Mostly did it because I enjoy taking insane bets though.

We must talk at the next event.....

SLAUGHTER SMURFS!
5  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: American BoM Style Event/Prize Support on: July 27, 2012, 06:05:39 pm
The church in Edison is probably the best bet.  They have had many many MTG tournaments there over the years.

I think $50+ is more than reasonable.  You need to get people's attention who don't already play Vintage and/or live in the Northeast.  Having a relatively low cost to get into a deck combined with very large prize support is certainly a way to do that.  Making it an entire weekend might help get people who don't want to fly in just for one day.

If its not obvious I'm totally in.  I also live under your bed......

Soooo....

Have decided to try and make a last minute attempt to go to GenCon.  Travel to and from Indy is covered.  I just need some roommates.  Anyone still have a spot or room for one more?
7  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: July NEV Series Top 8 Decklists and Metagame Breakdown on: July 27, 2012, 11:10:57 am
So uh Mr. Bliffert. Care to explain yourself? This is Vintage, not Legacy. I'll countenance no mono-colored aggro strategies, thank you.
I don't understand people's preference for naming and publishing their decks with names that are not easily recognizable and identifiable.

Yeah, its super cute to call decks goofy names, for instance, he could have called his Merfolk deck:  'Slaughter Smurfs,' or 'Island-Walk This Way,' both of which are equally awful names to call decks.  It is annoying to me when I have to read the entire deck list just to see what archetype people are playing, because it isn't identifiable by its name alone.  It's inefficient and it wastes everybody's time.

Sad are the days when calling a Fish deck Fish isn't descriptive enough.  What actually wastes time is posts like this complaining about deck names.  It is excusable because you brought us "Slaughter Smurfs" which is the best piece of text I've read in awhile.

This deck was awesome for the event.  With that said I don't know how good it will be going forward, but I'd probably play it in Legacy and just change a few cards Razz

Also apologies to everyone who stayed and watched the finals match where I punted over and over and over again in game 1 and then kept the worst possible hand in game 2 even when Nick told me to mulligan.

Grats to all of the top 8 and Nick on the win.  Next time I'll get you Smile

I hope a certain sheet was grabbed this weekend.  Thanks in advance Nick!

Anyone who defines "Red Deck Wins" as anything but an aggro deck is clearly wrong...   Wink
10  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Top Deck Games June NEV Series TO Report on: June 20, 2012, 03:25:49 pm
Going "aggro" doesn't count when you take all the turns to play out your entire deck AND then Time Walk to attack with all your 2 power guys.

Grats on the win Justin and to the rest of the top 8!  See everyone in NY!

Same, wish I could have been there as well.  I think next month is a definite for me.

Grats Mike and the rest of the Top 8!  Shardless Agent gets there!
12  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: June 16th NEV Series for $1,000 in prizes at Top Deck Games on: May 23, 2012, 04:46:55 pm
Okay back on point!  I'll be there and I'm bringing a car full as always!  Five Vintage events in one month!  It feels like Christmas!
13  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: GRUDGE MATCH, NY - NEV SERIES - 5.5.12 on: April 20, 2012, 11:11:33 pm
Got a full car coming up for this one.  We at Team Dead Money are looking to upgrade our 2nd place finish (at last Grudge Match) to 1st.

Given these results, maybe no one will be on shops for the next NEV...

I told them all to run Rituals.  Don't worry, you're safe...

Something tells me to not believe you...

All these "terrible" decks made for a very fun tournament and a great top 8 to watch.  I can't be the only one that is sick of watching Shops mirrors.

Maybe next time I can dodge Runechanter's Pike and join you for a sandwich when I ID into top 8....

Damn Runechanter's Pike!

Grats on your finish.

20  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Mark's Comics, 2/4 Mox Pearl Tournament Official Report on: February 16, 2012, 11:51:19 am
There were 26 or 27 players, I'm not sure.

That sounds right.  I remember that 7 players were on shops and it was the most represented archetype.
21  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: Mark's Comics, 2/4 Mox Pearl Tournament Official Report on: February 15, 2012, 02:23:44 am
I'd saying playing a different deck in all five rounds of the swiss and then another different deck in top 8 is pretty diverse.
22  Eternal Formats / Northeast U.S. / Re: Northeast Vintage Series - GRUDGE MATCH IV @ TDG Winter Open - Feb 11th! on: February 10, 2012, 10:52:14 pm
