Yesterday I won a MWS Leage with it so a few things. I just used a version without white and green instead
Maineck I only needed 1 Sundering titan 1 Platinum Angel as creatures. I also run 2 Mindslaver as win conditions. With 4 gift 1 Ancient Ruins and life from the loam they are enought. You need EE, but white drop of honey is also a good option. Krosan Grips are good against flow rock and counterbalance decks, so you need a few on your sb. I also runned Triskelions and Razormare Masticore in my sb. Repeal has proved his slot on the main (x3). So indeed, my boros matchup with 2EE maindeck, along with 3 repeals its not so hard. You can gain tempo untill you gift for a 7/10 or Slaver them. If you every time you Gift put a moment pace over there, you should have enought time to set up the mana to win. Post Sb, is easier with chaizes, and big robots.

But game 2 your opponent will bring in cards from his sideboard that you should Fow.
If your oponents do it, just replace the xantids and other green cards for fows
If it doesnt, go for the Xantid&duress route
Thats why Fow is in your Sb, to kill the answers that your oponent will be bringing in

Ramon, First of all don´t use Spanish expresions like the laught "jajajaja" because this is an English forum
Also, Running TimeWarp and Isocron´s scepter, I wonder how do you get serius results, what do you mean with serius?
This is Open Vintage, no casual forums, you aren´t playing CS, you are playing Scepter.deck with welders.... please, ask Brian Demars or someone else about CS and read the post, you will learn a lot of things of Control Slaver or why Isocron Scepter is unplayable

The RR or RRR of Spree is not a problem with Long, is a 5c mana base.
Spheree is good enough to be in SB, you need a little more backup apart from hurkyls.
I´ve tested Grimlong for a time and I always have been pleased with Spree
But, Grimlong and belcher are two diferents decks, Belcher is good against stax beacouse of welder, if they arent playing rods, the matchup is a lot easier, if not things become a bit harder. With long, renember that are many look components that do shit against you, like Crucible, in fact, uba into play makes every brainstorm ancestral recall.
My advice is that if you are playing grimlong, play this on your Sb against Stax: 3Hurkyls Recall(1maindeck),2Esg(2maindeck)and 3Spree.
Also, Grimlong has some metagame Slots, if you know Stax is predominant in bcn, just cut the Xantid for another hurkyls and so

I'm not sure why people are saying IT just can't beat drains. Slaver is a favorable matchup, and I'll stand by that statement. I went 1-3 vs. slaver in Richmond, largely because of bad luck. Here is what happened in the 7 games I lost to slaver during the weekend.
3 games turn 3 slaver 2 via mana screw 1 via TFK into the absolute balls (DT, Lotus, and land) 1 he had answers to my business spells and then I lost
With Grimlong, i dont think your oponent would have had 3 turns Anywais, agains stax Grimlong has 3shatering sphree and 4hurklys&esg, that most of the times is enought

This is the worst card ever, with grimlong you tutor up a lotus, yagw, desire, any restricted car, tutors fetchs cards that you need, if you already got the card, why you need another copy? also, if you search darkritual you dont add mana, so is worst card ever
Also, is circustancial, most of the times it will be a crap
While your input is welcome, please do take care to spellcheck your post before you click the button. -Kowal[/color]

Eternal Formats / Creative / Grimlong Vs IT, whats the better choice?
|
on: March 26, 2006, 04:23:54 pm

