1  Eternal Formats / Creative / What in your opinion is the strongest budget aggro deck? on: February 08, 2005, 03:43:40 pm
i prefer UG Madness over FCG because of the FoW in the UG Madness, and the possibility to play B2B and usually null rod, more broken in Madness than in FCG (Crypt, Chrome, sol ring...)
2  Eternal Formats / Creative / Worldgorger/Animate Dead combo on: January 20, 2005, 05:26:15 pm
you can play caller of the claw, and with only one copy of caller or ambassador you can kill him, you animate ambassador and you use its abilty against the opponent, if he or she plays blessing, play laquatus ability on you until you reveal the caller, then use the animate on caller for the tokens, a great number of tokens.
3  Eternal Formats / Creative / [Deck] Oath - Slaver on: January 20, 2005, 12:28:15 pm
thanks to you, i'll play a possesed portal, and  a DSC rather than a bringer. I choose this deck because i think that is better than Oath against combo, and jewelry i know that it's neccesary, but i only have a Sol Ring Sad (i'm going to buy Mana Crypt, but i haven't got other jewelry) But for 5proxy tournaments i play it surely. I think that 4 slaver is too much. With 2 works well. Now, myversion looks like this:

Mana Base (25)

2x Tropical Island
4x Polluted Delta
3x Island
4x Wasteland
R Strip Mine
4x Forbidden Orchard
6x SoLoMoXeN(5 Moxen 1 Sol Ring)

Combo (10)

4x Oath of Druids
1x Bringer of the White Dawn
2x Mindslaver
1x Possesed Portal
1x Krosan Reclamation

Draw Engine & Tutors (14)

4x AK
4x Intuition
1x Tinker
1x Mystical Tutor
4x Brainstorm

Counterspells (12)

4x FoW
4x Mana Drain
4x Mana Leak

SB:

3x Tormod's Crypt
3x BeB
2x Echoing Truth
3x Naturalize
3x Energy Flux
1x Platinum Angel

Thanks to all
4  Eternal Formats / Creative / [Deck] Oath - Slaver on: January 19, 2005, 06:11:16 pm
Hi guys,
I've been testing a deck different than other Oath decks: it works with Bringer of the White Dawn and Mindslaver. The reason: I'm bored of playing against Oath with the Angel configuration, and this version works pretty good against combo, so I decided to test it. I post it here cause I think that the ManaDrainers can help me with this deck:

Mana Base (22)

4x Tropical Island
4x Polluted Delta
5x Island
4x Wasteland
R Strip Mine
4x Forbidden Orchard

Combo (10)

4x Oath of Druids
2x Bringer of the White Dawn
2x Mindslaver
1x Jester's Cap
1x Krosan Reclamation

Draw Engine & Tutors (16)

4x AK
4x Intuition
2x Impulse
4x Brainstorm
2x Cunning Wish

Counterspells (12)

4x FoW
4x Mana Drain
4x Mana Leak

SB:

2x Tormod's Crypt
2x BeB
2x Echoing Truth
1x Hurkyl's Recall
1x Oxidize
3x Naturalize
3x Energy Flux
1x Platinum Angel

Card Choices:

4x Tropical Island: Fast mana of both colors, i run always 4, some people run only 2 in oath or madness, but i prefer this.
Strip Set: You may have to deal with Mishra's Workshop or Bazaar of Baghdad, and this is the best way of do this.
4x Polluted Delta: With this, you may fetch Islands if you are playing against a deck with lots of wastelands and LD spells, or you may fetch tropical island to play oath.
Basic Islands: I play 5 basic islands, a good number to fight against opposing wastelands.
4x Forbidden Orchard: With this land, you may activate the Oath against Landstill or decks like that, and it gives you mana of any color (sometimes you may play bringers with this...  Confused )

Combo

4x Oath: Obvious. The key of the deck. It searches for the bringers to combo out the opponent
2x Bringer of the White Dawn: I play 2 rather than 1 because sometimes with 1 activation of the Oath you don't throw slaver, and with 2 you may use jester's cap a lot of time too.
2x Mindslaver: The key against a lot of decks, when we oath up a bringer and the next turn we bring the slaver, opponent will concede you cause you may play slaver indefinitely.
1x Jester's Cap: This is my personal tech, and it works very well against decks like Meandeck Oath or Tendrils based combos, you remove their win conditions and you have only to oath a bringer and kill them.
1x Krosan Reclamation: Sometimes you have to oath another time after the 2nd Bringer to find the slaver, and i use it for survive a few turns before die.

