1  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / M:TG In Florida??? on: February 28, 2005, 05:16:03 pm
Yeah, I know how you feel.
I live in Florida as well (about an hour from Gainesville, near Lake City) and I've only seen one t1 tourney in the state for the past year. There was supposed to be a PSAQ on March 6th down in Pinellas Park but they cancelled it because they don't believe in using proxies. There was one I attended in Pensacola (they have a pretty decent t1 scene as compared to the rest of FL).

So anytime you're up near Lake City or Gainesville on a Saturday or something let me know and maybe we can get together Wink

Glad to know I'm not the only t1 player stranded in FL.
2  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / [Deck] New Belcher on: January 31, 2005, 04:46:14 pm
Belcher is, hands down and absolutely, my favorite deck. I've taken it to T8 numerous times and always have a blast playing it. I've worked on several different versions (one similar to the build starting this topic also influenced by Meandeck SX) and none have caught my attention as much as the original 2-land Belcher.

As previously mentioned, the Wishes are amazing and it also has many ways of working around FoW's and other quick counters. The meta around here is pretty aggro (5/3, stax, etc) and a lot of control. I've had no problems with any of these decks (except for that annoying 1st turn Trinisphere). I've never seen anything wrong with Tinder Wall, especially with the Chromatic Sphere's in the deck. They've never been a problem with me.

I've been working on a 1-land build to better handle Trinisphere/MWS based decks as they're very very popular around here. It looks like your deck would have a pretty big problem with disruption (I don't like the spoils, either).
3  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / M:tG card sleeves on: January 28, 2005, 07:04:22 pm
I've been looking for a nice playmat for a while now. T&T is always sold out and I don't live anywhere near a card shop (closest is an hour). There is one about an hour from here specializing in comics and miniatures so they will most likely have one of some sorts.

I'd be very happy if someone could direct me to a link.  Wink

I have heard a lot of good things about the Gunmetals, but haven't had the chance to pick up any, sadly. Although I plan on it!

As for the Rook metallic sleeves... I was going to purchase these mainly for casual play.  I went to a tournament a while back and a guy had to change his metallic sleeves because of the "reflection."

Thanks for the quick replies! More opinions will be appreciated greatly.

Thanks again.

anyone know of any in Florida? I've yet to find one  Crying or Very sad

There is the occasional Lotus/Power tourney and the PSAQ down near Tampa... but no kind of weekly thing.

Hello!

I'm a new member to TMD, but I've been reading a lot of the posts for months and months now... finally getting to posting something. Anywho...

I was just wondering what the most reputable tourney legal sleeves would be to most of you. I've used Yanoman, Super ____, and lots of other stuff. I was mainly wondering if Rook metallic sleeves were worth the money.

Thank ya!
