2  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Deck idea "Plain and Simple"a metalworker deck on: May 09, 2005, 07:07:53 pm
I know that this deck or something like it has been tested by everyone and their mother and it always worksout to no avail and no top finishings besides the weird affinity at chicago, but i hope this list will change all that.

First the deck is plain mono brown just to keep things simple.(I wonder how i got the name for the deck?) Except for the fact that there is 2 Gaea's blessing in the board for sensei , sensei.

So here is the list:

If i able to use my ability you lose creatures
4 Metal Workers

The Fat:
4 Juggernaut
4 Sui-Ci - Might become synod centurion
4 Trike
2 Karn

The Control
4 Chalice of the void (What deck right know doesn't just about die to chalice 1 or 2?)
3 Crucible of Worlds
4 Sphere of resistance
1 Trinisphere
2 Mindslaver

Random Goodies
3 Lightning Greaves (I Know it could be a swords or jitte but haste and untargetable is just better, Plus there is no equip cost)
1 Memory Jar

The Mana Base:
4 Workshops
4 Ancient tomb
4 Wasteland
2 Darksteel citadel
1 Tolarian Academy
1 Strip Mine
7 SoLo Moxen
1 Mana Vault

Side Board
4 Jesters Cap ( Half the time 1 cap means game win)
3 Defence Grid
3 Tormods Crypt
3 Tangle Wire
2 Gaea's Blessing (In case they wish stifle)

I've been testing the deck against the Field so far and its been testing very well against SSB, Sensei,Sensei,Tendrils,Oath both salvager's and beatdown.

Its OK match ups are slaver its like a 60/40 percant chance of winning if they get a first turn welder If not it jumps to 75/25.

Its hardest match up is in Zhengs build of U/W because it runs null rod and energy flux, while a chalice for 1 or 2 stalls them enough to land crucible and or get trike out to wipe his board.the match up is 40/60 in favor of fish.

Will be back to edit article with single card discussions to come.
3  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Should Gifts be restricted? on: April 17, 2005, 04:05:11 pm
Every new set there are cards that are attempted to be broken in type 1. Mindslaver is a great example of one idea that worked out while Isochron Scepter is one that didn't do as well as first thought it would be. Forbidden Orchard as we all know has be a great success making oath have a spectacular comeback. While this was happening other cards were getting overlooked which brings me to my main point of why gifts should or should not be restriced.
