1  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Uba Stax - pseudo primer on: February 14, 2006, 06:02:17 pm
While that list is nice I'm sort of looking for something a little bit more 10 Proxyish for my poor self to afford.Smile  Evenpence said that it loses to chalice for 1 and it looks like he proved it.  Even would you happen to have a list for 5C St4KZ or something else that doesent run 4 friggen Bazaar in it?

I just chastised you about decklist requests in this thread yesterday! Warning!

2  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Uba Stax - pseudo primer on: February 13, 2006, 11:41:17 pm
Is there any chance that Bazarless ST4KZ is still viable?  I'm just wondering because I've heard it's been taken over by Bazaar Stacks and I'm no in the $$ position to get a Bazaar list around, and if said ST4KZ is still viable, does anyone have an updated list so I can see what they are running now-a-days.

Decklist requests are against the rules.  TMD has a search function for a reason.

3  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Premium Article] Meandeck Gifts on: July 04, 2005, 04:59:18 pm
Do we have any decklists from Origins yet?  I'm really wanting to see what's been played besides MeanDeck Gifts which from the sounds of it tore up at Origins this year.  Why Tendrils over the DC kill Sm?

I so want to see that guys elf deck, it sounds like it was really cool.  Good report though. Wink
5  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Worse Than Fish 3.0 on: June 18, 2005, 12:40:00 pm
Are chalices even any good in an unpowered meta? I mean they are ok but without moxen i would believe they aren't as good while spiketail hatchlings are better because of the same reasons.

Chalice is an extremely versatile card, I mean setting it for 0 is good but you can also set it for 1 against storm basesd combos that need stuff like Sensei's Diving Top and Dark Ritual to go off, well it helps a lot in hte case of Ritual, but Chalice is a very good card, don't doubt it.
6  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Pithing Needle in Vintage on: June 17, 2005, 11:16:09 pm
Someone is going to create a silver bullet type deck for vintage and run 4 Pithing Needle main and wreck everything, going to be a metagame deck like Dumptruck or even Rock.
7  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: Worse Than Fish 3.0 on: June 16, 2005, 10:36:35 am
Well I'm thinking that you side in Crypt against stuff like Dragon and CS and when you play a Chalice it can be set to 1 for Welder, it gets rid of your rootwallas but welder is a bigger part of the their game then you are to rootwalla, so Crypt can be useful, just don't drop chalice for 0.
8  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: The Explosion of Fish on: June 15, 2005, 03:40:08 pm
As long as Trinisphere is staying restricted Fish will be making the Top 8's all over the world, the deck is very good when pioleted right and is one of te cheapest decks to make.  Fish can get better because it evolves so much with the meta, as soon as the decks around it change then it's time for Fish to change and it is always for the better.  Rootwater Thief is great in the deck getting te main kill cards and useing Tinker-DC just makes it that much better, nope, Fish is going to be around for a long while unless someone can come up with a better varient and name it Steak or something.
9  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: [Report] 4th at SCG Rochester on: June 13, 2005, 10:04:46 pm
Got any hints on what's in the OFM2K5 decklist that you beat?  I seriously want to know that decklist and hope that the lists will be on SCG at 12 tonight, the deck sounds like a good deck.

Good Report though, and congrats on taking 4th at your first "big" tournament.

Hey, would their be room for Ancestral in the Orlove build?  I mean it's awsome, but is there room for some great card draw?
European events are typically sanctioned/no-proxy tournaments, so we can only assume he didn't own one.

11  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: 10 Proxy War...TPS or Sensei Sensei on: June 04, 2005, 12:31:28 pm
Which deck?  TPS is The Perfect Storm, it's a combo deck that uses a bunch of spells and Yawgmoth's Will to make a hugh storm count into Tendrils of Agony.  Sensei Sensei uses Helm of Akwening Future Sight and 2 Sensei's Diving Tops to draw their deck, make a huge storm count and Tendrils or Brain Freeze.
12  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: 10 Proxy War...TPS or Sensei Sensei on: June 04, 2005, 08:40:50 am
I can understand why you want me to cut red and add a Wish, I did originally have the list just Black and Blue but then I wanted a Sorcery Outlet and Gifts for Recoup, Will, Ritual, Ritual is awsome.  But yah I can see where your coming from, so I should take out Burning Wish, Wheel of Fortune, and Recoup for Cunning Wish MD and what else?  Also I just play Recall over Rebuild because it cost 1 less mana.  But I can see how Rebuild would be better if it resolves allowing you to get rid of Chalice or something else not need and it's good against Aggro Workshop decks.
13  Eternal Formats / Creative / 10 Proxy War...TPS or Sensei Sensei on: June 01, 2005, 05:41:39 pm
I've been playing combo ever since I first started in vintage.  Unfortunitly the only time I'm able to play is online or in full proxy tourneys because I'm low on resources for the better cards.  I've played TPS and Sensei Sensei both multiple ammounts of time and have had good results with both of the decks.  I prefer TPS but I posted this to get your opinion on what deck would be more competative with the 10 Proxy setting we know today.

TPS-Aside from the power there really isant much to this deck to get except for Force of Will's and Duels.  I can get Forces over time but it's still burning a whole in my pocket and the Underground Sea's, Polluted Delta's, Strands, and Volcanic Island in hte deck are going to kill my bank account.  Proxying the power leaves you with 3 parts in my build, well a build I got off Morphling.de.  I can use that to proxy 2 Sea's and a Volcanic Island.  While the deck is good it still hurts not to have the duels.