In Richmond, we saw 2 combo decks placing top8, the first one whas Intuition Tendrils, the Gws secret deck that top4´ed both days, the secong whas Grimlong, Smennen top8´ed with it and was piloted by many of meandeck members. Decklists: Intuition Tendrils Land 14 4 Polluted Delta 3 Flooded Strand 1 Bloodstained Mire 2 Island 1 Swamp 2 Underground Sea 1 Tolarian Academy
Accel 16 8 Sol-lo-moxen-crypt 1 Lotus Petal 1 Mana Vault 4 Dark Ritual 2 Cabal Ritual
Protection 10 4 Duress 3 Force of Will 1 Chain of Vapor 1 Hurkyl’s Recall 1 Rebuild
Business 20 4 Brainstorm 3 Intuition 2 Grim Tutor 1 Vampiric Tutor 1 Mystical Tutor 1 Demonic Tutor 1 Perplex 1 Merchant Scroll 1 Yawgmoth’s Will 1 Tendrils of Agony 1 Timetwister 1 Yawgmoth’s Bargain 1 Necropotence 1 Ancestral Recall
SB 15 4 Dark Confidant 3 Cabal Therapy 1 Hymn to Tourach 2 Tendrils of Agony 2 Massacre 1 Hurkyl’s Recall 1 Swamp 1 Coffin Purge
GrimLong
Artifacts 1 Black Lotus 1 Lion's Eye Diamond 1 Lotus Petal 1 Mana Crypt 1 Mana Vault 1 Memory Jar 1 Mox Emerald 1 Mox Jet 1 Mox Pearl 1 Mox Ruby 1 Mox Sapphire 1 Sol Ring
Creatures 2 Elvish Spirit Guide 1 Xantid Swarm
Enchantments 1 Necropotence 1 Yawgmoth's Bargain
Instants 1 Ancestral Recall 4 Brainstorm 2 Cabal Ritual 4 Dark Ritual 1 Hurkyl's Recall 1 Mystical Tutor 1 Vampiric Tutor
Sorceries 1 Demonic Tutor 4 Duress 3 Grim Tutor 1 Imperial Seal 1 Mind's Desire 1 Regrowth 1 Tendrils Of Agony 1 Time Walk 1 Timetwister 1 Tinker 1 Wheel Of Fortune 1 Windfall 1 Yawgmoth's Will
Lands 4 City Of Brass 1 Forbidden Orchard 4 Gemstone Mine 1 Underground Sea
Legendary Lands 1 Tolarian Academy
Sideboard(a bit different): 1 Chrome Mox 1 Mox Diamond 1 Tormod's Crypt 1 Darksteel Colossus 2 Elvish Spirit Guide 3 Xantid Swarm 1 Seal Of Cleansing 1 Abeyance 1 Chain Of Vapor 2 Hurkyl's Recall 1 Balance
Grimlong has more broken plays, is more agresive, but it only plays 4duress1xantid1chain of vapor as disruption, and it runs draw7 and a weak manabase on the other hand, IT runs a manabase with 3 basic lands and 8 fetchlands, also runs more disruption in form of duress&fow and runs like 2/3 bouncers, but is less broken, and in order to win it needs play intuition before will After seen the new uba with Jester´s cap, wich deck do you think is stronger for the actual metagame, IT or Grimlong?

The side: 3 Null Rod 1 Darksteel Colossus 2 Triskelion 4 Oxidize 4 Extract 1 Tinker If you don't play 4 Oxidize you will lose True The Mirror -4 Oath of Druids; -2 Large Men; (-1 Gaea's Blessing) + 4 Extract; +1 Tinker; +1 Darksteel Colossus; (+1 Oxidize)
Now every body know this, but, if your oponent sided in 1dsc 2triskelion leaving 1 angel, this game plan is poor, any thoughts on it? I´ve not tested it so show me your point of view, but even if you go for the play extract twice route, i rather have triskelion, is an auto win when you oath it, also in oath mirror they will side in 2 triskelions and a dsc, so their creature count is 4, I dont think play 4 extract is a path to victori, 2 seems easy, 4 not Control Slaver -2 Sensei's Divining Top; -1 Impulse +3 Null Rod I asume that you dont include 2 triskelion agains slaver beacouse of nullrod, but show us your experiences during testing U/W Fish -3 Duress +1 Tinker; +1 Darksteel Colossus; +1 Triskelion I rather have 2 triskelions(Again!) agains fish, gilded drake, they get arround stp kills mages, and huh, it can be hardcasters(not usually but no so imposible) Also, Extract is also interesting agains gift, any idea? Thx for answering MoxLotus

A bit offtopic, i dont know what type of oponents with oath are you playing agains, but if with Cs you win agains oath the most of the times, star changing your test-mates
Cs is a good deck, but not defend it at all cost, Oath beats Slaver, asume it
If both, oath and cs go for the beatdown, Oath wins, unless slaver has the nutzs, to beat you I only need 1g, and afther that a counterspell/chalize/strip mine/wasteland/duress
How many mana do you need in order to rush me?

