Eternal Formats / Blue-Based Control / Re: Why play Bomberman? (NE US)

The question is, how many trinket mage and salvagers are correct in the current paper magic meta. Does Monastery mentor play well in the Bomberman shell?
I just played in the NYSE and took 11th with Bomberman/Mentor. I played 4 trinket, 2 mentor, 2 snap, 1 salvager. 4 trinkets was awesome, snapcaster was great/ok all day, 2 mentors was the right number for my build and 1 salvager was perfect. Mentor and salvagers makes for lots of tokens and mentor gives you fight without combo. My losses on the day were not even games and were to miserable mulligans, which seems to be a things with bomberman. I personally think I need find 1 more space for a playable draw spell. Like thirst or gush. Congrats! Looking forward to seeing the full list.

I'd go through the cards that he lists out in his podcasts from the past two years. Anything that cross-references with more than a couple top 8's is probably something you want a set of. Otherwise, the lists that were published previously (via starcity, i believe) are your best bet. I can't speak on legacy, but the card pool for vintage still hasn't changed much from five years ago. Remember, we usually only gain a couple cards from a new set, so there's not much work to be done in compiling a new list.

I would really love for this card to be playable, it does so much in theory, but the cost is just too high.
Totally. Seems like it would be fun to stick one of these vs. delver or some such, then metamorph it for the humor. Add in a few Ankh of Mishra's and blammo.

So I've gotten some feedback from a couple of people and it sounds like no one is particularly unavailable on 4/13, so I will move the date to that evening instead. That way I can attend and run the event.
So, this is an MNM instead of an FNM?

In a distant land, far, far into the unknown, where Misdirection exists . . . there is a man . . . there is a man and he sayeth, "Nay! I shall not cast what is of optimal use! Damn ye, spells of extra turns of equal cost! Damn ye, spells that change targets for free! With a hexproof umbrella and an insignificant toughness boost, I will protect my beloved babes from decaying abruptly!" With a glint in his eye, the spell was cast . . . only to be misdirected to his opponent's creature.
This card is fucking awful.

4x Not of This World I know this protects marrit lage, but it feels reaaaaaaly narrow. Have you considered maxing out on thoughtsieze and adding missteps, duresses or (heaven forbid) hymn to tourachs in place of these? More proactive disruption would protect your combo, but also disrupt your opponents gameplan if the situation calls for it. For instance, if both players are in top-deck mode, would you rather draw Not of this World, wait, and hope to draw into the combo pieces, or would you want to disrupt your opponent's game plain via duress/thoughtsieze/hymn while waiting to win?