Pro's
-The deck is most likly one of hte most resiliant form of combo that there is in T1, it's been T8'ing all over and is still got game after Workshop went downhill.
-The deck does have the ablity to go off on turn one but it can also prolong the game if it needs more time to set up some resiliance or just can't seem to go off yet.

Con's
-It's said that TPS lost it's game because of Workshop getting far less popular since hte restriction of Trini.
-While being one of the faster combo's, it can also be one of the slowest.

Sensei Sensei-This deck uses Force of Will and Mana Drain but a friend told me it does not need Duels so that's a plus, but Proxying the power will leave you with most likly 2 Mana Drian spots left and $200 is way to much for me to spend on 2 cards, I'd rather spend it elsewhere, like the zoo... Cool  Anyway Drains are the main thing in this deck that it needs to run by and it has more rares in my looking at both builds, I'm not that resourceful so it's hard to even get crap rares.

Pro's
-People haev said this is the most resistant combo deck simply because it can go off with fewer or more of it's combo parts, you can go off with a Helm and 2 Senseis' and a Freeze in hand.
-This deck also has an aiblity to go for a longer game and delay until it can feel safe to succesfully go off without much of a response from the opponet.

Con's
-While Null Rod hurts combo horribly it completly shuts down this deck.
-It does haev the ability to go off fast but it's one of hte more slow combo decks to assemble, may take 2-3 turns.

So in your guy's opinion who wins the 10 Proxy War...TPS or Sensei Sensei

Awsome report, I've always liked any decks that love Kird Ape, Go big Gorilla dude!  Where are the WAterbury video's?  I could never figure it out. Sad

I really like that R/G build, any deck that can compete with and win against fully powered deck is alright by me, the Top 8 looks very nice altogether, thanks for posting the results.  Very Happy
17  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Hype A Card Makes Does Not on: May 30, 2005, 12:59:44 pm
a) you gotta find the Ancestral first.
b) who in their right mind said Twincast would destroy Vintage?
c) and why would you run it in "Gothenburg" Slaver?

Pithing Needle seems to be a helluva strong piece of disruption, but like Meddling Mage, it'll take skill and knowledge of your opponent and his deck / strategy.

For example, Pithing Needle against Psychatog:
You: Pithing Needle naming Psychatog!
Opponent: Whatever, kid.  When I'm ready to win I'll remove it, until then you can have your $20 toy.

This goes for just about any control deck out there.  Naming Goblin Welder against Control Slaver?  "Tinker."  Name Mindslaver?  Pentavus is probably better than the aggro-control deck you're running, and since you didn't name Goblin Welder, he'll be back again and again and again.

The best application so far is to cut off the fetchlands, so long as you don't neuter your own.  Needle names Polluted Delta when your deck runs Flooded Strand = good, but not when your opponent runs Strands, or (as Severance Belcher usually does) 2 of each.

Orlove's U/G fish variant can utilize this really well, since even if you have to call your own fetchlands, no card in his deck is ever really dead (+1/+1 to Mongrel is never really dead).
Strangely enough, I can also see Oath making some use out of this card, since all they have to do is stall for time until they get a couple swings in with their flyers.

If you name ToG anytime before it comes out then may god have pity on your soul, make sure you have Counters and then play it when ToG is out.  Pithing Needle is only a toy in the hands of idiots, like someone naming Mox Emerald when they have 4 other Moxen out.  Pitihing Needle will see maindeck play in Fish most likly just because it can be an annoyence to most decks.
18  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: [Discussion] The Question of Oath? on: May 29, 2005, 09:13:20 am
It sort of depends on your metagame at the time on what build you want to use, Black is outdated and should be kept to Goth Slaver, I'm not saying Black isant good but not right now in Oath, you should be running Chalice and Furnace, for graveyard control and in game control.  Oath doesent need it's moxen so drop Chalice for 0 and play Furnace first turn, that gets rid of anything they may want to dump.  Drop Oath and your pretty much a made man from there on out.

Intuition-This card is not only for AK but that's what most people use it as.  Intuition for 3 Counters or for 3 Orchreds or 3 Oaths or 3 different cards that may help out at the momnet, and even if you don't think that you'll need it then you can pithc it for Force of Will.

Thirst-Run both Thirst and Intuition in your deck, it makes for great deck thinning and getting rid of cards that may be useless later in the match or even now in the match.  Thirst is a great card especially with Chalice and Furnace since you can dump them if it's to late or your don't want to get rid of two cards.

My opinion on this is stated and I hope that you'll be playing Chalice Oath in the future oppoesed to any other Oath deck.  Or even make an Oath build of your own and work with it till you can get the optimal build for you, or just one that wins in some sort of odd way. Wink

Eh, I want to see the decklists so badly, admiering the the rogue decks that made Top 16 is what I live to see from Vintage tournaments, I also want to hear what he's going to change about Goblins, he says FCG never really helped.
20  Eternal Formats / Miscellaneous / Re: R/G beats discussion on: May 17, 2005, 09:26:12 pm
Can't argue with Success but Null Rod is most definitly a hoser.

Once again, the TMD rules are here. In particular, rule 4 hasn't changed since this morning.

I've been searching around the site for awhile and can't find an updated version of this deck to ponder.  I know it can be competative because a friend of mine Top 8's a lot with it.  Can someone start a Sui Black discussion here on just link me to the thread, if one exists.

Ophidian is good...but that's just me.  I've been running MUC for some time now in T1 and it's quite fun and can be very competative because of BTB, one of the funniest cards to play against someone.