Just a note to Eandori, against oath you do the following
Meandeck Oath -1 Cunning Wish -4 Force of Will -1 Pentavus -1 Goblin Welder -1 Brainstorm +2 Swords to Plowshares +1 Burnout +1 Red Elemental Blast +2 Pyroblast +2 Disenchant
First, Cutting fows agains oath is retarded, you need the more counterspells you can, specially fows, oath will not allow to get UU in order to play mana drain to oath most of times, beacose of wasteland. Second, i dont think cutting brainstorm is optimal, and not refered to meandeck oath(cos is outdated) but moderns oath (Gws) dont fear your Rebs/pyros, bring them agains oath and pyro what, an impulse?, Oath dosent need to resolve blue spells in order to win, is often a dead card, you also need to fetch a nonbasic land to cast it. Anyways, I´ve never liked Stp agains oath, you need 2 of them to make it useful, Stp and akroma and die to razia, they buy you 2 turns, your mana base becomes poor and you have sided in cards that just do a little to oath, and if you play them on side, oath creature post side is 2triskelion 1Dsc 1Angel, that mades stp sux. Burnout Sux against oath by the same reason that reb. Also, platz is a game winner agains oath first game, but 2nd and 3 just sux, can be trisked away or "oxidizes" if they see them on game 1 they can bring a few in order to beat it
Bloodmoon hurt oath, the same of anull and EE, that are the only cards that Cs can have in his side to beat oath

You have Fow, Chalizes as well, Duress, and if your oponent goes broken, you can just play oath and find time walk as well. If you maindeck some bouncer like Rushing, you have like 4 Tutors and all the draw

Shattered Dreams are awfull, you dont need remove a "artifact", you need remove the counterwall from slaver, so taking away the mindslaver or random triskelion is not needed. Against Stax sux, in game 2 you side out your duress, and Shattered is weaker, you side out duress beacouse search for nonbasic land is a pain in the stax matchup. Also, this deck is based on tempo, and shattered doesn´t give tempo, oxidize can be played anytime, and kills something that is in play, wich shattered doesn´t.

You can't tinker the dragon into play. It is also vulnerable to StP, bounce, and Duplicant.
True for sure, if you have been able to activate oath you dont need draw, Triskelion uses to be better, also it is very usefull in the mirror Imo, imperial seal is a strong choice, i´ll cut one sensei for it, yes is sorcery and that sux, but it has worked very well for me, give it a chance. Sometimes focers you to search for sea and is killed by wasteland, but in other cases Imperial Seal does what Gws need, search for oath and make it resolve Also, darkblast used to be a weak choice, to kill welder you already have triskelion and ground seal, what more you need¿? Pithing needle will be better, but not really needed, the pairing agains Cs is favorable, and agains Stax I rather have more oxidizes in my Sb than Drakblasts

Yes but the difference is that you have a tendrils meandeck that in most cases is worst than burning, with burning you can play another will, double timewalk with dsc beacouse many times you dont play the biggest will ever
Tendrils in most of the cases is a dead draw, when burning is not so dead when you can recur something via recup
Even, if you are going to win with a big yaww. win with tendrils, having to burning for tendrils is not a big isue

MDGifts: Mirrorlike. You should have advantage in the first match because of your hate: Duress and Gorilla Shaman.
-2 Pithing Needle -1 Lotus Petal -1 Burning Wish
+1 Tendrils of Agony +2 Red Elemental Blast +1 Pyroblast
Needle is near useless and Lotus Petal is a carddisadvantage. Duress, Shaman and ReB's are great. Burning Wish will likely get you Tendrils, so why not having it immediatly. You should be winning this. Cunning Wish is also good because you can get all sorts of things.
Just beacouse you can double walk with dsc picking walk you removed with recup or play a second yag.win if u played it agresively

i´ve played the deck after and before Smmenen´s article comes out, and cloud of faeries has been a so good inclusion!they are amazing! also, this deck die to a lot of cards, but it has about 3 alternative game plans, ravager, disciples, combo and also beatdown with faires disciples and myrs! i think is a good deck, with many sb choices, i´ll personally go with defense grids and a few overloads to beat null rod
