all gothslaver pretty much is; is 2-3 underground seas, 2-3 duress, a yawgmoths will and a demonic tutor. this is the deck that im playing i love having the added black mainly for a the Will. when that card resolves its usually over. i added an entomb which really has seem to work out good for me. since usually u need the big artifacts in the graveyard anyway this helps do that for alot cheaper.

Eternal Formats / Creative / Control Salvagers... Is combo control viable??
|
on: February 26, 2005, 11:54:20 pm
|
yeah i know meddling mage doesnt really sound effecient. but ive played against this deck and the mages do more damage then one would think. just think about this calling for various cards in different decks.
Slaver: Thirst for Knowledge or Goblin Slaver
Any Tendrils deck: Tendrils of Agony
TLC: Charbelcher
Workshop: Juggernaut, WELDER, 3sphere, or Smokestack
Oath: Oath of Druids
I mean yes mana drains would stop all these but once. Where as Meddling Mage might possibly stop it for the game and save your counters for other potent cards.

if anything u could cut 1 lim dul's vault, for another duress. that way it would be so random. ive seen alot of deck just run 1 vault. but i always run 2 because of its power.

i agree with oldbsturgeon, duress is awesome in dragon. lets u fish out there hand get rid of that counter before u go off, thats if you havent see a swarm yet.

how is having the tendrills/caravan kill not flexible. u combo for a million of U/B mana, u reanimate the caravan, u "draw your deck", u play out everything in your deck like duress, moxes, rituals, the kitchen sink, etc.; leaving force of wills in hand. u cast tendrils for the kill. uve already duress them like 3 times. and have counter back up. how is that not fun and "flexible"?

i guess u got a point about the laquatus. i'll have to try the witness kill. havent tried it yet.
about the other part. its not as bad as it sounds. u use aerial caravan to draw your entire deck. play out all spells and then tendrills for the kill. since ur able to cast all the force of wills with ease. its well protected. but it is for fun i wouldnt use it in a tournament.

got a question, now i might be like way wrong why has no one mentioned running the good ol' laquatus as a kill condition.
also a method ive been playing with not for serious play but its fun and flashy is running with aerial caravan and having a tendrils of agony in the deck.
i know its not the norm. but its fun

im not saying P. Angel is like a kill condition. but it sure can help out sometimes. and if u get a welder out. it makes it harder to kill u. also its good against combo more than anything. like belcher has to go off twice before they can kill u. dragon has some probs with it. i mean i agree that against control its not to strong. but the good ol' angel hasnt let me down yet.

ok yes, more decks are running basic land. but the few decks that FCG has a problem with run non-basic. Oath gets hurt from it. Workshop gets slowed down. if u get bloodmoon out early enough on slaver if dampers there fun a great deal not being able to fetch for the few basics it runs.

if your facing alot of aggro, u will not need the Vforce. due to the fact that youll go off before they can slip in with enough to kill u. Ive played FCG, numerous times with my dragon, and ill go off turn 2-3 consistently due to the fact i know they have nothing to really stop me.

a couple of choice cards u could put in there to help with the mana base crucible of worlds, strip mine, darksteel citadel (or seat of synod), mox diamond or chrome mox, and tolarian academy.
-crucible of worlds-->helps to recur back strip mine to help lock them or to recur back the darksteel to lock them with the mindslaver/welder
-tolarian academy -->helps to speed up the deck when played and have a couple of art. out.
also another choice of control/win u could drop in, is a platinum angel for a tinker target.

u said that a dragon build without bazaars will not work. i find that very false. i run dragon without bazaars and i do just fine. all it takes is a buried alive then a following animate to win the game.

the reason i run 3 different kills is just incase the remove my first graveyard from the game. so i have main deck back ups. But im looking in play testing with the Memnarch some.

-here are 3 different kill conditions that i run in my dragon deck.
1. Shivan Hellkite --> takes care of platinum angels. (i run gemstone mines to produce the red mana.)
2. Aerial Caravan --> use him to to remove your library to cast everything in your deck to build a storm count to cast a fatal tendrils
3. Laquatus --> mills the player. use him as the back up just in case i dont get the right mana when i go off with the combo.