 Draw Engine & Tutors:

4x AK: This is our 1st Draw Engine, It has a lot of synergy with oath and intuition.
4x Intuition: With this you fetch oath, AK or something that you need.
4x Brainstorm: When you are looking for an oath or a FoW, Brainstorm is a very good card that may leave Bringers on top for after shuffle with a polluted delta or an intuition.
2x Cunning Wish: The Key against Oath, when he or she is a slave for you, you may play the cunning wish and bounce his or her creatures to the hand and atk with the bringers.
2x Impulse: Search for the oath or the orchard is its function.

Counterspells:

4x Force Of Will: To protect a turn 2 Oath or against 1st Turn combos.
4x Mana Drain: Acceleration for the intuitions o for use the slaver until you have 4 mana.
4x Counterspell: I play this rather than Mana Leak cause Leak is played cause you may play it in the first turn (mana+mox = leak), but in this deck that there aren't any moxen, i like more counterspell.

SB:

2x Tormod's Crypt: Works well against a couple of decks, i run this cause i can't play seal of ground  Mad
2x BeB: Fight against Welder is the main function.
2x Echoing Truth: It's for the Oath mirror or against 4CC (decree tokens)
3x Energy Flux: I hate Stax.
3x Naturalize: Good against too many decks
1x Platinum Angel: Against Oath Mirror or combo decks
Oxidize, Hurkyl's Recall: Wishable targets for all moments

This is the deck that i'm working in, please help me Smile

5  Eternal Formats / Creative / [Deck] Budget UG madness on: January 18, 2005, 12:47:48 pm
if in my version i play waterfront bouncers MD, i'll drop wonders in SB, but here there isn't a lot of aggro deck, and usually you win, you have bigger beats and draw engine and counterspells (i tested against FCG, RG Beats and Sligh, and with BeB you win easily)
6  Eternal Formats / Creative / [Deck] Budget UG madness on: January 16, 2005, 01:07:57 pm
gush is better than you think, i often use it like a surprise: you attack with a wild mongrel, and if it's not blocked (no blockers, wonder), you may play gush and kill him or her, it's 4 cards more in hand, and 4 damage more... but maybe i will change it... 1 deep analysis seems the best option. With 4 Tropical Island the B2B MD works very well, i run 8 basic lands (you run 9) and you may play with no fear of Mana Drains (cause he or she will be tapped). Yeah, fetchs are good for brainstorm, but i feel good with 4 fetches, i don't add more.
7  Eternal Formats / Creative / [Deck] Budget UG madness on: January 16, 2005, 12:36:03 pm
I've played UG Madnesss a few time and I play this deck:

Creatures:

4x Wild Mongrel
4x Aquamoeba
4x Basking Rootwalla
4x Arrogant Wurm
2x Wonder (maybe 2x Waterfront Bouncer)

Draw Engine:

4x Brainstorm
2x Deep Analysis
1x Gush

Countermagic:

4x Force of Will
4x Circular Logic

Mana Denial:

3x Back To Basics
3x Null Rod
4x Wasteland
Strip Mine

Mana Base:

4x Tropical Island
3x Polluted Delta
1x Windswept Heath
4x Island
4x Forest

I run only 4 fetch lands because here (in Spain) there isn't much nonbasic land hate, and you want always Tropical Island in your board, but if you are going by the Back To Basics plan (winning destroying the mana base of your opponent) you may fetch a basic land, and because you will need more U mana than G(only for creatures), there are 3 polluted delta and 1 windswept heath. I think that Energy Flux (in my meta) isn't necesary, but i run null rod for the mana denial plan. I have 3 Energy Flux in my SB, and maybe I will add 2 annul SB. I don't use curiosity because i don't need more cards and the slots are very limited, the only thing that maybe out are wonders, and they will be replaced by waterfront bouncers. I run 4 arrogant wurm cause you often prefer to play a 4/4 trample for beat opponent than the flashback in early game, i use flashbacks in turn 4+. Stifle is a meta-call. It seems to me each day worse. I don't have any stifle in the SB. I use against Storm Combo Arcane Laboratory, wich is good against FCG.

