck name. Wink

Congrats to Rob and the rest of the top 8!

Hurkyl's Recall plz reprint. I'd love to be able to play Burning Long, but I'm not super keen on dropping $150 on a playset of Hurkyl's, of all things!

Completely agree. I'm an MTGO newbie, so it's super weird to open a Library of Alexandria, thinking "Oh sweet!", only to look the card up and see it's worth just a few tickets…  Razz

Just got myself fully powered this morning, but still missing a bunch of staples to have any competitive decks put together (didn't really own any cards before Vintage Masters). Wasteland… plz reprint. Rolling Eyes

They also have a livestream. Elimination rounds are going on now. http://www.twitch.tv/talesofadventure

EDIT:

Michael Cutrone (Esper Deathblade) beats Gerard Fabiano (BUG) in the finals.

Not many people know that the shop also has a license to sell alcohol, here is the selection we currently have Smile
That is so awesome. Smile

Won't be able to make this, unfortunately. Still too much packing to be done. Neutral

I'll pray for rain so that my family reunion gets pushed to Sunday. Smile
10  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: The Players Guild - Vintage - Now a Mox Event - July 6, 2013 on: July 05, 2013, 10:28:48 pm
I'm bringing three others with me. Looking forward to a fun day.
11  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: ***June 29th, Elmira, New York, Mythic Games Vintage tournament*** on: June 24, 2013, 07:34:21 am
I'm planning on coming to this. I haven't been up there for a Legacy tournament in months (because there's almost always been a Vintage event the same day), so I'm very much looking forward to coming up and playing Vintage. Smile
12  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: The Players Guild - Vintage - Big Store Credit Event - July 6, 2013 on: June 21, 2013, 08:20:45 pm
I'll be there, no doubt. Will be my last one for a little while. Crying or Very sad

I'll be there. Will be up nice and early to carpool over with Shawn Griffiths and Lance Ballester. TDG events are always a (long trip, but) fun day.

Nice report; thank you for writing it. It's good to hear that (at least) two Shops players won Shops (Rob & yourself). Smile
15  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: Vintage Champs comes to Philadelphia - November 1st-3rd, 2013 - Top Deck Games! on: June 01, 2013, 10:09:50 am
Irony that it's only a drive away for me now, but will be a plane ride away for me come November. Regardless, I'll definitely be there for both days. Looking forward to it.
16  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: The Players Guild - Big Store Credit Event - June 1, 2013 on: May 27, 2013, 10:11:58 pm
As much as I would like to make it, I have plans for a friend's birthday party down in York later in the day. I was trying to think of ways I may be able to do both, but I don't think it'll work. Neutral
17  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Legendary Rule Change 23rd May 2013 on: May 27, 2013, 10:08:52 pm
I somewhat regret selling my Geists with this new change. I was planning on waiting until they had rotated out of Standard and picking them back up on the cheap. With these new rules (plus Modern, etc.), I'm unsure as to how much Geist may fall in price once it's no longer Standard-legal.

Then there's my playset of foil (& artist signed) Gaea's Cradle that I'd sold off several months ago… but I made so much value on them already, I'm happy. (I bought the playset for $90 back in 2009…)
18  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Fake Power on Ebay on: May 24, 2013, 08:21:48 am
That same seller had three Beta Swords to Plowshares listed later last week, as well. Glad I didn't bite on them. (Not that they were necessarily fake, but after seeing this, I'd rather not take my chances.)

Josh,

Congratulations on the finish. Would you be able to recall more detail on your match against Justin? I'm curious. Smile

Due to work that was just thrown my way earlier today, I have to cancel my plans of traveling over for this. Crying or Very sad Good luck to everyone going. I'm looking forward to the results.
21  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: [Top Deck Games] 5.11.13 - $2000 Vintage Event - Eternal Series & NYSE Qualifier on: May 01, 2013, 09:31:38 pm
I'll tell you exactly what's holding attendance back...there are so many events in the NJ PA NY area we can literally play in a power event every single weekend of a month. So many stores and so many TO's so attendance gets watered down among them because people can chose which event suites their schedule. Where as a few years ago if you wanted to play vintage it was once a month and you made sure you changed your plans to get out and play vintage. The scene is watered down bc too many events/TO's.

Completely agree. I think it's a great problem to have — I typically go to three events each month (Bloomsburg, Lancaster, Westmont). I love it, but I also recognize that with more events, there is a segment of players that get a bit more choosy about which events they attend. With so many Vintage events a month, they have the luxury to be choosy. (With the choosers also comes, of course, the diehards, who are at every event regardless. Smile)

There are also Vintage players who are invested in other formats, as well. Some weekends have another great, non-Vintage tournament the same day a Vintage tournament is. Can't really help that. The northeast just has a ton of great events in general.  Cool
22  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: The Players Guild - Credit and N.Y.S.E. Open Qualifier - May 4,2013 on: May 01, 2013, 11:10:27 am
Yeah, I imagine there won't be much innovation (but I'm hoping there will be). It being the first weekend, people too scared to try something different, and/or a lack of testing to feel confident in changing things. Still, it will be cool if we do end up seeing something new.
23  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: The Players Guild - Credit and N.Y.S.E. Open Qualifier - May 4,2013 on: May 01, 2013, 08:23:03 am
Another thing that will make this event so cool is the fact that it will be one of the first Vintage tournaments around where not only Dragon's Maze is legal, but Regrowth is unrestricted. It will be interesting to see how people react to these changes!
24  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: MVPLS Vintage Event 5-25-13 on: May 01, 2013, 08:16:25 am
I was worried this was going to be the weekend before (May 18th). My sister's college graduation ceremony is that day. With it being on the 25th, I should be there. Smile

Yeah, it's quite the drive. I just realized that it's Memorial Day weekend, as well. Might be a few more cars on the road for that. Smile
26  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: [BOSTON] N.Y.S.E Open Qualifier 5/26/13 on: April 24, 2013, 10:07:57 pm
Dang. Looks like a nice event.

Anyone in PA want to consider making it up there for this? Smile

I plan on being there. Vintage an hour away + Quaker Steak & Lube = No-brainer.

30  Eternal Formats / General Strategy Discussion / Re: Sin Collector on: April 09, 2013, 10:37:07 am
Smile  I was thinking along the lines of grabbing a Balance, Pyroclasm, Supreme Verdict or other board sweeper held in hand until the right moment for maximum impact.  Also, I was thinking of Grixis where you could open with Cavern, Hierarch and play this turn 2 to preempt a Tinker, tutor, Bolt, or Time Walk.  Then you know how to sequence your next plays with the information gained.  An uncounterable Duress is obnoxious.  And anything that can get you 2 for 1 is worth looking at closely.

Good points. (I was being mostly facetious with that line, after our match Saturday. Smile) It's not quite Duress (can't grab Jace, can't grab EE), but, as you say, the information gained is worthwhile. I'm not familiar enough with the archetype, so I wonder: what do you think could be cut in order to fit this?
