But that's Not the Point ... Why not tour with the champs around the World?

I asked Rosewater that question in Paris in 06(worlds) were the Vintage side event was bigger than that years GENCON championship and then asked Lapille the same question in Rome in 09(worlds) were side event was also bigger. Both times I got the same blank look as they had never given Vintage a second taught it's not on there RADAR in relation to the overall health of the game.

11  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: BC's live Gencon tournament report thread on: August 07, 2010, 06:13:56 am
117 players is another sad fall in attendance more a bush league than a world championship at least the skill level of the top players is not in doubt.
12  Vintage Community Discussion / General Community Discussion / Re: Rumors/Previews/mtg.com articles on: June 18, 2010, 01:27:44 am
Really bad news for vintage when they can't even be bothered to remove Burning wish from the restricted list after they errarted its orginal functionality, pure apathy not a good indicator for future format health.

Have everything but three bazaars for ichorid not a fan of the deck so probably won't bother picking them up.
16  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: 3rd/4th at British Nats on: August 10, 2009, 03:56:45 pm
Stax player played a land (gemstone mine/city of brass) some spells (moxes manavault) then proceeded to play strip mine, opponent without a moments hesatation raised his hand called judge and proceeded to try making a serious issue of what everyone else saw as a nervous mistake. Judge dismissed it for what it was a simple correctable error which never had a chance of affecting the gamestate i think he issued a warning the correct penalty for this type of incident.

18  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Budgetdeck for BoM 3 on: April 27, 2009, 05:41:21 pm
Yeah same here five of us going all fully powered, all the bigger tournaments in europe usually are piacenza, paris x 2 were very high powered events i played 20+ rounds vast majority against powered decks unlike M-fest were i played against one powered deck in the semis.

23  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Improving Mask on: March 15, 2006, 01:48:03 pm
Not to be dismissive but this deck is terrible as built changes I would make would be something along these lines.

Core cards: 16
4 Illusionary mask
4 Phyrexian Dreadnought
2 Hidden Horror
4 Dark Confidant
2 Withered Wretch

Search: 6
1 Enlightened tutor
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Imperial Seal
2 Argivian Find (maybe a find alright nice with dredge)

Disruption/Protection: 16
4 Duress
2 Darkblast
4 Swords to Plowshares
2 Seal of Cleansing
1 Strip Mine
2 Wasteland

Mana: 23
4 Dark Ritual
1 Sol Ring
1 Lotus petal
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
4 Scrubland
2 Flooded Strand
2 Polluted Delta
5 Swamp
1 Plains

Even with these changes i reckon its borderline viable depends on metagame i suppose

By any chance do you know if the EBA deck went through both Gifts decks or did he play against any of the stax decks. This deckstyle seems to have some game in Germany four of them in the last 3 top 8s posted, I must build it I'm sure I'll like it since it has Negators.
26  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Mono Black on: February 25, 2006, 08:24:29 am
I played this deck against workshop.dec (stax and aggro) and it just can't cut it absolutely terrible in fact the disruption was useless in the matches I played as is it might be another two years of set releases before i play this again, wasn't actually that bad versus a gifts deck leyline after boarding usually wins the match with little fuss. Back to the drawing board it seems .
27  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: [Decklists] T8 Barcelona 18-02-06 on: February 23, 2006, 04:28:24 pm
Thanks for clearing that up and congrats on the finish.
28  Eternal Formats / Global Vintage Tournament Reports and Results / Re: [Decklists] T8 Barcelona 18-02-06 on: February 23, 2006, 12:55:41 pm
If you got a chance to observe the finals how much did the number two's deck cunning wish sideboard affect this match up seems like the number one deck had more focused hate for the control match up. Also fish in a fish deck what's that all about as for the legacy ported gobbo's vial and rod and the king shouldn't work but must have had some game how many rounds were played.
29  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Mono Black on: February 22, 2006, 12:55:24 pm
Good call on the leylines they also function better against instant speed effects(necromancy), I'm not a fan of the wretches they feel to much like control to me but that is a personal viewpoint. The economics of mindtwist don't feel like it should work early ritual mana should be used to drop beaters not randomly luckshot for the win. I think your right about the skirge's though just can't bring myself to recommend flesh reaver in the same deck as dark confidant will change the decklist to accommodate the recommended changes.
30  Eternal Formats / Creative / Re: Mono Black on: February 21, 2006, 07:36:30 am
Land
9 Swamp
4 Bloodstained Mire
4 Wasteland
1 Strip Mine
18 land

Instants/Sorceries
4 Duress
2 Unmask
2 Cabal Therapy

4 Dark Ritual
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Demonic Consultation
2 Diabolic Edict
2 Dark blast
1 Death Wish
1 Yawgmoths Will

22 spells

Enchantments/Artifacts
1 Necropotence
1 Mox Jet
1 Black Lotus
4 Chalice of the Void
1 Lotus Petal
8 Enchantments/Artifacts

Creatures
2 Nantuko Shade
4 Dark confidant

4 Phyrexian Negator
2 Withered Wretch
12 Creatures

Sideboard
2 Nantuko shade
1 Withered Wretch
4 Null Rod
2 Engineered Plague
1 Tendrils of agony
1 Diabolic Edict

4 Leyline of the void

These are the changes i would make to the deck (in bold) although i haven't played this style of deck in at least 2 years.
I find the land destruction route to be ineffective in most match ups nowadays my plan would be to land some early beats then to bust into a tendrils of a will mid game, I don't believe this deck has a long game or ever can