PD: Excuse my english but i'm spanish and i don't know much.
8  Eternal Formats / Creative / Thoughts on my Trix deck on: January 11, 2005, 01:08:36 pm
i have a friend with a trix deck with rectors, and the splash is very useful, because you may run StP, balance in the SB (i don't like it maindeck) and cards like abeyance against control or something like that
9  Eternal Formats / Creative / brokenfinnity on: January 11, 2005, 01:01:02 pm
Phyrexian Walker seems too bad, and look for a Type One Affinity post that it's in this forum, it's not allowed post another topic for a thread if there is already one.
10  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [article]out of the CAB test-pits on: January 11, 2005, 12:32:59 pm
thanks for the explanation, i will test and i will comment you all that i'll find about the deck and some cards useless and better choices Wink
11  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [article]out of the CAB test-pits on: January 09, 2005, 03:38:39 pm
congratulations for the article, it explains very good why do you run some cards over than, for example, mind twist. I've read that, and, if you know that in your current meta will be a lot of StP, will you run another win condition?? in that case, what will you run?
12  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [article]out of the CAB test-pits on: January 09, 2005, 11:21:35 am
excuse my english but im spanish and i dont know much english. I think that only 1 DSC for tinker and the decree in the SB aren't enought win conditions. i run platinum angel for more win conditions (over sundering titan, because you have a lot of dual lands). BUt the deck seems consistent and it's very good to me. Byez.
13  Eternal Formats / Creative / [Budget] R/G Welder-Survival on: November 30, 2004, 12:30:16 pm
i've played with you in the last spanish tournament (Navalmoral). I'm the man of the madness at first round. Your deck seems me some weak against control, and with xantid swarm you will have some chance to win. I won't change it. And about fire/ice, keep it in the SB, and remove chalice of the void, and put some pirostatic pillars against combo. You may run Blood Moon in the MD cause here we play a lot of nonbasic lands.
14  Eternal Formats / Creative / TPS the evolution on: November 25, 2004, 12:21:11 pm
And if you say "Spirit" with the plague against oath, you will win 'cause they can't put into play the spirits tokens ^^
15  Eternal Formats / Creative / Mono Blue Fish to beat Oath/Doomsday on: November 18, 2004, 05:47:45 pm
StP is the best option vs oath, and seal of cleansing is a very good card against workshop based decks and oath... vs Doomsday, with W you gain meddling mage, saying doomsday you will win
16  Eternal Formats / Creative / [Budget Deck] MonoG Land Destruction. Feedback wanted! on: November 18, 2004, 05:40:53 pm
terravore isnt a good option, cause you will play at 5th turn, after a winter grasp and a termokarst for example, and in turn 5th there's a lot of creatures better than terravore... you may play ravenous baloth, and other creature better than troll ascetic...  the mana curve, a pillar of magic, remember it ^^
17  Eternal Formats / Creative / [Deck] Unpowered Oath on: November 18, 2004, 05:19:38 pm
you won't use crucible of worlds in a deck that's always recycling its graveyard with the blessing... i run no treetop village in my deck:

4 Polluted Delta
4 Forbidden Orchard
6 Island
4 Wasteland
1 Strip Mine
4 Tropical Island

4 Oath of druids
1 Akroma
1 SOTN
1 Gaea's Blessing

1 Sol Ring
2 Intuition
4 FoW
4 Counterspell (no money ^^)
4 AK
4 Brainstorm
2 Impulse
3 Cunning Wish
4 Mana Leak (A great card)
2 Misdirection

SB:

3 Naturalize
3 Ground Seal
1 Hurkyl's Recall
1 Platinum Angel
1 Pristine Angel
1 Fact or Fiction
2 BEB
1 Echoing Truth

I play UG version cause my meta is full of wastelands and B2B, and i want to run it in my SB, someone can help me??
