LSV and Efro can play whatever they want because they are in the league to do so.

On the Hatebears topic, come on...once we have the spotlight on (at least for the visibility of the format) not playing GW Hate on the VSL is not bad for Vintage at all. Quite the contrary. You need first turn kills, impossible comebacks, counter wars and card drawing explosions.

People watch videos of other people riding a Harley or a Maserati. Not a Toyota Yaris or a Scooter. VSL is the same in terms of Magic players. You want to see the Top players playing the fancier decks. And this is what sells.

Once you are lured into the format, someone will ruin your tournament with well-timed strip effects and a stony silence and you will understand how this all works!

Don't complain about the gentleman's agreement.

We could be seeing the Modern Super League...but no...instead we get the top players in the world playing our beloved format.

This is nothing to complain about.

This is getting visibility and a status of the format which is "not dead". It's ok for me.

Normally the LCV top16 is updated to TC decks on a monthly basis (if Roger Riera remembers to do so).

Being a body of 4 o more (not dying to Lightning Bolt) makes it really interesting. It can also block bears all day long.

Also, the cost of triggering is really small in a format where you can  transform it "almost" whenever you want if your deck is suited to do so.

But landing it quite before an EOT battle is really nice to bash on your turn. Walk is a menace once your threaten to kill in 2 blows without blockers.

I like it. Very much in indeed.

I see it in hard control and aggro control. Even in some types of combo, because it can gave you quite a surprise )))

Back on topic, I am of the opinion that everybody should focus on what they do best.

So for me TMD should be the one that brings fresh new content to the format, discussing about new techs, cards and ideas, providing testing results (either IRL or online via Cocka or MOL) and have tournament reports (either personal or from the tournament organizer). Deck lists are just a bonus. A consequence.

This is my forum ideal of where we should be going.

PS: And yes. Slash Panter won a 43 player tournament. Javier David is one of the top performers of the MUD archetype in LCV and always brings new and fresh approaches to the tables!

I'm totally in favor of a change for good.

I'm also of the opinion that there needs to be more quality content and we should start to share more and get back to being the point of reference in terms of Vintage discussions, new tech and trends.

I often find myself checking for deck lists in TC decks or MTG goldfish and not going to the source of the changes on the archetypes: The discussions topics showing the points of view of the people who play that very same lists.

We are currently in a positions where we are isolated individuals that get the final product (aka deck lists) without any explanation of any kind. What does this lead to? To a static format that does not evolve.

We keep on playing same deck lists and the shifts in trends are very very slow. So some people leave because they get bored or because we are getting more of the same.

To fight all this, I am committed to try to lure some of the LCV players into the forum to try to share and comment more, as I know some would love to.

However, there seems to be a total lack of interest on the results and deck lists we post. I am really sorry to see that despite being the oldest and biggest monthly league in the world, the LCV does not rise any kind of comments or discussions of any nature among the TMD users. This is really demotivating.

This is just a reflection of the position TMD holds now: A lot of people could be sharing and talking but there seems to be no feedback, so the content creation is unidirectional and does not respond to any need.

All in all, it seems to be a great moment to be playing Vintage, let's see what the future holds for our community (and TMD).

It cannot race Mentor alone (although it can probably give you more than 1 headache with a delver and a Walk) but it can kill your opponent while you stall the board with Pyromancer tokens blocking monk tokens all day long.

I have tested with

4 Duress
4 Defense Grid

Package has proven really really strong vs. 14-16 counters.deck. I think that´s the way to go.

However, after some testing the opponent counter deck starts to play the aggressive role and try to go faster than  you. And he can do it because you don't have any disruption apart from Duress.

That has made me think that maybe we could main deck FOWs and board Grids for certain matchups, because the other way around is a problem when opponent knows you are not playing FOWs.

The range of hands your opponent keeps is pretty different (like 1st turn Tinker or Tezz, Oath, etc...)

We gathered 38 players in Barcelona this Saturday 31st of October. That meant we would get back to our beloved 6 rounds, which is always nice

Everybody was really expecting to see some new things due to the last B&R. Specially which approach would MUD take on the league as we have several players who just love the archetype.

As always, after the first 4 rounds, the first two tables could ID in the 5th round. In the 6th Round, first 3 tables, IDed and tables 4 and 5 had to play it out. Some people would make the cut with 12 points and it finally did as two people made it.

He was counting if any card was missing (due to being stolen) so he could get me a game loss. He was explicitly counting and did it twice to double-check.

I had already pile shuffled (and shuffled) myself before handling it to him, so I knew everything was in order.

In vintage, for my experience, we shuffle and not pile shuffle. I know this event was Legacy format though...much more "cutthroat" if you allow me to refer to it as such.

At least this is what is done in my Vintage community and I have seen it also in quite a lot of international events.

You can shuffle as many times as you want. But I have yet to see someone pile shuffling at LCV.

Back in 2010 I attended GP Madrid to play Legacy. It happened that it was one of the greatest GPs in History. Gathering 2,000 people. There were players everywhere, not enough chairs for everyone, quite a chaos.

I was playing my Goblin deck. With signed Taigas and Badlands and also signed Fetch lands. With my beloved goblins that had been playing with me all my life. Some signed, some foil...

Maybe it was round 4 or 5. After taking the seat, I check the bag and my deck is nowhere to be found.

I tell my opponent to wait and go to the judge station. After some checking it seems a nice soul had left my deck there for me to get it back.

I could not believe how lucky I was!

When I got back to the table, I nervously explained everything to the judge and my opponent. And we even got some extra minutes for the round.

I shuffle, hand the deck to my opponent with a smile. Let´s play!

He pile shuffles to count the deck was legal (which luckily it was).

I could not believe it.

How could I experience two opposites of the same spectrum (goodness vs. evilness) in such a short period of time?

I could perfectly imagine how anyone would be feeling for that at the same moment towards that person who was trying to win a game due to the absolute misfortune of another human being...

Unluckily for me, he won the match.

That is something I will never forget.

At least, I got my deck back thanks to a person to whom I will never have the chance to thank for what he did.

On Saturday 27th of June we had the June edition of the LCV. This time, instead of our beloved Barcelona, we moved to Girona (75 minutes by car from the capital) to play some Vintage.
